The day was a tough one. Clara made working hell for Gloria, but she did it with caution sending her assistant to fill Gloria's desk with files upon files. Clara did this so that by 8 when David was set to go home Gloria wouldn't have finished working.

Margaret and Hector came to assist her by 7 with Margaret threatening all the while to mutilate Clara. By 8 Clara came to her office to check if? Gloria was still there. She was happy when she saw Gloria still working on the files. Her plan had worked perfectly or so she thought.

"Don't leave this place till you are done with the file this is so you wouldn't come late again." Clara smirked folding her hands as she watched three of them fondle with the file of patients. "Now you know who's boss."

"You don't have to do this, you heard the boss you don't work for Clara anymore. Clara is getting on my last nerve!'' Magaret hissed.

''it's fine maggi.''

Just about a minute after 8 David came out from his office which was now next to Gloria's and frowned on seeing how distressed she was and the number of files on her table.

"Gloria please follow me. The rest of you go home it's late." David spoke with an air of authority that sent chills down everyone's spine. Like his voice came with the wind.

Margaret smiled so wide it took the grace of David for Clara not to kill her. Hector stood up and hugged Gloria, "Call if anything goes wrong please." He said, but he knew within his heart that she would never call except maybe in the point of death. Gloria was like that, she wanted to suffer it all alone.

David fought the urge not to push Hector away from Gloria. He was very jealous of how close they were. And this was exactly what Hector wanted.

Immediately Gloria said her Goodbyes to both her friends David held her hands and pulled her to the elevator not wanting her to spend another second with Hector.

Their ride home was quiet. Gloria's eyes hurt, she sort to rest it laying her head back on the chair through out and David was still seething. Contemplating if it would be better to break Hector's hands or to sack him.

"Dinner will be right up." David said to Gloria when they got to her room. Gloria simply nodded without saying much. She was tired, exhausted, confused and embarrassed. She never again wanted to break down in tears like she did this morning. She had to remain strong.

David hesitated before leaving, he didn't want to but from Gloria's expression he could tell that she wanted to be alone. He really wanted to be by her side through it all no matter how hard it maybe.

Immediately he closed the door she took in a deep breathe and sighed in relief. She looked around at the paintings of her in different backgrounds. In all the paintings she was happy. She wished she could be happy like that, like the way she was in these painting.

She loved one in particular. She was a?picture of happiness there, sitting on a rose garden with half a glass of wine?in hand, and the sun shining so bright behind her. A?rose was gently tucked in her hair.

She c.a.r.e.s.sed the picture fighting the tears that threatened to fall. She wished she could be as pure as she looked in that picture. The picture was nothing like her, stained, unworthy a mere victim of circ.u.mstance.

She tore her eyes away from the picture with great difficulty and went to take her bathe turning of the heater. She wanted to feel physical cold, a cold that could match the one in her heart.

When she was done she cleaned all the make up from her face revealing a face with blemish. There was a cut on her lips and head. She sighed and went to her diary where she scribbled ideas as a writer. She wanted to write but she didn't know what to. She took her pen and scribbled something, anything.

You are in my dreams and in my head. When I close my eyes and when I open them. My blood and my veins. In my mind and in my heart.

Should you leave there will be nothing but dust and ashes.

But, I was once told that I am a Phoenix.

A Phoenix

She wrote. She was surprised that she could still write poems. She thought she had lost the poet in her along with her purity and her heart.

Soon the door opened to reveal David clad in grey sweatpants and shirt that matched, a black body hug.

"You should lock the door." He said coming in but Gloria said nothing. She noticed the bulge in his pants, the one he thought he covered with the tray. She swallowed choking on her own spittle.

She didn't think she could be so turned on by a man, anyway he was not Julio.
