My Groom Ran Away Chapter 20.1

“Oh, what did she say?”

It sounded as if he just spoke lightly, but Bai Bo was Cheng Yuelin’s assistant and he instantly realized that “she” was not referring to Zhao Bing, but instead, Ruan Zhiyin.

Bai Bo breathed a sigh of relief and replied, “She said she did not know anything, but Zhao Bing appeared to be quite mad."

She was angry. Although Zhao Bing always dressed herself up to appear ‘dignified and composed’, she had only attended school for a few years and, as a result, she had little self-composure. From the tone of her voice on the phone, one could clearly conclude that she was exasperated.

After hearing Bai Bo’s words, Cheng Yuelin quickly lost interest and hung up the phone with a light hum.

In the room, the people were playing cards.

He was the only one slouching back on the couch. He lazily swirled the wine in the transparent wineglass in his hand and his dark black peach blossom eyes were thoughtful.

Jin Huang was Lanqiao’s most famous high-end private club. Rich and famous people were always coming in and out of its doors.

When they first came in, there were two female celebrities who were sitting in the guest room next door accompanying Young Master Yan to drink.

The other party saw Cheng Yuelin and greeted him.

Recently, Yan Mingfeng had been keeping out of trouble. He did not dare to send women to Cheng Yuelin’s side.

After all, the last time he sent a woman to Cheng Yuelin’s hotel. He was directly thrown out by Bai Bo on Cheng Yuelin’s orders.

“What is it, Brother Lin?”

Qian Fan, who had just finished a game of cards, came over.

Today was a private event, so the room only had Cheng Yuelin, Qian Fan, and Fu Chenyuan. There were also Cheng Yuelin’s two other roommates from his university days, Ren Huai and Weng Zishi.

Cheng Yuelin raised an eyebrow lazily and replied, “Zhao Bing went to the fashion show and the two people seem to have met. Zhao Bing called Bai Bo and her attitude was pretty bad.”

Yesterday, Qian Fan had asked when he would bring Ruan Zhiyin to meet everyone, but Cheng Yuelin had responded with, “She is going to a fashion show, maybe some other time when she’s free.”

But for now, she will not be free.

Hearing that Ruan Zhiyin had run into Zhao Bing at the fashion show, Qian Fan furrowed his brows.

Before long, he slapped his thigh and said, “Zhao Bing’s attitude was bad, right? That must have been because sister-in-law scolded her because she wanted to protect you! What did that person want when she called? Was she tattling? In her dreams!”

“Brother Lin, when you go back, you should coax sister-in-law. You can’t let sister-in-law lose out on anything because of Zhao Bing."

Qian Fan indignantly finished speaking and when he raised his head, he found Cheng Yuelin staring at himself.

This strange gaze caused his heart to tremble. Qian Fan nervously said. "Why... are you looking at me like that?"

"Nothing. I just felt that you are better than Bai Bo." Cheng Yuelin praised him before chuckling quietly and patted Qian Fan on the shoulder.

Then he got up and picked up his coat before saying. "I'm gonna head out first."

"What, already? Why are you leaving so soon? Didn't you say we'll go to the gun range later?"

Cheng Yuelin had been getting off work on time and was not coming out at night. It was not easy for Qian Fan to arrange this get together and in the end, this person is already leaving.

Qian Fan wanted to try to persuade him to stay longer.

However, Cheng Yuelin slowly adjusted his sleeves and raised his eyebrows before shaking his head and laughed. “No, I should go home. I must coax someone."

Qian Fan: "..."

This guy was much too arrogant.

After leaving the exhibition center, Ruan Zhiyin first sent Ye Yanchu home. She then headed back to the Ruan family home to meet her grandfather for a while.

Every week, she would return at least twice. She would always return when the old man was awake. As they would commute together, Cheng Yuelin would occasionally accompany her.

Grandpa Ruan quite liked this grandson-in-law and in just a short month, he had become closer to him than Qin Jue, who Grandpa Ruan had watched growing up.

Ruan Zhiyin felt it was a bit unusual, but after thinking about it, she felt that perhaps Cheng Yuelin came to visit her grandfather because he saw a shadow of his own grandfather.

But even if that was the case, Ruan Zhiyin was still grateful. She was even willing to tolerate his prickly temper.

During this time, Grandpa Ruan was sleeping more and more. Ruan Zhiyin had tried to convince him to go to the hospital multiple times, but each time Grandpa Ruan would stubbornly refuse.

After discussing with the doctor, and explained Grandpa Ruan’s current situation, the doctor said that if Grandpa Ruan felt more relaxed in a familiar environment, it would be better staying at the hospital.

So Ruan Zhiyin did not try to persuade him further.

After leaving the old home, Butler Liu sent Ruan Zhiyin to the door. He passed her a box of fresh crabs, saying that his relatives had sent this from his village.

Grandpa Ruan’s appetite was not very good and his current situation was not suitable for eating cold-natured foods like crabs. So, this box of crabs had been specially kept aside for her.

Ruan Zhiyin accepted it with a smile. “Thank you, Uncle Liu.”

“After all these years, the young miss is still so polite.”

Even though Ruan Zhiyin had only lived in the family home for three to four years, Butler Liu still cared for her a lot.

Ruan Zhiyin knew that Uncle Liu treated her well, but...

“It’s a habit. I won’t next time.”

She was used to being polite with people. Sometimes she could not help but erect a barrier to prevent others from getting close. Maybe she had stayed at the orphanage for too long and she had become afraid of becoming used to depending on others.

Butler Liu saw her pause before he smiled kindly. “When the miss goes back, help me greet my son-in-law.”

This ‘son-in-law’ naturally referred to Cheng Yuelin. After all, when Butler Liu greeted Lin Cheng, it was always Mr. Lin.

Ruan Zhiyin was stunned for a moment before she smiled in response and waved goodbye to Butler Liu.

After she returned to the car, she looked back into the rear-view mirror and shook her head.

Cheng Yuelin had only visited a few times, but Cheng Yuelin was really loved by the elders.
