Laggard Officials/Threat

There were a few more who were concerned about the present situation. They knew that the officials were working silently now. 

For that reason, the abandoned district was destroyed, and the people behind it moved swiftly into action. 

There was a long list of crimes they committed for the sake of the precious reserves of the abandoned district. 

Now, it was time to tie up loose ends from the investigations. "It's all due to the student who provoked the officials for an in-depth investigation into the case. 

What's his relationship with the abandoned district?" the man in his sixties seemed to chew his words, this was due to his skin that wasn't as tight as it used to be in his youth. 

He was the mastermind of this collaboration between partners. 

From the five partners, only three were alive -just the greedy one, Tian and the old partner. 

The other two didn't have heirs to inherit their profits, so their's was divided among three left. Between the two old minds, Tian was younger and energetic. 

He was assigned some tasks to kill the survivors of the incident at the district and cover-up the investigations by all means necessary. 

As long as they can silence the survivors and bribe the officials, no one can penetrate them and question their actions.

The precious metal was sold at a high price in the black market, and they acquired tons of profits that their bank accounts were brimming with money. 

"Tian can explain it better," the greedy partner gestured towards the young man. 

"He's a fifteen-year-old student studying in MicroTech Academy, and according to my recent findings; he survived from the abandoned district blast and destruction. He is also the last one in my list…I will kill him soon," Tian gritted his teeth because of the sc.u.m he had to remain in jail for full three days. 

Now, getting rid of him was of utmost priority. 

"How soon?" the old partner asked without any distinct look of concern on his face. 

What matters most was that each and every evidence should be removed once and for all. 

Tian looked blank. He had not planned when he would likely kill the sc.u.m; because Tian still suspected, he was being watched by spies. 

He doesn't want to be a strong suspect so, he thought to wait it out before striking. 

"The officials are active these days so I'll have to wait for a few days." Some in the police department who had accepted bribe always kept him informed. Still, few seemed to have been bitten by the insect of honesty so, they work according to orders. 

"Do you want to wait for the senior agents to reach the boy and lay hands on whatever information the boy has about the incident? It can bring more burden than suspicion, and you already know that." The old partner was ruthless and strict in actions and words alike. 

They could handle suspicion but not a concrete evidence who was breathing in the form of a fifteen-year-old student who is not an ordinary student but someone who could grab attention internationally. 

"Do you want him killed as soon as possible?" Tian was a little hesitant. This old partner was closer to death, unlike Tian. 

The latter has long years of excellence ahead of him. If he couldn't do it correctly or unknowingly left some clue in haste, then it would severely affect him. 

"If possible, I want to see him dead by tomorrow," declared the old partner as he banged his fist on the table and abruptly stood up. 

He has a meeting with an official who was working under the senior officers. 

He wanted to bribe him and ask a favor in return. Their years-long effort and collected wealth would go to waste if they were exposed. 

Now Tian and the other partner were left. 

"You can benefit from the fact that officials don't run errands in one go," the greedy partner chuckled. 

Tian looked at him as if he wanted to slice off his throat immediately if it was within his means he would have done it sooner. 

He was concerned over several matters, and here he was being mocked by the greedy partner. 

"I know some of the officials who could clean up the left-over clues if you happened to leave in haste," the partner suggested. 

"Thanks but I have my own means…" Tian stood up. He couldn't trust this man; moreover, he was thinking to double-cross him soon. 

And for this purpose he has offered an insane amount to his personal guard. 

First, he wanted to know what kind of intentions he bears against Tian and second, what he was planning in the near future? 

Since Tian has decided to kill this partner, he wanted to know what was brewing in his mind before killing him. 

He had two reasons for wanting to kill this partner. First, he was no more honest with him regarding the profits and second, he sensed that he was planning the same as him. 

It was a b.a.r.e truth that the greedy partner was actually planning to kill Tian off while the officials were given a bribe solely for this purpose. 

They would kill Tian red-handed when he would be killing the student, Lui. 

It was a double-cross, and the greedy partner was pretty sure that Tian would act according to the orders of their old partner. 

Tian met the guard, and he told him the actual plans been prepared by the greedy partner. 

"If you have access to his kitchen then give him three time this root, in return, you will get whatever you want," Tian gave a generous offer to the guard, and he likewise accepted it smiling. 

Tian sent his trusted man a week ago to personally bring this root from abroad. He has a fascination for using unexpected means for killing others, and it rarely brought about any suspicion. 

Now he went back to his house to relax a little and then plan to kill the boy. 

He has only one day to plan this kill else the stubborn old partner would begin to interfere again.

The same day high ranking official was going to meet Lui in the hospital.
