Luo Xi was determined not to be separated from Cheng Qing, and the director also didn’t want them to separate.

As a result, the 12 individuals were ultimately divided into 4 groups, and Cheng Qing, Luo Xi, and Lin Shandie ended up in the same group.

Zhou Yong confidently took the lead, guiding the first group in as they entered the haunted house.

There would be a 10-minute gap between each team’s entry, but barely two minutes had passed when the sound of screams echoed from inside.

Luo Xi: “…”

As soon as five minutes went by, Cheng Qing’s group prepared themselves and they headed toward the entrance.

The staff gave each of them a flashlight but Cheng Qing received hers with a hint of confusion, “Didn’t you give the other teams only one flashlight?”

The staff member paused for a moment, then revealed a meaningful smile.

Cheng Qing furrowed her brow slightly, sensing that something was not right.

Luo Xi followed closely behind her and asked nervously, “What does this mean?”

Cheng Qing glanced at the flashlight in her hand, then at Luo Xi’s, and finally said, “It means that the three of us might get separated. It’s highly likely that we’ll have to go through the entire journey alone.” That’s why each of us needs a flashlight.

Both Luo Xi and Lin Shandie gasped in disbelief and cursed, “This is too insane!!!”

The staff member didn’t deny it, but simply smiled and said, “Once you’re inside, hold on tight to your friends! Never…ever let go.”

Luo Xi acted swiftly, reaching out and firmly grasping Cheng Qing’s hand, their fingers intertwining seamlessly. The stark contrast between Cheng Qing’s calloused palm and Luo Xi’s soft, delicate touch created a captivating sensation.

The moment her hand intertwined with Cheng Qing’s, an indescribable sense of reassurance washed over Luo Xi.

Lin Shandie looked at their hands and could only helplessly reach out to hold onto Cheng Qing’s clothes.

Lin Shandie’s warning from her manager still echoed in her ears, reminding her that the eternal CP trend was rising, and if she didn’t want to be criticized, she shouldn’t engage in any ambiguity with Cheng Qing.

Cheng Qing, on the other hand, didn’t pay much attention to it. She simply glanced at the hand holding onto her clothes and then smiled at Lin Shandie, saying, “Stick close to us later.”

At the entrance, another staff member approached them and installed cameras onto their chests.

To enhance the atmosphere of horror, cameras were placed throughout the haunted house to record and the cameramen did not join the teams.

As the time approached, muffled screams could be heard from inside.

Luo Xi’s legs went weak, and her grip on Cheng Qing’s arm tightened as desperation seeped into her voice. “Cheng Qing, can we just… give up? I don’t think I can handle this.”

Cheng Qing understood Luo Xi’s distress and gently stroked her head. With a reassuring smile, she pulled Luo Xi up using her other arm. “It’s okay, I’ll be with you. This time it’s not about competition or winning. I believe Director Kong wants to capture our genuine reactions.”

Luo Xi was on the verge of tears and looked at Cheng Qing with a mix of fear and confusion, “Reactions out of fear? What’s so interesting about that?”

Cheng Qing pursed her lips and smiled, “Well, it’s actually quite interesting. Even when I have free time, I enjoy watching these kinds of videos.” Watching people scare themselves with their funny reactions can truly make Cheng Qing’s day.

The staff stared at their watches. When they confirmed that the 10 minutes had passed, they lifted the caution tape and said, “Please enter!”

Cheng Qing led the way with the two girls closely following behind.

Watching from the back, Liu Suoyu trembled with fear. “Why can’t I go with my teacher?” he said, as tears of sadness streamed down his face.

As they stepped into the haunted house, they found themselves in a small waiting area with eerie decorations that created an unsettling atmosphere.

The walls were stained with blood, giving a chilling backdrop to the dimly lit space. Pale lights flickered intermittently, casting eerie shadows that danced along the corridor while a cold draft swept through the air, carrying a faint metallic scent.

The only issue was that it was too quiet, so quiet that it made you feel like some strange creature could jump out at any moment.

Lin Shandie’s heart skipped a beat and fearfully said, “Isn’t this too realistic? What do we do next?”

Cheng Qing glanced at the reception desk ahead and said, “There should be some clues over there, let’s go and take a look.”

Lin Shandie gripped onto Cheng Qing’s clothes tighter, while Luo Xi closed her eyes and held onto Cheng Qing’s hand, letting her lead the way.

Soon, they arrived at the reception area.

The service center had a wooden counter, and the wall behind it was covered in handprints of blood.

On the table, a weathered sheet of paper laid on the counter unsettlingly. Its edges were tattered, and faint stains marred its surface.

Lin Shandie used the flashlight to help illuminate it, and both she and Cheng Qing looked at it intently.

It contained the history of the hospital and the place where they needed to go.

Suddenly, a flicker of white caught Lin Shandie’s attention causing her heart to skip a beat. She instinctively turned her head and her eyes widened in horror.

In front of her stood a woman wearing a tattered white nurse’s uniform, stained with blood. Her face was a ghastly shade of white with a thick layer of powder smothered across her face.

In her arms, she was holding a blood-soaked baby doll, its lifeless eyes staring at them blankly.

Lin Shandie let out a scream, startling Cheng Qing.

Cheng Qing looked up and saw the nurse, but she didn’t react much. On the other hand, Luo Xi, who was beside them, grabbed Cheng Qing’s arm tightly and shouted, “What is it? What is it?” She refused to open her eyes.

After Lin Shandie’s high-pitched scream, she was already trembling with fear. Lin Shandie saw the nurse suddenly turn her head and look behind her.

With a stiff movement, Lin Shandie reluctantly turned her head to follow the nurse’s gaze. To her dismay, the wooden door behind her was forcefully thrust open.

Emerging from the darkness, a doctor with a grotesquely mutilated head lurched towards Lin Shandie.

Her fight or flight instinct went off and she ran away in fear. She was already frightened enough by the nurse, but when she saw the half-head ghostly doctor coming after her she shouted:

“G-g-ghost!!! Ahhhhhhhhhhh!” She covered her face with both hands and ran as fast as she could.

Cheng Qing was surprised by the high-pitched scream and quickly turned around to catch Lin Shandie.

“Shandie, don’t run!” She didn’t want them to be separated in this situation.

After only taking a couple of steps, Cheng Qing heard another scream from behind. It turned out that Luo Xi noticed Cheng Qing had let go of her hand and got scared, so she opened her eyes to search for her.

But as soon as she opened her eyes, she saw the nurse holding the baby doll right in front of her, staring at her with a piercing gaze.

Luo Xi’s eyes almost convulged from the sight and could only scream in fear… her scream was even a whole octave higher than Lin Shandie’s.

Cheng Qing: “…”

Seeing that Lin Shandie had already disappeared down the corridor, Cheng Qing had no choice but to let go and quickly turn around. She gently placed her hands over Luo Xi’s eyes, creating a comforting shield, and whispered in a soothing tone, “Don’t worry, you’re safe. It’s just a fake ghost.”

The warmth coming through the thin clothes, the familiar scent that belonged only to Cheng Qing, the gentle aura that only she possessed—everything made Luo Xi momentarily stunned and stop screaming.

Only then did Cheng Qing release her grip and Luo Xi noticed that the nurse holding the baby doll had been standing there motionless the whole time. The fear in her heart gradually dissipated.

Then, looking at Cheng Qing with anger, she said, “Why did you suddenly let go?!!!”

Cheng Qing sheepishly smiled and said, “Sorry, sorry. I was trying to catch Lin Shandie.”

Luo Xi noticed that Lin Shandie was missing and asked in confusion, “Where is she?”

Cheng Qing scratched her head, “She ran off on her own.”

Luo Xi: “…”

In the distance, screams could be heard intermittently, not only from Lin Shandie but also from the others.

Cheng Qing shrugged and pulled Luo Xi’s hand again, saying, “Let’s go! Otherwise, the team behind us will also enter.”

At this moment, Luo Xi was unusually obedient and nodded, following closely beside Cheng Qing.

The waiting room, of course, was only the beginning. The corridor they walked through didn’t pose much of a problem. However, the scattered limbs, and occasional shadows flashing across the glass walls made Luo Xi shiver with fear.

Cheng Qing softly chuckled and her voice carried a playful tone, “If you’re feeling scared, just close your eyes!”

Luo Xi’s eyes widened in panic as she vigorously shook her head, “No, if you run away, I’ll be left alone here.”

Cheng Qing squeezed her hand reassuringly, “I promise you, I won’t run away.”

Luo Xi replied with a hint of fear, “But I’m also afraid that I’ll lose my courage and run away on my own. o(TT)o”

Cheng Qing laughed and patted her on the head. She continued to lead the way while holding Luo Xi’s hand.

Despite her feminine appearance, Cheng Qing’s resolute figure brought comfort to Luo Xi. It was only when she was by Cheng Qing’s side could she bravely move forward in this darkness.

But it was also in this darkness that Cheng Qing’s voice reached Luo Xi’s ears. “If you ever run away, I’ll search for you without hesitation,” she said gently.

An uncontrollable smile bloomed across Luo Xi’s face and her heart felt warm.

As Cheng Qing turned around, her eyes sparkled with sincerity, and she fondly smiled at Luo Xi, “I promise, I will never leave you alone.”

Within the veil of darkness, Cheng Qing couldn’t see that Luo Xi’s cheeks had flushed a delicate shade of pink nor hear the rapid beats of her heart upon hearing those words.

A small giggle lingered on the tip of Luo Xi’s tongue as she held onto Cheng Qing’s hand even tighter.

Perhaps, in that moment, the seeds of affection planted in Luo Xi’s heart had blossomed just a little bit more.
