24 Chapter 24 Goblins

Alex watched and finally before the group could swing into action, Alex heard a small crackle. He turn his eyes away from the deer and looked carefully at one particular pile of grass.

The grass moved forward a little and Alex knew someone was using the grasses as camouflage.

'That's obviously a player, I think he's also trying to kill the deer, and he's so good at hiding... maybe he's an assassin like me'

The player won't be able to kill the deer alone so Alex didn't worry much about the player, Alex heard a noise and the deer sprang into action.

[-7 HP]

The deer stood up after Shin fired a rock bullet from his slingshot and hit the deer's back. The deer ran towards the other side planning to escape but Gabriel was already in position.

He stretched his hands and pictured the magic circle and immediately two Fireballs shot out from his hands in front of the deer.

He wasn't going for the kill, he was trying to stop the deer so it would run toward Alex and it worked. The fire that Gabriel shot quickly spread onto the grasses making the deer unable to continue.

The only way was towards Alex and the deer wasted no time in turning around and going towards Alex's direction because it couldn't see Alex yet.

Arthur and Max were close combat type so they couldn't participate but they blocked the deer from running away, ultimately the deer ran towards Alex.

Alex took a peek at the player hiding behind the grass and he was sure the player wouldn't be able to steal the kill, and that is if he could kill the deer.

The total HP of the deer was 70 and Shin's rock bullet only deducted 7 so he had to find a way of dealing with the remaining 63 HP.

Alex watched as the deer ran towards him, he tried to think of another way but there was nothing he could do. His eyes sighted Shin as he aimed his slingshot at the moving deer.

Alex didn't know what he was planning to do but he hoped it worked so he would have a higher chance of killing the deer.

Shin's rock bullet past Arthur with a whizzing and went straight to the deer's front leg.

*Boom*

[-5 HP]

The rock bullet hit the deer on one of its front feet, and the deer lost balance and crashed to the ground, Alex jumped out of the tree he was hiding and pounced on the deer.

Before the deer could register what happened, Alex drilled his dagger into the deer's neck causing blood to spill on the grass.

[-35 HP]

Alex watched as the deer struggled to get back on its feet, Alex didn't take any risk and quickly sat on top of the deer.

He removed his dagger and plunged it into the stomach of the deer this time causing more blood to spill on the grass.

'50 XP, killing an NPC is way better than this...this is much more stressful, but the loot is way better' Alex groaned and stood up.

Max and Arthur were the ones close by and they rushed toward Alex.

"Inventory" Alex mumbled without opening the system interface, the small rift opened close to him.

The deer turned into pixel leaving some items behind and Alex scanned them before putting them in his inventory.

[Adult Deer Skin- Rare]

[Adult Deer Meat- Rare]

[Deer Antlers- Rare]

"Guys we have a problem," Gabriel said as he came close to them.

Alex, Arthur, and Max turned around and saw a huge fire behind them, the Fireball that Gabriel shot spread onto the grasses and then to trees and now it's burning a large portion of the trees around.

"We got what we wanted, we should leave now," Alex said and the group walked forward not caring if all the forest is burnt down.

Alex stopped as he remembered that he saw a player hiding, he looked towards where he saw the player but nothing was there, the player must have escaped.

"Working together is really the best, I hope we get a really good price for the items, I can finally change my slingshot to a better weapon," Shin said happily.

"What other weapon is available for a marksman?" Gabriel asked.

"A Flintlock..."

"Is that an ancient..." Gabriel quickly shut his mouth as he looked around.

The group looked around them and they were surrounded, they were already on their merry way heading to the next village to sell the loot they acquired when a bunch of green skin creatures stopped them.

"Goblins..." Alex mumbled.

Alex looked around and counted a total of 20 Goblins, they were surrounded and had no way to escape the goblins except by killing them.

"I'm not sure we can escape this" Arthur said.

"Since when did you guys leave the newbie village?" Alex asked.

"I don't know...but it's an hour or so," Shin said as he took another rock bullet from the small pouch on his waist.

"I don't think we can escape this, so we'll have to fight our way through..." Alex sighed softly.

"How are we going to fight under these circumstances, we are clearly outnumbered and they all have weapons," Alice said.

"Goblins aren't that strong that's why they make up for that with their numbers, if we can evade and fight them separately we can possibly win," Max said.

"But I can't fight, I'm not a fighter..." Alice said.

"Only Max and Arthur are fighters, so they would be able to protect you, Gabriel is there a cooldown on your flames?" Alex asked.

"No, but it consumes Mana, and my Mana pool is really low," Gabriel said.

"Why aren't the goblins attacking, it's like they are waiting for us to strike or they are waiting for something to happen" Shin spoke and also immediately another green skin emerged from the forest.
