24. Flowers without Name

Translator: Flora

To

prevent anyone from breaking in again, Chen Ming locked the door. Zhou Nan finished the last few strokes just

before he came back.

“Mmm, let’s see Painter Zhou’s work.” Chen Ming picked up the note and checked it.

“The petals are red and the center is black.” Zhou Nan explained.

Suddenly, Chen Ming’s teasing look changed, and Zhou Nan was surprised.

“Chen Ming, what’s wrong?”

He

walked to the bed, picked up his phone, and typed quickly. After a few

seconds, the

page finished loading. He turned

the phone to Zhou Nan and asked in a deep voice, “Is it the flower?”

The entire page was filled with pictures of flowers in assorted sizes, all of which resembled the fiery red flower.

“Yes, that’s right. What’s its name?” Zhou Nan confirmed, and couldn’t wait to look at the search bar.

It said poppy.

Zhou

Nan’s ear rang and

the excitement on his face disappeared. Chen Ming saw his

shocked look and knew he got it. He put down

his phone without saying anything with cloudy eyes.

For

fear that illegal poppy planting would be exposed, the villagers forbade

outsiders to enter the mountain. As Chen Ming persistently tried to break in, they thought he had heard about the poppy and came to

inquire, so they wanted

to kill him.

Now, all the extreme and bizarre actions had an explanation.

Zhou Nan naturally thought of another word.

Drugs.

The panic crept to every corner of the body in a flash-he knew the flower was strange, but he didn’t expect it to be so dangerous. He grabbed Chen Ming’s wrist and said, “Forget it. Leave this matter behind. It’s a huge patch of poppies. It’s too dangerous to get involved in drugs.”

Chen Ming was silent and slowly pulled his hand out. After a long meditation, he said, “Do you know what I’m thinking?”

Zhou Nan froze and didn’t know what to answer.

Without waiting for the answer, Chen Ming looked up at Zhou Nan, paused and then replied himself, “Zombies, Bai Wuchang did not lie. It’s hard to tell which is more serious, zombies or drugs.”

“Then…” Zhou Nan was tongue-tied, “Then at least call the police first?”

Chen

Ming shook his head and refused, “It is still possible to escape from a few

peasants, it’s harder to

get in after the police are

involved. I may even get arrested.

“Then what’s your plan?”

“My plan?” He compressed his lips and put on a serious look, “The first step, wash my face and brush my teeth.”

Zhou Nan knew he started teasing again and said with a dark face, “I didn’t ask you that.”

Chen Ming completely ignored Zhou Nan and continued his nonsense , “Then go downstairs and have some tofu pudding, I hope the breakfast shop is still open. Speaking of tofu pudding, salty ones are better.”

“To

be honest, I love sweet ones…”

Zhou Nan realized that he had been distracted

by Chen Ming and wanted to slap himself. Then he said,

“God damn it, stop it and

talk about business!”

“Finally,”

Chen Ming glanced at him meaningfully, walked into

the bathroom, and said lazily, “I’ll ask the

reception downstairs if the ancestral

graves were true. If so, bring some weapons to the

mountain tonight. Your arduous

task is to cover me.”

“This is your plan?” How sloppy!

“Hmm, I even take into account the food. It’s worth praising.” Chen Ming was complacent and began washing.

It was exhaustive but meaningless.

“My ass.” Zhou Nan rolled his eyes.

Suddenly, an idea popped into his mind. He seemed to know how to stop the man from courting death and smiled, “What if I don’t come with you?”
