The group was a little shocked to know that they were enslaved and controlled by an eye demon, however, even more shocked to see 25 ferocious tier 2 nether beasts obey Max's every command.

While Max dismissed 22 of them, he kept one for Sebastian to ride on and two to scout ahead.

The group had learnt the hard way that Max's scan was not guaranteed to detect incoming dangers and hence they now added an extra layer of protection in the form of the nether beasts.

" We are way too weak in this dungeon " Asiva said, ashamed of falling under mind control and attacking Max

" Yeah sorry Ma-, Ravan we'd be toast without you " Anna said, as she got a stern glare from Asiva for almost using Max's real name.

" I don't like your dogs, they stink ". Sebastian said grumpily as he rode the same stinky dog against his will.

Sebastian was way too slow when it came to running away from danger, hence the group had voted for him to move on a mount and that is how he ended up in this situation.

" Arrrrruff " The scouting hound began to growl ahead giving the group a signal that something ahead was wrong.

Max quickly used scan and found out that there were a few humans walking ahead.

" Humans or errr some other bipedal species " Max said, realising that they maybe some other species too.

Anna tightened her armour and pulled out two of her strongest arrows as she used them as support holds as she climbed a nearby tree with extreme agility.

" Wow " Sebastian commented looking at Anna climb as he then looked at his own short arms and wondered if he could do it too.

Anna reached the tree top and found out that the group moving ahead was composed of none other than their own academy colleagues.

It was a group of five students, including the angel Ferial and the mage Zeref.

All five members of the group looked to be critically injured and looked to have just barely escaped a battle.

Their armour looked charred and some of them were missing a limb in what Anna could only assume was reduced to dust by a powerful dragonbreath.

Quickly climbing down, Anna said " they are our lovely classmates Ferial and crew, seems like they have battled a dragon and ran for their lives with their tails tucked, we could attack them and loot everything they have obtained uptil now from their corpses "

There was a certain coldness to Anna's voice when she suggested this and all eyes naturally moved towards Max.

Although there was no set power dynamic in the group, with Max proving his reliability time and time again, everyone else psychologically began looking at him as the leader.

Max thought about attacking Ferial and crew for a second and weighed the pros and cons of doing so.

Max did not want unnecessary beef with his own classmates, however, the opportunity was too good to pass on and hence Max decided that even at the risk of offending an angel he wanted to fight for the treasures they had on them fair and square.

" We attack, but we do it smartly. We set up an ambush and take out Ferial first, I'm sure we can deal with the rest if it comes down to it ". Max said as he began brewing a plan in his mind as to how exactly to set up an ambush.

Whistling for his nether beast, Max made a slight cut on its abdomen such that it kept leaking a steady stream of blood as Max instructed the beast to quickly but discreetly run a circle around the enemy group.

" Anna, take the trees, aim for the throat of Ferial first.<novelnext> </novelnext>

Asiva, create the opening distraction with an exploding dagger, best case scenario would be you blow Ferials head off.

And Sebastian….. ". Max stopped mid-way giving the orders as he looked at the eager Sebastian and wondered what he could even do?

" Ride the nether beast into battle and wreak havoc! " He said eventually as Sebastian began beating his chest as if he was a primitive ape.

[ Death Circle ]

The moment Max felt that the circle of blood was completed he used his move Death Circle and caught Ferials group completely off-guard.

" I have suddenly started to lose 2 HP every second, what's going on? ".

" Me too, I'm losing HP as well "

" Am I poisoned ? "

" Am I bleeding? "

Everyone began inspecting their own bodies as to why they suddenly started to lose HP and it was in this distracted state that Asiva threw a deadly dagger aimed straight at Ferials neck.

"Ambush!" Ferial screamed as she narrowly dodged Asiva's attack, however, unfortunately for her the dagger exploded right near her ears, and although she dodged it the explosion knocked her to the floor with a ringing ear pain.

The moment Ferial was down and clutching her ears in pain, Anna immediately let an arrow loose and pierced her neck clean as she killed Ferial with the attack.

" Muahhahahahaha ". Sebastian laughed like a savage as he rode into battle over a netherbeast and stabbed an armless student in the gut causing -1200 damage.

Arrows, daggers and many more hounds attacked the group viciously from all directions as Max casually strolled onto the battle location with Bloodsucker in hand.

" It's- It's the hound! ". Zeref said as he looked at Max with shock and horror.

" We are colleagues, this is despicable! You should be ashamed of yourself ". A student said to Max rolling in pain on the floor as Max used an Overhead slash to send him to the afterlife as he said " I'm very very sorry, I'm indeed extremely ashamed. Your speech before death has opened my eyes ".

The faces of the group turned deathly pale when they heard his words, then slowly into a shade of red as they were angered by Max's shamelessness to their cores.

" Why you…? ". Zeref growled in anger as he tried to conjure a spell but was mercilessly shot down by Anna.

" Why you what? I have already decided to attack you guys, now we are enemies. What point is there to talk to me before you die?

Just shut up and save your breath for the reunion session outside the dungeon. There you can rant all you want ". Max said as he sliced Zeref's head off.
