“Are you alright, Miss Silver Lily?” Dovea asked with a worried expression as I returned to my bedroom, leaving Lady Melliot behind.

I gently smiled as Dovea’s deep reddish-brown eyes met mine, and I placed my hand on her shoulder.

“Was Lady Melliot always such a scary person?”

“Ah… well, the Melliot Viscounty’s power has been pretty high these days…”

“That’s what I’m saying.”

The Melliot Viscounty were nobles I definitely had no memory of in the past.

They must have been obscure nobles from the border who suddenly seemed to be rising in status over the previous three years.

Even from the memories of “Maid Serienne,” the Melliot Viscounty had suddenly appeared as a growing power.

“Pardon?”

When I accidentally voiced my thoughts, Dovea tilted her head in confusion.

“Dovea. Do you know what line of nobility the Melliot Viscounty were following before?”

“Hm, I’m not sure. I only know about my own family and not much about other families. I’m sorry.”

“No, it’s fine; it can happen. You said you’re from the Eastern Hamolly family, right?”

“Yes. You… remembered,” said Dovea, before smiling slightly and looking away.

Since she seemed to be feeling embarrassed for some reason, I ruffled Dovea’s hair before smiling.

“But you’re still a daughter of a respectable barony. Not to mention, you’re the first class head maid of the Queen, who is receiving the Emperor’s favor right now. If you go around getting hit, I’ll be sad.”

“But… it might make things more difficult for you, Miss Silver Lily.”

“Dovea, there’s no need for you to worry about such things.”

Dovea’s eyes widened at my tone, which showed it was no big deal.

She was being like this because she didn’t actually know my Hadel yet.

“I’m the Queen who receives the favor of the Empress. His Majesty will protect me.”

“…His Majesty will?”

She must not have believed in my confident words, or perhaps it was because Hadel’s normal image was so bad. She frowned, which led me to ask in confusion, “Wasn’t it because you believed in His Majesty that you came to help me in the Lily Palace as the Head Maid?”

“That’s true, but… do you trust His Majesty, Miss Silver Lily?”

At her strange question, I paused for a moment.

A question asking whether I trusted Hadel.

I didn’t even have to consider what kind of meaning it held.

After all, there was only one answer to it.

It was the same before, it was the same now, and it would be the same in the future.

And when I opened my mouth to speak, a voice rang through the air. “Miss Silver Lily, His Majesty has arrived.”

The bedroom door opened along with the sound of a maid welcoming him in gently.

And with it, Hadel popped in so adorably.

I had only just sent him to work, but he had come back so soon.

“Oh, my Silver Lily! My beautiful love, my other half! Shasha!”

Oh my, what the? What happened to him in the time since?

* * *

“Shasha, eat this too.”

“Shasha, this too!”

“This is quite refreshing, right, Shasha?”

“Shasha? What’s with your expression? Are you in a bad mood?”

My mood could be summarized in one expression: I was going crazy.

Crazy from embarrassment.

Seeing me with my head bent and trembling, Hadel whispered once more.

“Oh, my Shasha. Are you hurt somewhere?”

His voice, which was so greasy it felt like it was dripping with butter, made me feel irritated.

“Shasha! Let me know what the problem is!”

The problem is you!

Unable to speak my true thoughts while all the maids and attendants were watching, I forced my lips into a smile.

“Y-Your Majesty. My name is not Shasha, but Serienne…”

The name Shasha, which he had begun calling as soon as he arrived at Lily Palace. And that greasy gaze and tone of voice.

It was clear he had made up his mind to act like this on purpose, but it was a bit excessive. No, not just a bit; it was very excessive!

Although seeing my husband act all extra like this was cute, the embarrassment was all mine to bear.

“Hahaha! Seeing you embarrassed is lovely too!”

Ughhh. What should I do? I could feel the maids’ sharp gazes toward me. Not to mention, the attendants were watching with their jaws dropped.

“Y-Your Majesty. By, Shasha, just what…”

“Hm, why? Do you dislike it? I thought it was cute, so I decided to use it as a nickname…”

Ah, he looked glum. Although he took great pains to hide that expression, I alone could tell.

His slightly lowered shoulders and gaze were aimed downward.

He had definitely gotten glum because I hadn’t shown a positive reaction.

“No, it is not that, but…”

What should I do?

Honestly, it wasn’t a nickname that I particularly liked, but there was probably a reason why Hadel was suddenly acting this way, so I decided to let it go.

“Then, as it is the nickname Your Majesty has bestowed upon me, I will happily receive it.”

After saying that, I gently placed a hand on Hadel’s.

And at that moment, it suddenly felt like the air of the bedroom had frozen, as silence fell.

“Hic!”

The Grand Chamberlain’s hiccup followed.

I wanted to turn my head to the maids and attendants to see what was going on, but Hadel grabbed my hand and pulled me to him.

“Y-Your Majesty?”

“Ah, how can everything you do be so adorable, Shasha?”

I was briefly curious about what was happening, but that quickly passed as I inhaled deeply, my face now buried in Hadel’s chest.

Hadel’s gentle scent, which tickled my nose, made nothing matter.

I couldn’t help but embrace Hadel back when I smelled him because it brought a sense of calm to both my body and mind.

Hadel quietly whispered into my ear, “Asha’s scent. It’s so good.”

Hearing him properly call my name this time made me realize his intentions.

He couldn’t call me my actual name, Asha, while everyone else was listening, but clearly, he didn’t want to call me by my fake name, Serienne, either.

Choosing a nickname, “Shasha,” with a similar pronunciation, ensured that no one would think it was strange if he secretly mixed in “Asha.”

Unable to withstand his cuteness after having found out his thoughts, I patted his hair and laughed.

The feeling of his soft black hair in between my fingers was quite nice.

“Hic!”

If there was something wrong with this, it was the Grand Chamberlain’s hiccups that had started earlier and had worsened.

“Derrell.”

Hadel, too, must have been bothered by it, because he addressed the Grand Chamberlain in hushed tones.

“Y-Yes, Your Majesty!”

“Leave.”

“P-Pardon? Hic!”

Was he normally just a slow person?

Hadel let out a light sigh before waving him away with his hand.

“Everyone get out of here.”

“Y-Your Majesty!”

“Is there a problem? I want to be alone with the Silver Lily.”

Ah, I liked that as well.

We used to have a lot of alone time in the past, but nowadays there were so many eyes on us that it was uncomfortable.

And I had to talk to him about what I’d discussed with Duke Valkirino.

“All of the maids in the Lily Palace, exit the palace.”

Watching the attendants leave, Hadel urged the maids to leave as well.

Soon after the eyes that had been surveilling us disappeared, Hadel buried his face into my shoulder.

“Asha.”

“Yeah.”

“Hehe. This is nice.”

I enjoyed the feeling of him burrowing himself into my arms and hugged him even tighter. Even the sound of his low laughter caused my heart to pound and all five of my senses to heighten.

“Hadel. Even still, what is Sasha? It sounds like a cat’s name.”

“That’s why it’s cuter.”

“Gosh, I cannot with you. And what’s with that greasy tone of voice?”

My eyes met with Hadel’s, who had a smile on his face.

His reddish-pink eyes held only me in them.

“Was it that greasy? I did go a little overboard trying to show everyone how much I care for and love you…”

Hadel trailed off, hesitating.

“But they were still all truthful. Was it that bad?”

His eyelashes and eyes drooped, and the tips of his lips dropped.

Ah, gosh.

This is why I couldn’t hold back.

“Asha?”

As I stared into his eyes without a word, Hadel called my name in confusion.

Even that was adorable to me; I grabbed Hadel’s two cheeks and pulled. With a chu sound, my lips met and left, leaving a soft feeling.

He must have been surprised by the sudden kiss, for Hadel started blinking quickly.

Hm. I should leave it at that and get back to the important stuff. I should quickly tell him what I’d talked about with the duke and start moving quickly.

“Hadel, I have something to say.”

But after that, I could no longer move my lips.

I could feel his warm breath and lips once more.

“Wait, no. Hadel. I have an important-”

“Yeah, but I think this is more important right now.”

“Wait, I actually have something important to say.”

“There’s nothing more important than you right now.”

“Wait…!”

Gosh. Why was he being like this, really?

“Just a bit, Asha. I wanted to see you so bad.”

“What? We saw each other yesterday, and just a few moments ago.”

Hadel put his arms around me and smiled prettily.

“Shouldn’t I see you enough to make up for how much I couldn’t see you until now?”

“But.”

That was that, but this was another matter altogether. We had to quickly discuss and set our plans for the future.

Because I kept pushing him away, he dealt a killing blow.

“You started it.”

“That!”

“It’s not enough.”

“In a bit, okay?”

“I love you, Asha.”

His eyes crinkled beautifully as he smiled, to which I surrendered.

“Gosh… I give up.”

Whatever. It was good now, so that was enough.

I put my arms around Hadel’s neck as well, when the words of Lady Melliot of the Melliot Viscounty came to mind.

“Hadel.”

I trusted Hadel, but that didn’t change the fact that this was unpleasant.

Hadel must have read my suddenly chilly mood, for he blinked in confusion.

“A woman that goes by the name of Lepea Melliot. She came by looking for me earlier.”
