55. The Unresponsible Ox Head and Horse Face

Translator: Haunted

On the way back to the flower shop, Chen Ming gave Zhou Nan a lesson.

The hell soldiers did not kill for people’s life. They took people’s soul. Just like the Hu family, the people who died in the hell soldiers’ hands would be gone for good and couldn’t recarnate. There would be no next life for them, and that was the real death.

Therefore, losing the hell soldier token was an extremely terrible thing.

As for how such an important thing was lost, it must start from Ox Head and Horse Face.

These two, like the Black and White Impermanence, were both ghost collectors. But when it came to professional ethics, they were far worse than the black and white brothers.

Ox Head and Horse Face were more secular, and couldn’t resist bribing. However, they only took the souls of the evil ghosts whom no one would plead or bribe for, so there was no big difference all along.

But it was said that one day, a descendant from a Yin-Yang family came to know the personality of Ox Head and Horse Face. He came to them and served them well. The man burned a lot of paper money to them, and claimed that he only wanted to go to the hell to see his young daughter, who died early.

Ox Head and Horse Face agreed and hid him in a group of evil ghost souls. Then they took him to the place. They let the father himself wander around in the hell, and in the meanwhile, they were feasting and enjoying themselves at home.

Theoretically speaking, a descendant from a Yin-Yang family shouldn’t mean any harm, but things could be unexpected. Nobody knew if the man saw his little daughter or not, but eventually he ran away with the hell soldier token, and skillfully used the power of the hell soldiers. Then he disappeared ever after.

Just like what they said, one should always be careful with a mortal man who had the ability and intention to do bad things.

When the king of hell reacted and interrogated Ox Head and Horse Face, they had long been drunken. Both knew nothing of the identity of the thief. So, because of this serious crime, Ox Head and Horse Face were both removed from their positions. There were no collectors to control the evil ghosts any more, so the ghost catchers on earth got more jobs to do.

Catching the evil ghosts to save merit and trade for life became popular after the theft of the hell soldier token.

After finishing the lesson, Chen Ming stopped talking for a while.

Along the way, they met a few pedestrians. There were a few girls among them who saw the shirtless Chen Ming. They were dodging him, but couldn’t help taking more looks.

Chen Ming was completely oblivious to these small matters, because the situation was quite serious now.

“That was too far from the topic.” He paused and warned Zhou Nan, “I think White Impermanence has been waiting for us in the flower shop for a long time. He can tell that we’ve met the hell soldiers. Remember, no matter what he asks, don’t mention anything about the hell soldier token.”

Zhou Nan listened but didn’t understand why.

Noticing that Zhou Nan didn’t respond, Chen Ming immediately asked seriously, “Did you hear me?”

Zhou Nan nodded without thinking about the reasons.

Sure enough, in the flower shop, Coal Ball was nowhere to be found, and there was White Impermanence in the northwest corner of the room. He stared at them motionlessly with his red tongue out. Zhou Nan really wanted to turn around and run under this horrifying gaze.

Chen Ming was not surprised at all. He raised his eyebrows and asked calmly as if it was just nothing, “You haven’t visited recently. What have you been busy with?”

“I’m busy with something that has gone missing for decades. The hell soldier token.”

The last three words made Zhou Nan tremble, so he lowered his head. Such a guilty reaction was all seen by White Impermanence.

Chen Ming nodded thoughtfully, strode to get a glass of water, then leaned back on the recliner and took a sip, “Keep talking.”

White Impermanence didn’t speak as he wanted. He changed the topic, “You have something else.”

“It’s your illusion.”

White Impermanence didn’t care about his disguise at all. He made it clear, “You have seen the hell soldiers. When, where?”

Chen Ming put down the cup and gently closed his eyes, “No, I haven’t seen them.”

“Lie!” Along with this shout, a strong wind out of nowhere went into the room, and it blew about a stack of empty spells on the table. The yellow papers were all flipped in the air, which made Zhou Nan terrified.

On the contrary, Chen Ming was still calm, and he repeated firmly, “I truly haven’t seen them.”

White Impermanence frowned deeply, with uncontrollable rage flashing in his dull eyes. He looked exceptionally scary. He threatened Zhou Nan and press him against the wall, “Where did the hell soldiers appear?”

Zhou Nan felt the extreme coldness, and the iron hook was giving off deathly light. It seemed that if he didn’t say it out, he would be dead.
