In the evening, Ruan Zhiyin was making soup in the kitchen.

After grandfather’s death, Uncle Liu and Auntie Chen politely refused Ruan Zhiyin’s offer to continue living in the old house and both decided to return to their hometowns.

After going back, the two people would often send red dates and chestnuts from their hometown. When they first returned, they had also sent some wild ginseng with a message that Ruan Zhiyin should take better care of herself. It made her smile.

She stuffed the red dates and chestnuts into the chicken, and she washed the ginseng sent by Uncle Liu. She then poured water into the pot and added a spoonful of salt before she turned the heat to low and waited for it to simmer.

Cheng Yuelin sat leisurely in the living room watching TV, he would occasionally glance into the kitchen from time to time.

A few minutes later, Ruan Zhiyin came out of the kitchen and noticed he was watching a comedy film. It was the same director as the one he had watched previously.

She poured him a glass of water and sat down before asking, “Do you like this director’s movies?”

“It’s not bad, I’ve seen some of his famous ones.”

The man smoothly took the warm water she had passed to him, and the corners of his lips rose slightly.

Ruan Zhiyin furrowed her brow slightly. “I seem to remember when we were in highschool, you did not seem to like movies like ‘Happiness in the South’.”

‘Happiness in the South’ was a movie that had received a rating of ‘pointless’ from Cheng Yuelin.

That weekend she had taken Qin Xiang to the movies and had run into Qian Fan who was all by himself. At that time, it was well known that Qian Fan and Cheng Yuelin would always be together. Since the movie was enough for him to ditch Qian Fan, he must have thought the movie was boring and was too lazy to go watch.

Hearing her words, Cheng Yuelin’s eyes wavered before he returned her gaze and lazily said, “At that point I did not like it, but I find it is not bad now.”

At that time, he had thought that she was going with Qin Jue to the movies on a date. He had dragged Qian Fan with him to the movies and had even remembered the time for the showing of the tickets she had, but in the end, he had discovered that she had gone with a little kid.

As he had been saying that going to the movies is boring, when the movie ended, he was too embarrassed to be seen leaving the theater, so he made Qian Fan leave first.

Hearing his explanation, Ruan Zhiyin did not think much about it and turned to ask. “Do you and Little Uncle know each other?”

Cheng Yuelin lightly nodded his head. “Hmm, I guess so. What is it?”

“I’m not too familiar with things relating to the government, I want to ask my Little Uncle to come back and help me. Do you think he will agree?”

Although the matters with the Lin family have been mostly resolved, Ruan Zhiyin was busy with the Beicheng project and there were too many things for her to keep track of. She knew that before her father had passed away, Ji Yijun had worked at the Ruan Company. He only did some private investing now, so he could be considered to have a good amount of free time. So she thought he might want to come back and help out.

“You want me to help you out with it?” Cheng Yuelin glanced at her out of the corner of his eyes.

Ruan Zhiyin nodded and added, “I stewed ginseng chicken soup.”

She knew that he enjoyed drinking soup and since she wanted his help, she had to prepare a suitable bribe.

Cheng Yuelin helplessly shook his head. She really thought he was actually a foodie.

“Since Grandpa is no longer here and he is free, if you suggest it, it would be unlikely for him to refuse. His only misgivings would be that you might overthink.”

To be precise, Ji Yijun was a trustworthy person, otherwise he would not have driven Yang Xue and the others out of Lanqiao in the past.

If she could reduce her reluctance to ask for help, he would not have to constantly remind her.

Smelling the tantalizing aroma from the kitchen, Cheng Yuelin smiled and looked at her. “The soup smells good, I can also bring it to the office.”

After speaking, he glanced at her and added, “I’ve asked Bai Bo to install a microwave in the office.”

In other words, if she’s worried he would starve, she could always bring him some soup in the future.

After finishing speaking, Cheng Yuelin looked at Ruan Zhiyin who suddenly had a slight apprehensive look on her face, and he froze for a moment. Pausing, he put down the arm that was carelessly slung across the back of the couch and asked. “What is it?”

“Tomorrow, … are you free?” she tentatively asked.

Cheng Yuelin did not answer and only asked. “Is there something?”

Ruan Zhiyin shook her head lightly and spoke, “It is nothing, if you’re busy, you do not need to come pick me up tomorrow.”

Cheng Yuelin saw her avoiding the question and looked straight at her with probing eyes. His thin lips opened and closed. “Are you going shopping with someone?”

“No.” After speaking Ruan Zhiyin noticed that he was going to keep asking, so she looked down and lowered her voice. “It is for… grave sweeping.”

Tomorrow is the anniversary of her parents’ death.
