Miraculously Unrequited

Chapter 37 - Enough

POV of Outsider

------------------------------------

"You f.u.c.k.i.n.g coward! You hide behind a mask and force others to do your bidding for you! You can't even face us yourself unless we're overpowered!" Adrien spit at the man towering above him that behind the silver slick mask laid a shaken Mr. Gabriel Agreste. Of course, Adrien has yet to find out who Hawkmoth really is.

Hawkmoth looked down at his own son wearing a green and red suit that symbolized his own demise and scowled. He didn't see the son he was supposed to care for with his wife Emilie now gone but instead, a boy that was getting in his way like Ladybug, Chat Noir and Sir Noir. With one swift moment, he lifted his hand and slapped his palm across Adrien's cheek to shut him up.

But that just made Adrien boil over. His cheek red and burning with the steam from his pot he whistled back, "you think we're just going to give up?! Well then you're brain must be full of shit! We will defeat you today, you just made it easier for us by crawling out of your mom's bas.e.m.e.nt!" Adrien didn't hold back in his insults and he spat out every word with no remorse for the middle-aged man behind the mask.

Hawkmoth paid no mind to his son's comments and turned to Street Fighter. His eyes were hollow with no remorse but still instructed, "don't lay a hand on the boy. Focus on finding Ladybug and Sir Noir!" He turned to look back at the night sky with a glimmer of twisted hope in his eyes.

Street Fighter scoffed and drew his fist back, "this fly is part of my problems! Why should I let him off the hook?" With a smile, he was ready to fill his d.e.s.i.r.es of destroying everything that he believed to take Marinette away from him but as the white butterfly fluttered away from his glove, Street Fighter's exterior dissolved to reveal Luka. He fell to the floor in rotten confusion and looked up to see Hawkmoth hovering over him with a look of disgust.

"Thank you for getting me this far my little Akuma." The little butterfly flew over to his master and was turned purple once more, "But I think I can take it from here."

Sending the little purple butterfly away it wasn't long until it turned around and absorbed itself into Hawkmoth's purple staff turning it and himself a golden yellow.

"How did you guys not figure out who Hawkmoth was back then? Didn't you find any clues in the last few years to point to who he could be?" Marinette questioned Master Fu and Sir Noir who gave each other knowing glances yet neither jumped at the chance to either.

After a silent moment, Sir Noir sighed and softly trod, "there have been tiny clues to point to one person but we couldn't really be sure until we had solid proof."

"Which we haven't been able to acquire since he moved to Paris," Master Fu cut in.

Sir Noir sighed and faced his master with a glowering and uneasy smile, "well that's not true...A few nights ago I woke up in the middle of the night after hearing someone step past my room. I followed them downstairs to the study and..."

"Why didn't you come to me sooner about this! This is enough to prove his identity!" Master Fu sighed dejectedly as he rubbed his temples.

Marinette on the other hand, tilted her head in confusion as she couldn't latch on to the conversation, "I don't understand. What does someone walking around at night have to do with anything?"

"Marinette," Sir Noir continued, "I saw my uncle walk into his study and push indents into the painting of his wife then walk into a secret passage. He didn't return until the sun started to rise and when he left I went through the passage too." Sir Noir got up and told Master Fu in a serious tone, "I walked down a dark passageway that had two different rooms, one almost completely empty but..."

Master Fu rubbed his temples more and muttered, "this isn't what I wanted. I was hoping you were just being manic in London about everything."

"What are you two talking about? What was in the room and why does he even have a room like that?!"

Sir Noir clenched his fists and grit his teeth, "when I walked into the first room I saw my aunt laying in a glass case surrounded by white, purple and blue flowers surrounding her. She was alive but everyone believes her to be dead. I ran away in horror only to enter another room, the one I was talking about before being almost completely empty." He spit out in anger, "I knew ever since he talked down Bridgette in London that it was him but I never wanted it to be true...

Master Fu didn't say a word as he turned the radio up to listen to how Hawmoth released Luka only to akumatize himself.

"Sir Noir, I don't understand..."

He looked at her with his face flaring crimson red with anger, "there were pure white akumas fluttering all around the room when I swung the door open. Gabriel Agrest,"

"--Is Hawkmoth." Marinette's eyes widened as she finally connected the dots she didn't want to see. Thinking back to all the times he abandoned Adrien and made him learn different things to keep him busy was to keep him out of the house so that he could akumatize people. "Adrien was fighting against his father this whole time."

The three of them didn't meet the other's eyes realizing what kind of mess they've all made with not knowing the true identity of Paris' villain Hawkmoth.
