84 Chapter 84 Brilliance

"Don't worry, you can't really kill me in case you don't know, I'm just using this to learn, if I can't defeat you then I'll just retreat" Max spoke with confidence.

"It seems you are still under a delusion, I'm going to make it clear to you that you and I are very different"

The player dashed towards Max's right side, Max immediately reacted and stretch his sword to block the attack but the attack never came instead the player sidestepped to his left side and swung his sword.

Max couldn't block the attack so he jumped backward but the sword still injured him.

[HP 55/80]

'Shit he still got me, his speed is the problem here, I'm going to increase my speed when I level up next' Max said inwardly.

"What's wrong...are you surprised?" the player smirked and charged towards Max again.

"Screw this, guys help me" Max shouted and the player stopped.

Max turned around and no one came out to help him, Max was shocked as he looked around the forest, his friends were supposed to be behind him.

The player looked at Max and burst into laughter, "So now you call your imaginary friends to help you,"

"Guys what are you doing" Max shouted again but still no response.

Alex was staring at Max as he called for help but he didn't answer, during the battle he left where he was and stood at the back of the player just in case.

Gabriel and Rebecca also didn't answer because they were busy whispering to themselves without paying attention to Max's battle.

"Is that supposed to sacred me or what" the player sneered and attacked Max.

Max was surprised that no answer came, maybe they went off to attack someone else and left him there, meaning he was on his own.

The player started as the aggressor again and quickly attacked Max, he sidestepped to the right and dodged the attack, but before the player could attack again he jumped backward.

Max was now convinced that his friends weren't around to protect him, if he loses the battle he would lose five levels meaning he would be in danger of losing his account if he was killed again, so he couldn't afford to lose.

The player in front of him was a level 8 player and Max hasn't succeeded in inflicting damage on him.

"Wait...I haven't even attacked, I'm busy blocking and evading his attacks" Max mouthed as he charged toward the player this time.

"Haa..." Max shouted as he attacked the player.

Instead of dodging the attack, the player chose to block with his weapon so he would have the chance to attack Max before he could block but that strategy came to backfire on him.

As the player blocked the attack, the strength behind the attack was heavy that he staggered backward, Max immediately saw an opportunity and quickly swung his sword again.

This time the player was too close so he had no choice but to block the attack, the player was blocking Max's attacks and moving backward till he was close to a tree but he wasn't aware.

Max put enough power in his next attack and struck the player, he blocked and staggered backward and immediately hit the tree behind him.

Max smiled as he launched another attack, the player block and their swords clashed, Max removed his left hand from his sword's handle and held the blunt side, and pressed it so he could overpower the player.

The player had no choice but to do the same but Max was still pushing the sword closer to him every passing second till the swords were just inches away from GoodGuy's neck.

"Haa..." both of them screamed as they struggled, Max was trying to kill the player and he was trying to defend himself.

"Both of you are really strong" a voice spoke taking both of their attention.

Alex was standing beside both of them close to the tree with a smile on his face, his mask was still his inventory, both of them were surprised at the sudden appearance of Alex and the player saw the look on Max's face.

"Hey, help me kill him, I would reward you well" GoodGuy spoke as he saw Alex's level.

"Really... I would gladly do that if you can agree to my price, I'm an assassin so money is really my thing, and if none of you offer me any I'll kill you both" Alex spoke with a sly smile on his face.

"How much do you want?" GoodGuy asked as he struggled with Max.

Max wasn't afraid that Alex might kill him but he wanted to play along maybe Alex had a plan.

"I'll give you double of what he's offering if you help me kill him" Max shouted.

"Double that's nice, but I need 5000 blue coins, I don't care who give them to me, but that's all I need, I need to buy some new equipment" Alex spoke.

"Good... I'll give you 5000 coins" GoodGuy shouted and Alex immediately attacked Max.

Max was still struggling with killing the player as Alex tackled him, both of them fell to the ground and their swords were knocked down.

Alex and Max struggled but Alex overpowered Max and sat on his back, Alex placed one of his daggers on Max's neck and took him to stay still or he dies.

"Pay up" Alex spoke.

"You haven't killed him, I want to be the one to kill him," GoodGuy said.

"You want me to let him go and give him a sword so you can kill him, or you pay up and I kill him, remember he said he would give me double and you can't defeat me or should we try that," Alex said with a hoarse voice.

"Okay no problem," the player said and his coins appeared in his hands.

Now that Max was off his body he would be able to kill him but if Alex joins the fight he would stand no chance against the two of them so he handed Alex the coins.

The currency of Nova Online was blue coins, it was given its name due to the color of the coins, the coins had different grade and value so it was divided into 6.

1 blue coin, 10 blue coins, 50 blue coins, 100 blue coins, 500 blue coins, and 1000 blue coins.

Each amount was boldly written on each part of the coins, the player handed Alex 3000 blue coins and Alex placed them in his inventory.

"What about the rest?" Alex asked.

"I'll give you the rest after you kill him," GoodGuy said as he walked towards his sword and picked it up.

"Hey Alex get off me, you have done enough" Max snorted.

"Hey we just got 3000 additional coins thanks to my brilliance, so shut up and stay put," Alex said.

"W-What...what are you talking about?" GoodGuy asked with his eyes widely opened.

"We are friends and we just extorted 3000 coins from you, this will help us in our quest to become top players, so thanks," Max said.

Alex stood up from Max's back and Max sat up, the player was now on the defensive as he slowly moved backward, he wasn't going to fight a level 12 player even though he was an assassin.

The player knew assassins were masters of stealth but he didn't know Alex's skill or fighting ability so running was his only choice.

"Going somewhere?" Gabriel asked from behind and GoodGuy quickly turned around.

"I should be the one to kill him, you guys already killed those guys we met earlier," Max said as he grabbed his sword.

"Hey, we are both level 8 so maybe I should kill him, or do you want to kill him?" Gabriel looked down as he asked.

"No I'll pass," Rebecca said as she stood up.

'Shit...they are arguing about who would get to kill me, my way back to the city is blocked, and they purposely left a path for me to run to but I'm sure it's a trap, what would I do' GoodGuy thought about his best course of action.

"You already fought him, you had your chance," Alex said.

"I was on the verge of winning, you were the one who stopped me" Max sneered.

"But I got 3000 coins, that's probably all the coins he had from killing newbies and low-level players, we are avenging their deaths," Alex said with a smile.
