My Brother Pulled Me Into Another World

Chapter 15 - Pierce Skill, Status Poisoned

The snake was knocked back and shook its head. The slime who stood in between his master and the assailant. The creature was clearly insulted by this act and again poised to strike the culprit.

Ryuji was amazed that his familiar was unscathed. "What the hell happened?" He could not help blurting out his astonishment. The slime seemed to stand his ground versus such terrifying creature. He still has <Heightened senses> active because there are four smaller vipers nearby. They seemed to be watching the battle, but he did not let his guard down as they may strike any moment if he took a wrong step near to this venomous death trap.

The viper poised for its second strike. He was insulted that a mere slime would his display of power against his competitors. The other four vipers who were keeping distance were hissing and to him being larger than them, their hisses were mocking his presence. He could not contain his temper and triggered his aggressive nature.

The slime already read the snakes intention to strike again. These snakes once offended will strike aggressively to the culprit. Pyun-Pyun gathered its will to the incoming strike.

Ryuji sensing something going on with his familiar, he felt the urge to protect him. He gripped his spear raise it. He threw to the incoming attacker hoping it would pierce it or at least throw off its attention away from his pet. the snake was taken aback by the object that was thrown on its way. The slime was able to dodge on time because of it. It retracted its head and hissed dangerously. It was really pissed right now.

Then Pyun-Pyun launched itself for a counterattack. Ryuji assisted by casting <wind blade> aimed to its body. What astounded the goblin was Pyun-Pyun's next move. The slime made its tentacle like a sharp object and lunged forward to the assailant.

<Familiar Pyun-Pyun learned Pierce> the voice resounded. Ryuji was bewildered. His familiar learned a skill!

The sharp tentacle from Pyun-Pyun pierced the skull of the once proud snake. The slime bounced its way back to its goblin master. It jiggled vigorously like it was celebrating its victory.

The other snakes were also stunned by the outcome that the biggest competitor was killed by the tandem attack. On the other hand, their potential mate will surely be pleased with such venom can be harvested from the dead. The female Gu vipers are venom lovers, if the animals they eat contains venom they prefer such food to infuse this poison to make their own venom deadlier than usual.

Ryuji's magic attack was able to hack to its body. It made him a little smug that his effort practicing this magic had paid off. "Pyun, lets store this for dinner." He ordered pointing at the dead viper. Ryuji is still wary of the four smaller vipers present. The slime made small bounces as if it was celebrating. After all the dead snake was Pyun-Pyun's trophy. It was the first time it delivered a fatal blow.

The four other smaller vipers sensed that the victor will keep the spoils and immediately poised to strike threatening not to let the goblin and the slime pass and keep the body. The vipers hissed loudly to the slime who expanded its body to store the dead green vine pit viper. Their hisses were similar to protest and defiance of the slime eating the dead body.

Ryuji was dumbfounded by the other four snakes. He was astonished how shameless these snakes are. Earlier they were just watching to have one of their own killed in front of their eyes. Now they won't allow them to leave retrieving the body and even cooperating as a group. 'Was the battle earlier some ploy of these vipers? Or were they mad because i killed one of them?' These questions had slightly bugged the goblin's mind. It seems that these snakes show some degree of intelligence which made him a bit terrified. If these creatures can perform such complex communication, he might have trouble traversing through the forest. If a group of creatures have a fairly decent teamwork capability like wolves, he and Pyun-Pyun might be hunted instead or even get killed. But this was not the time to dilly dally and ponder on these thoughts. He sensed the attempt of the other snakes, closing in and trying to surround them. He started to prioritize how they counter if these four suddenly attack. They were close by, but they can still retreat from the direction where the first snake came from, their original direction to retreat. The reaction of the other snakes is threatening but assessing their movements it seems like they were they were threatening similar to a group of delinquent teens looking for a gang fight. The goblin blocked the evil gazes of the snakes while Pyun-Pyun happily engulfed the chopped remains of the Green Vine pit viper that attacked them earlier. The slime did not give a damn about the other snakes. After all, the first snake was the strongest. The rest of the snakes are smaller and inexperienced which was easier to kill.

One of the snakes could not bear to lose such prized venom for the mate and made its move to strike the goblin. It had announced its intent to recklessly fight rather than let them keep the remains of their fallen 'comrade'.

Ryuji crouched down and pressed his palms on the earth and shouted. He launched his <earth spike> to repel the oncoming attackers. He tried to imagine it hitting a certain area instead of an attack like his first kill rabivore kill. It made several long rock spikes that's about a meter in length manifest in an area he d.e.s.i.r.ed and made a certain radius covering all snake. The area looked like a hedgehog. However, the will was not enough and only able to hit three out of the four assailants. The magic spell was able to hit two, knocking them out of their momentum from their initial trajectory and throwing off their attacks. The third one was a critical hit, impaling its body to one of the spikes. The <earth spike> spell is surely helpful, it was successful to cast on his initial attempt, but its area of effect was small from what he originally intended. He needs to practice it. However, the fourth snake was able to escape the area of attack. This was the original snake that they first saw earlier. He instinctively had his arms on a defensive raised tried to block the incoming attacker.

In only a matter of seconds, the snake who escaped the earth had pierced the goblin's left arm and thus injecting its venom. Ryuji, violently swing its arm to the left throwing the venomous creature away several meters in the air and violently hitting a nearby tree trunk at his left side. "F.u.c.k!" He cursed inwardly. This was the situation that he was avoiding as much as possible, getting bitten by a venomous snake was not a good way to end his second life. He was avoiding such confrontation because he cannot gauge their venom's potency which could lead to his death. He tried to regain his senses and concentrate more on the altercation between him and the slithering menace. He immediately landed his gaze on the three snakes. The one that bit him seemed to be lifeless after it was violently fling it off from his arm. The other two that were hit by the <earth spike> were regaining their senses. Ryuji did not spare any moment and quickly casted <wind blade> on one and slicing its body off with the gust of wind. He will check the extent of the poison later. He needs to subdue his active attacker first. His wind attack garnered the attention of the second one who quickly retracted his head for its momentum and lunged itself forward.

Ryuji suddenly felt weaker and thought that this was due to the venom he received. He attempted to dodge from the oncoming pair of fangs, but a blue blur suddenly appeared in his vision. He saw Pyun-Pyun threw his body off between him and the attacking creature and impaling it with his <Pierce> skill landing a critical hit on the attacking snake. The lifeless body made a 'thud' sound as it fell from midair.

Ryuji exhaled a sigh of relief as he sensed no more vigorous movements within the area. The viper who bit him showed signs that it was alive, but its movements were too lethargic. He was guessing that it was still alive. The slime went to it and used its new skill on the weakened snake and delivering its final blow. Pyun-Pyun went to him. He was relieved that his familiar was unscathed again. That <Pierce> skill made his familiar, a walking dagger of some sort. However, his worries are far from over, he is poisoned.
