i learned that angel was being bullied at school.

it had went on for a few weeks, but i hadn't noticed until her favorite knitted cap- the one we did together- was encrusted with mud.

"why didn't you tell me?" my voice was quiet, but the anger in my heart simmered.

her face still had a smile, but it was the smile that she had during her chemotherapies. "it wasn't important, brother."

i clenched my teeth. "it is. who did it?"

my sister shook her head and stared at me with her large, understanding eyes. "it's okay, brother. people carry much more in their hearts than they show."

she couldn't get out of her bed, so she feebly extended out her hand. i walked up to her and leaned in.

"just be a hero, brother. as long as one person is, it's okay." @@
