He was busy reading the transaction reports that the finance department sent to his office earlier. His eyes were glued on the doc.u.ment, but his mind was on something else. Scratch that—someone else. Hero couldn't forget the woman he shared the night before. Giving up with a sigh, he dumped the doc.u.ments on his desk and rubbed his temples.

Daryl was late. What's taking him so long? Getting the information about that woman should be easy since she's working in one of his companies. There was no way he couldn't get what he needed.

Still, Hero waited for his assistant. He didn't have a choice but to wait. Lifting his wine glass, he leaned back and stared outside his window. There was something about Luna Jiang that intrigued him. Remembering her face, he wondered if it was her clear bright eyes that showed depth and emotions.

There was a hint of defiance in her eyes; nevertheless, she was clear as daylight. She didn't have any ill intentions when she found out she'd slept with him. If she was another woman, she might have tried to use the situation to wrap him around her finger. But instead, Luna Jiang refused his advancements. She tried her best not to fall for his charm.

'Such an interesting girl,' Hero chuckled.

After an hour of waiting, Daryl finally arrived. Hero was still seething in anger, but his perfectly cold and emotionless face betrayed none of that.

"So what did you find?" Holding back his anger had been difficult. His patience waned for every minute that passed as he waited for Daryl.

Daryl noticed the hard stare Hero was giving him and nearly fell back, with fear in his eyes. His boss wasn't this impatient before. What could have happened to him?

"These are the details. Her profile and employee data that was stored in the HR department was incomplete, sir. So I have to run another background check to know if she was hiding something, which she did."

He then took a file from his case and handed it to his employer. Hero's lips curled in annoyance, but he still took the paper and gave it a quick scan. Comparing the employee's data to Daryl's report was kinda interesting. He was able to find out the missing details especially about Luna's family.

Interesting indeed. Who would have thought that woman was the daughter of his mortal enemy? What a small world. Stephen Jiang's illegitimate daughter fell to his hands, and Hero wouldn't waste a chance to get his revenge.

Seven years ago, his father ran away, taking all the money of their investors, leaving their family business in demise. As the eldest child, Hero was the one who'd shouldered all the problems his father left, as well as his debts. His father had left a huge debt, and Hero had to take up the place as the next head of the family to support his younger siblings.

Li Group of Companies started from shambles. Hero was the one who made strenuous efforts to bring it to its current glory.

Stephen Jiang was one of the investors whom he had to pay. After swallowing his pride, Hero attempted to ask an extension to pay his father's debt, but Stephen Jiang refused and forced him to pay the exact amount in two weeks.

Not having enough connections and experience in handling business, Hero was left to his own devices to solve the problem as soon as possible. He was able to pay the debt, but the refusal left a hard impact on him that he still bore a grudge against the man he thought was a friend of his father.

But Luna Jiang isn't her father. The difference between the two Jiangs was obvious to Hero's eyes. Luna didn't bear the same greed as her father. His eyes continued to read Luna's details, and he was quite amused to find out that she exceeded his expectations.

"She left the Jiang Corporation?" It sounded more like he was stating a fact than asking a question.

"Yes. Miss Jiang left the company three years ago after her sister got a promotion. It wasn't clear why she left since there were no records stating the reason about her sudden resignation but …"

Hero lifted his gaze and waited for Daryl to continue. Daryl felt a lump form in his throat under his master's gaze.

"Well, it was just a rumor so I didn't include it to the report—"

"Tell me."

"It was said that there was a rivalry between her and her sister. Apparently, Miss Sienna Jiang offended Miss Luna so the latter left and renounce her affinity to her own father."
