My Brother Pulled Me Into Another World

Chapter 64 - The Clueless Goblin is still Hunting

The thought of a god interfering with their operations in Zariya is quite troublesome. That may explain the slow growth of devotees for the past years. Yubis was about to speak his mind when Sefie spoke instead.

"This maybe actually be one of the gods have infiltrated Zariya then." Sefie was following the trail of thought that Yubis was leading to. Since the divine item possessed by a mortal was not reported to them, it most likely is an influence of another god. For decades they saw a decline of devotees. The population had been booming but the number of devotees seemed to be fixated on a certain level. Suppose to be, the numbers of devotees should be rising. Even if someone specifically adores or worships only one god, as long as they are affiliated with Tartarus, it is counted as a devotion. Another question also bugged Sefie's thoughts. "But how is she able to handle those powers? Moreover, how can she wield it freely?"

Mortals can pick up divine items, but they are easily corrupted or worse unable to handle the powers it has and dies. It was supposed to happen to the snake woman as she claimed the divine item that Vreta owns without the goddess of dreams bestowing it to her. It did offer her power to evolve halfway but if she kept it further, she might have succumbed to the artifact as it affected her rationality and mentality.

"I don't know how she can freely wield it but as for gaining powers I have an idea." Yubis replied. They already read a profile of Eliseyah de Floris. The woman does not even have a drop of mana in her stats. There was also a questionable data days before she married the count in the Pardis Kingdom. He felt that the divine artifact that the woman holds may have appeared around that time. Yubis then spoke to explain the fuel. "I can only guess but you know how people regard sėmėn and blood during the ancient times?"

Horus and Sefie looked at each other and they had some idea of it. Yubis then started explaining. "It was believed that sėmėn holds the power of a man. For warriors among tribes even if we trace back on Greek society, blood and sėmėn are sacred. Some tribes even practiced passing their authority on rituals by feeding their sėmėn to their successor."

"Indeed. I remember even I was set up by Set during the old times with sėmėn." Horus scratched his chin and looked above as if reminiscing during the ancient era. "I had to counter his claim with my own."

Yubis was not wrong with his hunch. Some of the divine items require some sort of lifeforce in order to be wielded to their full potential. Even gods have to be careful with such things. There are two possibilities with Eliseyah's golden artifact, it is probably cursed or perhaps it might be made within the ancient era. Those were fashionable during the ancient era to warn the mortals not to touch any divine items.

Hearing this, Sefie did contemplate the origins of Olympians before. During the era of the Titans and Kronos, some mentioned that when Kronos was slain, something was born with the blood that was spilled to the earth. With regard to a man's fluid, it is not far from those stories. It did also concern her that the woman Eliseyah was feeding herself with elven fluid which is quite a predicament. If Yubis did say that the woman was indeed getting power from the elven king witnessing his state, it would make her a formidable foe for anyone. "So, we at least know the principle of how it does work but how should we stop her? And we still have to save Takehiko which is a bigger problem then." Sefie contemplated.

"We need someone to overpower the divine item instead." Yubis replied. He remembered that beings who are only bestowed with divine items have the ability to wield such artifacts. A divine artifact that was not bestowed may act aggressively to whoever picks it up. He thought of a person that can do it which is coincidentally near Valereth.

"How should we do that?" Horus asked. Even if he initially tagged along, he could say he is now involved with this operation.

"We should ask Ryuji." Sefie replied. While both of them may no longer be brothers but since both of the memories of their previous lives are intact, the goblin brother may actually be able to stop things and save his brother from his previous life. "Afterall, we can have the older brother protect his younger brother rather than waiting for an opportunity."

With the Zariyan God's administration, there was a non-intervention pact designed by the previous god administrators that they should not interfere with the lives of mortals. With the alarm setup by Yubis, he had to wait for an opportunity to save Takehiko if in case he is in a critical moment. Takehiko is considered a demigod, or a person favored by the gods however the rule that was set by the previous Zariyan Gods cannot save Takehiko from danger. This rule is quite troublesome to remove. It can be lifted permanently if all the paper works have been filled but those paper works can span the length of Earth to Proxima Centauri which is quite a hassle. This is required as it will scrutinize every scope of a god's rule and how far it extends. A special administrative rule may actually allow temporary suspension of rules, but it is only good for a certain period which is acceptable to the Cosmos System. This is what Hades was applying for at the moment.

"You are not making sense, Sefie. How would the goblin stop that?" Horus was skeptical with the discussion. Indeed, the goblin has some divine items but how should it dispel things that are ongoing. Right now, the woman is indeed enjoying herself with the flesh of the men put under her power.

"Well, he or his familiar have not succumbed to any divine items going haywire?" Yubis pointed out.

It was not long before they encountered a tusker. Ryuji was quite surprised how it looked. Using <mana sense>, it looked like some blob of mana but if you looked at it closely, it is almost hollow, the only eye catching is it looked like a big circular but faint mana that is moving. Physically, it looked bigger than a non-magical boar. It was as tall as a cow and it has horns similar to a water buffalo. But Ryuji can consider it as an obese water buffalo plus tusks.

The first tusker they took down lasted about almost two hours. The creature was charging around aiming at them whenever possible. At first, Ryuji thought that he was in Spain. They looked like four matadors trying to take down a rampaging bull with four sharp horns. Pyun-Pyun was a big help. By the time that it charged three times, he was able to cast <earth wall> fending off the charging attacks of the tusker. That slowed down the creature as it suddenly had obstacles in charging. Although some of the <earth wall> slabs that Pyun-Pyun created seemed to have cracked and crumbled against the power of a charging tusker, it did slow down because in a short span of time, the clearing became a cluttered area with boulders. The <earth wall> was not that strong against a charging tusker but it was not weak either, so it considerably damaged the tusker who was charging at it. Because of that, the once flat clearing became some sort of a rocky terrain due to <earth walls> erected and had crumbled about a meter tall. Eventually the terrain became an issue with the tusker as it slowed down the charge of the tusker thus trapping it. It lost the distance to accelerate for its charge due to the uneven terrain and eventually trapping it with the slabs. Raiji was able to hang on and bite on the nape and holding the creature down then stabbed using <sword of tartarus> ended the charging streak of the rampaging creature.

Ryuji was glad that it was taken down because it was troublesome in moving around and charging them with the horns. His plan of avoiding magic was now lost. He originally planned to use only the neutral skills at disposal and try to wield the <sword of tartarus>. But basing on the behavior of the creature he can never do that right now and it took too much time. He did learn a thing though, utilizing <escape> several times it did sprout another skill, <Sprint> which he could guess that he did meet some conditions. He was thinking that he learned it because he was escaping from the charging path of the tusker rather than escaping from the vicinity of the actual creature. Pyun-Pyun and Fuji did learn <conceal>. To be exact, Pyun-Pyun learned <conceal> while Fuji unlocked <conceal>. Raiji did learn <Provoke> and <Overpower>.. Then unlock some of his skills which is <Lock bite> and <Increased Physical Damage resistance> which were the skills that he did use.
