34 – Gate Exploration (1)

The academy’s morning sunlight was drowsy.

My head was complicated because there were so many things to worry about, and I was tired because I was forced to wake up.

It’s a shame that I asked my older brother, who is in charge of the dormitory housekeeper, otherwise I wouldn’t have been able to get up under the futon.

A place where the members decided to gather together.

Professor Meline was already at the main gate of the academy.

“Hello professor.”

I approached Professor Melaine and greeted her lightly, and she nodded.

“hmm.”

No other people were seen yet, and two large wagons were waiting in front of the main gate.

The cost of renting one wagon is beyond imagination, but if you rent two…

It was found that the academy was actively supporting the party.

“Are the professor and I the only ones here yet?”

“It came a little earlier than expected.”

Professor Melaine looked quietly in the direction of the carriage, then turned her gaze to me.

“I thought it would be late… You managed to wake up early.”

“Huh. The dormitory head hyung woke me up to death.”

I have several insurance policies in place in case I can’t wake up.

I placed a magic tool in the bed that gives an alarm at a certain time, and asked the supervisor to wake me up several times to see if even that would work.

I was desperate as I wanted to refrain from being late at a gathering of representative professors from each department.

While waiting for the professors who hadn’t arrived yet, I threw a series of questions to Professor Melaine.

“Professor, do you have experience exploring dungeons within special gates?”

“hmm. About a few times during my research days.”

It was only a year or two ago when Professor Melaine was a researcher.

I had been more embarrassed than asking her age before, but now I knew Professor Melaine’s age.

She was a genius at the Imperial Academy’s Faculty of Alchemy, graduating from the academy early in three years, graduating from the research institute in two years, and winning a professorship at the unbelievable age of 25.

Actually, I was surprised when I first heard of Professor Meline’s age.

At the end of every word, she uses a tone like ‘um’ or ‘allow’, but who would think she was 25?

Even though I looked quite young on the outside, I also thought that I was just a professor in my late 20s with extreme youth.

However, authentication was completed when she showed her imperial-approved ID.

19 years old, 6 years older than me who just came of age this year, and only 3 years older than my older sister Karin.

Professor Melaine was selected as a hero at the age of 20, so if he had become a hero at the age of 18 as a general case, he would have gained a reputation comparable to that of Ariel Tirfe at a young age.

I feel it again, but it wasn’t for nothing that I won the title of youngest professor in the alchemy department.

“Alchemy Faculty goes to dungeons too.”

“I don’t go to dungeons that are extremely dangerous or require excessive combat power. However, in the case of dungeons required for research or dungeons that require practical exploration for writing a thesis, I go directly to exploration.”

I was puzzled by the words and asked.

“Does the alchemist go to the dungeon and do anything else? If you’re not a combat alchemist, you won’t be of much help.”

“You don’t need to argue, but if you want to create something to do, you can.”

“To make?”

“hmm. You can prepare basic materials and temporarily produce magic tools suitable for the situation, and since alchemists are sensitive to the response of magic circuits, you can find hidden magic traps by tracking circuits throughout the dungeon. Of course, this cannot be seen as essential for the clergy and rangers of the special department to excel.”

Literally, it means that you have to look for it.

In fact, the story is almost useless.

It wasn’t for nothing that alchemists were in charge of supplies in the cove during wartime.

However, this case is slightly different.

Since there are so many variables in the first gate, Professor Bluecliffe probably selected professors from each faculty to block all variables.

This was the reason why I was selected as Professor Python of the Department of Special Studies, Professor Meline of the Department of Alchemy, and assistant.

“He is coming.”

At Professor Melaine’s short words, I turned my head and looked at the place where the people were.

Maybe it’s because the time is up, or I ran into them on the way.

The remaining four professors were walking along.

It was the moment when the first party to explore the dark red gate finally gathered.

* * *

It is standard for a wagon divided into two cars to ride with three people each, but for some reason, there were as many as four people in the carriage I was riding, including myself.

First, me and Professor Melaine.

We belonged to the same Faculty of Alchemy and formally became teachers and students, and since we were most comfortable with each other, it was only natural that we rode together.

Next is Professor Bluecliffe.

He is also somewhat familiar with me.

He’s also the father of Delia, a close friend of mine, and I’ve taken his lectures before, and most of all, I really like talking to him about magic circuits.

I’ve understood it so far.

but one last one.

Dean of the Faculty of Swordsmanship, Jake Darunstud.

Ludgale A hero who helped Liquid and played a big role in the last demon war.

A master of swords that no one in the Empire can follow except Ludgale in terms of swordsmanship.

Such a great person declared that he would ride in the same wagon as me, and our wagon became full of four people.

And the main character was looking at me with a burdensome gaze.

The Dean of Dararnstud spoke to me with his chin resting on his chin.

“Sacher Philip.”

“… Yes, head of department.”

“I have a few questions for you.”

“Yes, you can.”

Professor Darrenstud asked me with black eyes shining.

“Why did you go to the Faculty of Alchemy?”

At those words, I felt the brow of Professor Melaine, who was sitting next to me, frown.

It was natural.

As for her, she is a professor who takes pride in her mathematics and her talent, but a professor with a slightly higher rank makes a statement that seems to ignore it.

Dean Darrenstud shook his hand lightly, probably feeling the strange air current.

“Ah, it doesn’t mean anything else, so don’t get me wrong. Just pure curiosity. It was just unusual that you, who had the talent for swordsmanship, chose alchemy over swordsmanship. Besides, aren’t you the scion of a family of knights called the two major mountain ranges of the empire?”

I have a talent for swordsmanship.

In fact, this was another topic that became a hot topic after <Academy Coliseum> ended.

As a descendant of the Philip family of knights, it is only natural that I know how to use a sword.

My eldest daughter, Karin Phillip, is also called the Empire’s best swordsmanship prospect, and I’ve been trained by my family since I was a child.

But the battle against Zenit Polgram that I showed in the Colosseum final.

Swordsmanship that was not pushed at all by him, but rather showed equal skills.

Lastly, even the ‘magic sword’, which turns out to be almost impossible without the heroic talent of swordsmanship.

As long as I fought Zenit while unleashing the [Sword of Speed], it was as if my talent for swordsmanship had already been exposed.

-A genius with multiple talents appeared.

-Alchemy and swordsmanship, all top-notch undergraduates!

– Family blood cannot be faked. The possibility of Sacher Philip’s family succession has risen once again.

Articles like this keep pouring in.

The revenge talent isn’t incredibly rare, but there’s no history of pushing both talents to their extremes.

The fusion of the two talents I showed in the Coliseum finals was nothing short of astounding to everyone who watched it.

The Dean of Darunstud was asking about him.

If both talents have genius, why did they leave mainstream studies and go to the non-mainstream alchemy department?

I carefully opened my mouth, looking at Professor Meline’s eyes.

“I have been interested in alchemy since I was a child.”

“Ever since I was little?”

Dean Darrenstud’s eyebrows twitched.

“yes. Although he was born into a family of knights, he was interested in manipulating magic and the organic response of magic circuits spread out in nature. So while learning swordsmanship from my family, I studied alchemy on my own.”

“hmm. Is that why the production is so fast compared to the grade?”

Dean Darrenstud didn’t fully agree, but he nodded his head with a face that showed some understanding.

“yes. And even in my own opinion, it seems that the alchemy talent is a little more weighted than the swordsmanship talent. Apparently, my sister’s talent for swordsmanship is incomparably better than mine.”

The existence of her older sister, Karin, was nothing short of a strong shield.

No matter how good my swordsmanship talent is, I can’t compare to Karin’s past, who showed overwhelming talent.

When someone asked, “Why don’t you use a sword?”, and I replied, “Because my older sister uses it better,” there was no one who wouldn’t agree.

Moreover, the head of the department, Darren Stud, was the one who raised such a Karin himself just a year ago.

The last answer to him would have helped him understand.

“If it’s Karin, it’s worth it.”

After that, my conversation with him ended.

Dean Darrenstud quickly lost interest and turned his head out the window.

Why are you in the Faculty of Alchemy with that talent?

Transfer to the swordsmanship department immediately.

I thought I would talk about these things, but since my curiosity was answered, I didn’t ask anything else.

Insisting on riding in the same wagon just to ask this… .

In some ways, he seemed to be clogged up, but in other ways, he had a cool personality.

Professor Melaine, who was initially displeased with the words of the head of Darustud, nodded and looked away.

Suddenly, I felt someone staring at me.

At that gaze, I turned my head without realizing it.

… It was Professor Bluecliffe.

He was looking at me as if he had made some surprising discovery.

It’s as if I hadn’t thought of this until now.

Professor Bluecliffe asked me subtly, looking expectantly.

“you. Do you have the warrior talent of battle magic?”

ah.

damn… .

Involuntarily, curses burst out inside me.

It was the start of the second round.
