Luna carried on chatting with them, knowing that Aiko wouldn't surrender easily. She would come back later and would attempt to humiliate her more. Aiko must be cursing her inwardly for treating her outside her circle of friends.

Frankly speaking, she could have just skipped this event, if not for Hero's request to cut her ties off from Jasper personally. If she didn't do it today, it would be difficult for her and Hero to have a harmonious relationship in the future.

Not that Luna was expecting to fall in love with Hero, but at least they could be civil to each other. Who knew… maybe they could be good friends in the future?

However, there was something that made Luna uncomfortable from her seat. As if sensed by her sixth sense, she looked around saw Jasper Mo staring at her with longing eyes. They were separated from each other by the wide distance of the banquet hall, but their eyes were able to find each other.

Luna tuned out everything around her as she stared back at her ex-boyfriend.

Music started up and filled the hall, breaking the trance between the former couple. As if he'd seen for the first time, Jasper nodded at her slightly and smiled even though his own heart was breaking.

For years, he wanted this woman to become his wife; but because of a moment of weakness, he could only bow his head and let her go.

This woman had been his greatest love, and she'd given him the love he had yearned for. The only woman who hadn't used him and unlike Aiko who only wanted him because of his 'Young Master Mo' status. Unfortunately, he didn't deserve Luna Jiang at all; she was only destined to be a passer-by in his life.

Whoever man who could have Luna, Jasper could only wish he would treat her right and with respect. He also hoped that the next man in her life would be faithful, unlike him.

In the end, Jasper admitted that he needed to face the consequences of his action. He knew he couldn't have Luna; he had no right to do so anyway.

It was Luna who broke the gaze and looked away. She couldn't understand why Jasper was staring at her like that. His eyes were like that of a deep lake that could draw people in. She wanted to ask why… how come they ended up this way?

Just now, there was a fleeting feeling of happiness when she saw him. However, the reality instantly pulled her out from her reverie, reminding her of what she was now… someone else's wife. She wasn't even Jasper's.

How could she forget that she did not deserve Jasper anymore and had no right to his affections?

Jasper also knew what kind of person Luna was. If she could endure for her loved ones, she would, but he would rather set her free than continue lying to her. He also didn't want to force her into his world in fear that he might only embarrass her.

He had yet to take a step forward to talk to her when someone rushed to him.

"Young Master Mo, your presence is now needed at the stage. Your father is looking for you."

Jasper Mo didn't even think twice. "Tell him you couldn't find me."

After he said this, he left. Before he could leave the banquet hall secretly, he heard footsteps coming his way.

His father came into his view, his body relying heavily on the cane on his hand to keep him stable.

"And where do you think you're going?"

Jasper sighed and turned to face him. He had no other choice anyway. "Dad."

"Where's Aiko? Shouldn't she be with you right now?"

"Should she?" Jasper raised a brow, not pleased with his father's words; but he didn't dare to delve deep into what his father wanted from him.

His father heard his nonchalant response and frowned.

"It was me who asked Aiko to invite that woman so your feelings for her could die completely. I will not allow you to continue this nonsense."

Jasper was surprised.

"That woman has a name, Dad," he hissed back. "And don't play innocent; I know that you were the one who sent Aiko to drug me so I would sleep with her."

Disappointed with his son's reaction, the old man shook his head.

"There are many women in this world that deserve you, but Luna Jiang isn't one of them."

"And you think a woman like Aiko Chen is someone I deserve, Dad? If she could stab her own friend in the back just to seduce me, I wonder if she'll kill me as I sleep to get the wealth of the Mo family," Jasper countered back, catching his father off-guard.

The old man refused to back down although what Jasper said made sense. Would he really allow someone like Aiko Chen to enter his household?

"Son, I have always known what you want since you were a kid, but you should also know the limit and how to strive to reach your goal with a few losses. You don't need to throw everything for the sake of one woman."

His words sounded reasonable, but Jasper couldn't agree to it. Because for him, throwing everything for her sake would be worth it. Luna Jiang was someone he wanted in his life that wasn't imposed on him by his own family. She wasn't some random woman that he could ignore.

Before he was able to answer his father, the staff earlier came back and looked nervously at the father and son. As Chairman Mo glared at his son, he wasn't sure if this was the right time to interrupt them. With hesitation, he decided to remind his boss of his purpose.

"Chairman Mo, President Li is looking for you."

The old man scowled and knitted his brows, making the wrinkles on his face more prominent. The aloof President of Li Group wanted to see him now?

"Hero Li? What does he want now?" he grumbled.
