My Handful Lord's Lover

Chapter 11 - Live for me (2)

"Then, who beats who?"

Shey didn't seem to be fl.u.s.tered by the questions as he answered calmly.

He carefully explained the cycle of the elements.

The fire can be defeated using both water and wind element.

Water on the other hand, can be defeated by wind.

While wind can be defeated by earth element.

Earth can then be defeated by the fire element.

As for the space, as it is known to not have any offense properties, it is used in defense even as storage and can only be intercepted by either a space, light or dark element user.

Light and dark elements follow different rules and they are quite rare. They go against each other.

Shey seemed to end the explanation but then added something.

"But if you have the same element, various things can affect the outcome. The proficiency, affinity or talent, prowess, control and even the personality and constitution of body can highly affect a battle outcome."

With that detailed explanation, Eve was deeply thinking. She then took out the card she got from the baptismal.

"I noticed something, why is my card white? I noticed the other kids from that time had other colors."

"That is associated with your affinity to things. If you're red, that's fire. Blue is for water, green for wind, orange for earth, and indigo for space. On the other hand, yellow for light and violet for dark."

Eve then repeated her question, on why her card is white.

"It was known to be the absence of color. So that means, no affinity or as they call it, a trash."

With this, Eve was shocked to know of this information. But before she can refute, Shey added something.

"But for us, we believe the white is a blank canvas where one can paint their own life and decide by themselves. And yet because of this, were scrutinized."

A smile was then evident on Eve's face. Then she looked at Shey with a proud face.

"In our world, white is actually said to be what you can get by mixing all the colors of the rainbow. That's why, I don't think you're wrong."

Before anything else was said, the door opened and there stood Gideon with a satisfied look on his face. Immediately changing into a serious face, Gideon coughed and spoke in a serious voice.

"It's time for your lessons in tactics with me. Let's go."

Eve stood up and waved Shey goodbye. Although she was a tad bit disappointed as she wanted to ask another thing.

A white envelope appeared in front of Eve which made her stop. It was in Gideon's hand which is now pointing towards her, which suggests that she take it.

"You should read this."

She took it and opened it. It was just the first line but tears already dropped from her eyes.

'My dear Eve, I apologize if I caused you some grief. Father had some things to take care of.

Your mother was also needed for that. That's why, if you got this letter, then you must have met him.

Trust Gid, he'll protect you and take care of you. If he did not, he will taste father's wrath.

You must be thinking, Emilia was your mother but I mentioned that your mother is needed.

She knows the truth, she is your aunt.

I heard she was getting married into the Burress family, that's actually good.

They can hide the fact of your eyes. As you might be wondering, your eyes are of the Burress and yet you're not a part of them.

It is sad to say that I cannot tell you anymore. Ask your aunt and she will know. Trust her Eve, she is on your side.

Take care of yourself and your siblings. After reading this, Gideon will know what to do.

Ask him anything, he'll say everything. I'm sorry if I had to leave you alone, I only have one thing to tell you.

No matter what happens, don't avenge us. Instead of doing that, live for me, for you, and for all of us. I love you my little Eve, my lovely daughter. -Lance'

Tears were now flowing quickly down Eve's cheeks. Gideon just hugged her and gave her a pat on the back.

After a while, Eve calmed down and they went to Gideon's office.

"I know you have a lot of questions. You can ask away. I'll answer everything."

Eve was just staring at nothing and this made Gideon sigh.

"Maybe I shouldn't have given you that letter so early."

"No, I'm thankful for it." Eve finally spoke and her eyes that were staring into nothing finally came back to life with a burning determination.

"Good to have you back, now you can ask as much as you want and as much as you can."

"I'm expecting explanations to my questions, Gideon... no, who are you and what should I call you?" Eve questioned Gideon's identity and this made him laugh with glee. He looked at her with a warm smile and answered.

"I am..."
