Miss Ordinary: I Was Reborn To Love You!

Chapter 45 - Adamantly stubborn

Finally, after an intense workout of playing around, everyone helped each other to the chairs. Tao who was standing by the side held himself from giving a piece of advice at their childish behavior. It was okay to play around, but wasn't it stupid to play until their energy drained out? However, what surprised him the most was the fact that his aloof president was one of those people. Tao sighed.

"Alright," Eric Wu spoke, garnering the attention of everyone.

"Cheers to new friends and new little brother," he said as he rose his glass.

"Cheers!" the rest shouted as they rose their glass. Soon, the sound of glasses clashed rang, solemnizing the beginning of today's small banquet.

Maybe because everyone was hungry, no one talked about the serious incident that occurred this afternoon. Until the end, the only serious topic being discussed was Sun Nan's table manner. Everyone agreed with Lu Fei that he should eat more instead of speaking more.

"President, the head of security is on the line," Tao approached Eric Wu with a phone in his hand. He tried to be discreet as possible as not to disturb the merry atmosphere. Eric Wu gave a subtle nod and walked to a quiet area so that he could take the call without any disturbance.

Bella Lim noticed him leaving and her gaze followed him to where he was at. She was anxious when she saw his expressions changed. When he looked at her direction, she could see the darkening gaze of his.

"What is it?" she murmured to herself. Her hand clutched on her jean as her instinct told her that it was related to the incident this afternoon.

Little pumpkin who was giggling at Sun Nan's another silly joke, noticed his big sister's fidgety manners.

"Big sis, are you okay?" he asked, slightly worried. He tugged the sleeve of her t-shirt to get her attention. His solicitous manner towards his big sisters brought Sun Nan and Lu Fei's attention to them.

Bella Lim was startled. Then, when she realized that all eyes were on her, a smile was fast on her face to mask the troubled look she had. "My stomach feels uncomfortable," she said exaggeratedly, putting her hands on her stomach with a grimace on her face.

"Big sis needs to poopoo?" little pumpkin asked. His innocent face tilted to one side to see her reaction. Bella Lim blanked for a moment, uncertain on how to proceed with her lie.

"Y-yes," she forced herself to admit. At the same time, she could feel her cheeks getting warmer.

"Let me show you the way to the restroom," Lu Fei who was listening rose from his seat. Sun Nan made a disgusted gesture, pinching his nose as he shooed her away.

"Go, go… I can already smell the smell," he taunted, purposely swatting the empty air. Bella Lim stared at him with a blank expression. Did Sun Nan believe that she needed to poop too? Eh?

"Hehehe, big sis looks like she needs to poopo this big," little pumpkin giggled as he made a big circle with his hands.

Bella Lim chuckled, knowing that she couldn't deny even if she wanted too. 'Might as well leave,' she thought. She excused herself and followed Lu Fei who was already waiting behind her.

Not long after they left, Eric Wu approached the table and saw that two people were absent, he asked Sun Nan about their whereabouts. Once he got the answer he wanted, he left the area while reminding Sun Nan to look after little pumpkin.

Bella Lim had just walked out of the restroom when Eric Wu arrived.

"Follow me," he said without explaining further. Bella Lim and Lu Fei looked at each other before making haste behind the man who had left, leaving such a big gap for them to catch up. They didn't go far as Eric Wu brought them inside the first room he encountered. It was the gaming room where Lu Fei and Sun Nan suffered loses against Eric Wu.

"Is this about what had happened this afternoon?" Bella Lim asked as she sat on the single sofa in the room facing the man that brought her here. Lu Fei was standing nearby, his body leaned against a wall. He stared at his friend with eyes as curious as Bella Lim.

"Yes," Eric Wu responded. He stared at the woman in front of him who then looked away quickly, dismissing his gaze.

"What's the verdict?" Lu Fei asked. He walked to one of the sofas available and sat with his elbow on his t.h.i.g.h to support his body from falling forward. He tilted his head to look at Eric Wu, curiosity at its peak. Bella Lim fidgeted, knowing that soon she would know the reason why someone wanted to kidnap her brother.

"I have those people under custody. Based on the current investigation, it looked like a normal kidnapping attempt. No syndicate involved," Eric Wu explained while looking at Lu Fei and then to Bella Lim. He almost let out a sigh when she once again avoided his eyes.

"That's good," Lu Fei relaxed. "Will you personally handle this or get the police involved?" he asked.

Eric Wu chuckled. His finger danced on the armrest, eyes staring at Bella Lim. "What do you want to do?" he asked in a low voice. Bella Lim felt chill on her back upon hearing his voice. She stared back, trying to see if there was anger in his eyes. He looked calm.

"I…," she said with uncertainty. The struggle could be seen on the tightly knitted brow on her face. She looked down, staring at the floor. When she heard Eric Wu's explanation, the first thing that came to her mind was the driver's eyes. She remembered feeling terrified when she met those purely evil eyes.

"Was it really a one-time attempt?" she blurted out her suspicion. Then she looked at Eric Wu, speaking: "Can I meet those people?"

Lu Fei's mouth was agape when he heard her request. He immediately looked at Eric Wu who seemed to be taken aback as well. It seemed that they were both didn't see this coming.

"Why?" Eric Wu asked. Astonishment flashed in his eyes. He was surprised at her request because if it was other people, they would simply leave the rest to the law. In this case, it was normal for Bella Lim to just push the responsibilities to him since he had enough resources to bring tribulation to these people.

"Bella, I think it's best to leave this to Eric," Lu Fei spoke, persuading the woman to drop the idea. He didn't want her to meet or be involved with people that almost gave her a traumatic experience.

Bella Lim looked at the two men with eyes that showed dissatisfaction. "I insist. Please!" she said, adamant to her request. What if there was more to this? She couldn't resist this thought.

Once again, the two men looked at each other. Lu Fei shook his head, insisting the other to ignore Bella Lim's request. However, when he saw Eric Wu smirked, he knew, he was defeated. That man was now on board with the stupid request of Bella Lim.

"Sure, but not today. I'll bring you to them when the time is right," he said, smiling elaborately.

Seeing the smile, Bella Lim trembled a little. She could tell what he was planning. This man would let those people think that there was hope for them, giving sweet candies coated with slow killing poison. The time they thought that salvation was on their hands would be the time their suffering begins.

This was what she learned from the crime books Enlai Gong had written.
