My Groom Ran Away

Cheng Yuelin sat relaxed and comfortable. His face showed no expression and his gaze did not look at her, but his tall body subconsciously leaned towards her direction.

There was a vague feeling of closeness.

Addressing on behalf of the Ruan Company and Lin Heng was Xiang Bin and Director Zhong. From the government, the Planning Bureau had sent Section Chief Feng.

The two people quietly sat, and it was only at the end, that they were invited to go onto the stage to cut the ribbon.

Xiang Bin passed over the prepared scissors to Ruan Zhiyin.

The man beside her did not make a sound and a warm palm gently enveloped her hand. Then, at the host’s gesture, they cut the bright red ribbon.

The cameras from the media were all focused on this scene. From some of their angles, it appeared as though Cheng Yuelin was half holding her in his arms.

Ruan Zhiyin could see Cheng Yuelin’s dark navy tie from the corner of her eye. He had changed into it when he left home in the morning.

Now that she looked at it again, as she was wearing a flowy blue shirt, it appeared to be a perfect match.

After the ribbon cutting, Xiang Bin had arranged for someone to take the partners on a tour while discussing the resort and the designs.

Ruan Zhiyin was worried that Cheng Yuelin would have other appointments, so Ruan Zhiyin was prepared to send him off first. But Xiang Bin, who had just left with the partners, returned very quickly.

“Vice President Ruan, we talked about the location of the hotel previously. Nan Sheng wishes to change the location to be on the east side of the Rong River. How should we handle this?”

The Nan Sheng Group had several well-known hotel chains and the location of the hotel had been previously decided. There were no issues previously.

In addition, the partners had already signed the agreements of the lease and they would not be participating as investors. As a result, they would not have any right to decide on specific details of the plan.

But as Xiang Bin had just taken people on a tour, the people from Nan Sheng had suddenly proposed to change the location of the hotel. Their attitude was also very persistent, and it was rather unexpected.

Ruan Zhiyin frowned when she heard this. “Where are the people from Nan Sheng?”

“They are in the east area.”

“I will go with you to take a look.”

After speaking, Ruan Zhiyin turned and looked at the man beside her. “Then you…”

Cheng Yuelin lowered his gaze to look at her and quietly said, “Together.”

The person sent by Nan Sheng to the ribbon cutting ceremony was Director Xu of the business department and he was followed by two assistants.

When Ruan Zhiyin and the others reached the east area of the resort, Director Xu was still talking to Xiang Bin’s people about trying to change the location of the hotel.

Ruan Zhiyin paused for a moment to think before she walked up, “Director Xu, I heard Xiang Bin say that Nan Sheng wants to change the location of the hotel from the west side to the east side?”

Xu Li had just finished speaking to the assistant when he suddenly saw the arrival of the people in front of him. His face slightly froze.

He thought that Ruan Zhiyin and Xiang Bin would take the initiative to come and negotiate with him, but he did not expect that Cheng Yuelin, who was supposed to leave, would also follow them.

Cheng Yuelin had a good relationship with the boss of Nan Sheng and was also the largest investor in the Beicheng project, so Xu Li had to be a bit more courteous.

After greeting Cheng Yuelin, Xu Li looked at Ruan Zhiyin before he started his negotiation, “Vice President Ruan, I am not trying to make trouble. I have seen the design drawings. The east area appears to be superior, but there are only a few visitor service centers. Isn’t that a pity?”

Ruan Zhiyin understood what he implied. From Nan Sheng’s perspective, if the location of the hotel was changed to the east side of the Rong River, there could be 20% more hotel rooms with good views.

She smiled and said, “Director Xu, do you have time to go to the east side of the mountain to take a look?”

She did not outright reject his suggestion and had instead given him an invitation.

Director Xu did not know what to expect, but he also did not refuse.

A short while later, the group of people followed Ruan Zhiyin’s suggestion. They climbed up the mountain that was not particularly high that backed up against the park.

This was the easternmost side of the whole area. There were lush trees, and the scenery was not bad, but it had not been developed. The mountain paths were not smooth.

Although it was not a steep slope, Ruan Zhiyin was wearing a pair of shoes with a slight heel. Walking upwards was still a bit tiring. Luckily, Cheng Yuelin was by her side, silently helping her.

Before they walked up very far, Director Xu’s assistant, who was walking at the very front, suddenly slipped and kicked a piece of dirt loose. This led to a bunch of rocks tumbling down.

Ruan Zhiyin was following behind and did not have time to avoid it. In a flash, a hard stone smashed into her ankle.

A burst of pain arrived, and she was very unsteady. In her panic, she pulled at the man beside her and he frantically extended out a hand to support her.

In the next second, Cheng Yuelin supported her waist and furrowed his brow. His dark eyes looked at her ankle that was seeping with blood.

Even though it was not a serious wound, but on Ruan Zhiyin white jade-like ankle, the contrast was very stark.

She only frowned lightly before she looked at Xu Li. “Director Xu, as you can see, this mountain, even though it is not very tall, the soil is not very good. When it rains, many guests would end up stepping in mud and puddles. I think that Nan Sheng would not want something like this to affect their guests’ mood, right?”

Xu Li had already noticed Cheng Yuelin’s darkening expression and when he thought that it was his own assistant that had caused Ruan Zhiyin to get injured, his heart was suddenly filled with a few moments of guilt and unease.
