Morningstar Of Sin

Chapter 52 - A Failure Of A Father

(A/N: If it isn't already obvious I think Odin is probably the worst written character of the MCU. His motives are stupid. He gets caught in lies, he is rash, and above all an awful father. Hela for president 2020 lol.

His face goes red as anger boils to his face. "LUCIFER! I will only take so much insult before I banish you as well."

I roll my eyes "Oh shut up old man, if I wanted to I could kill you and take this realm. If not for our past relations I would have already." My eyes harden as I meet his angry gaze.

"Now tell me, why did you banish the child who did something you couldn't in 300 years at war? A child probably barely over 1000 years old managed to kill your greatest enemy for thousands of years. Maybe he was about to commit genocide but he isn't the first one in this room to do so, right?" My eyebrows raise as I question him.

His teeth grit hard as he turns into a tomato "YOU."

"Me what? I haven't felt genuine emotion in millennia yet I would still make a better father than you. I have decided. The punishment for breaking the contract will be your other child, as well as Helheim, where is your other daughter?" My voice leaks genuine anger at this old man's stupidity.

He looks taken aback as the anger turns to surprise "I don't rule over Niffleheim… and what other, daughter?" He asks, averting his gaze.

The guards around the room begin mumbling among each other. I smirk seeing that he thinks I don't know of her. If Metatron hadn't told me I wouldn't have known but now I already know so I will not let it go.

"Yes, the daughter that is foretold to be your strongest child?" My eyes move to Frigga "Your first blood-related daughter."

Angela looks at them both curiously as well. "Everyone out," Odin orders his men with a sigh as he walks back to the throne to sit down.

Angela and I step closer eager to hear his story while Frigga keeps an arm on Angela without looking up obviously ashamed. This only sparks my curiosity as I turn back to Odin who is massaging his head.

Once the guards leave the room he lifts his head looking at us "My daughter was born only a few years after the… invasion of the angels." His eyes linger sadly on Angela as he speaks.

"After that, I vowed my next child would be a powerful leader. Her name is Hela, she awakened with the domain of death much more powerfully than Thor with his lightning. Since the day she was old enough to wield a sword, I began training her how to fight and wield her ability."

"She was given Mjolnir that was made for Aldrif but she was not suitable for hammers so she used a sword instead. Just as I had planned she was the strongest warrior in Asgard besides me before the age of 900." He gives a small chuckle.

"I remember the day she beat the captain of the valkyries she was so happy." His smile falls as he sighs. "But her ambition was too large. She was angry that I only signed treaties and let the realms govern themselves. She wished to rule them."

"We started arguing more and more often about her ascension since Frigga was again pregnant. But it was around that time everything changed. I was ambushed and injured by Gorr The God Butcher. In a fit of rage, she tracked him down and slaughtered him taking his weapon."

He grips the throne cracking the armrest "That sword… it corrupted her. She became more prone to violence killing people for the smallest offense. Eventually, I got word that she wanted to overthrow me and take the throne."

"I couldn't bring myself to kill my own child… I ordered her to a mission in Helheim. The valkyries held her off while I sealed her in a cursed marble of reality until Thor will be strong enough to stop her…" He holds his hand over his face leaning on his throne obviously ashamed.

I look at him without a hint of pity "F.u.c.k.i.n.g failure."

I turn to face Angela as I continue "You can stay here and have dinner with your step-mother and that poor excuse for a royal turd. I will go fetch your younger sister."

Angela nods in agreement as she gives Odin a conflicted look. At the same time, Thor comes walking through the main doors again with a massive Keg on his shoulder.

"Alright let's start drinking!" He says with a massive grin but it slowly fades seeing Odin's sullen expression and the lack of guards around the room.

I nod goodbye to the brat as I pass and head towards the bridge. After I get out of the main doors I remember that the Bifrost is destroyed and I'll have to go ask Yggdrasil for a ride again. I sigh as I spread my wings and vanish.

Yet again I appear in the infinite darkness to see her branches grow towards me. No figure raises from the branches as I hear a voice in my head.

"What is it? I'm watching the tag team lovers fight." A more womanly voice than her usual echos in my head.

"I wish for passage to Helheim, Nifleheim is fine if you aren't able," I say with a small smile.

"Go on your way, I'm busy." as she speaks a hole opens in the darkness extremely far below me. A wry smile grows on my face as I fly at max speed towards the hole. After a few minutes of flying, I make it into the hole appearing in a land of frozen wastes and chilling water and ice.

The water itself is littered with corpses leading a shoreline spanning miles wide. Four thousand years ago Odin and I fought a massive dragon on these shores, it was pretty fun. It's too bad the Odin of today is such a weak letdown.

It appears I have landed on the shore of corpses in Niflheim, quite a distance from Helheim. In the distance, I can see the Fence of the fallen as they are walls that tower thousands of feet high. The souls wash up on the shore then must make the trek to Helheim on the road to Hel.

I take my time flying over the mountains watching the dead souls struggling to get over the rough terrain in the harsh wind and snow. On my right hidden in the mountains hides the halls of Nastrond where the corpse of the dragon I killed lays forever sealed.

I finally reach the fence of the fallen to see Garm laying at the gates eyeing me from below. That dog-like wolf has been the guardian of Helheims gates since I learned of its existence 10,000 years ago. I land next to it as I walk with the corpses into the gates of Hel.

The hound is nearly twenty-feet-tall with deep black fur and fire trailing its body that lets off steam causing the rest of the area to be misty. I smile at it as I pass, it keeps its eyes fixed on me like a sentry but doesn't move.

As I am about to pass the hound quickly turns to me with a wide mouth trying to eat me. "Sit boy," I speak with pride as a small smile adorns my face.

I stop in my tracks and look at the hound as it obeys my words sitting properly like a well-trained show dog.

"Now lay down," I say stepping towards it the snow falling makes a watery puddle as it lays down. The hound does as I say and lays down making my smile widen "Good boy." I say as I pet its snout softly.

It growls a bit, scaring the nearby souls but I only smile at I pet him more roughly. "I know you don't like me being here but I will soon be the owner of this place So get used to it. Rest here a while and keep doing your job." I give the hound one last pat as I walk away.

Walking through the gates I see a giant orb of grey like cement. I approach it and I feel the power of Odinforce holding the shape of the realm together. For someone who mainly does melee fighting, he sure is good at curses.
