My Naughty Fake Bride

83 All Her Faul

Han Mei shook her head. No, she wasn't calling Han Jie. Han Jie would begin to worry about overtaxing her despite not knowing how she was really doing.

She also needed to tell Han Jie the entire reason why she needed to go. When that happens, Han Jie would surely cry first then hunt down her child's father.

Han Jie chuckled at that. She could imagine her sister learning witchcraft eventually if she could not deal with the guy at all.

She touched the empty plate before realizing she had finished the crackers at the bedside table. Han Mei smiled wryly and picked up the bottle of water beside the plate. Actually, she had not realized she had been eating until she was done.

'Is this how Han Jie feels?' Han Mei wondered in surprise as she rubbed her belly.

"Please stop making mummy eat so much." Han Mei told her stomach with a small smile. She then picked up her phone and started listening to her sister's voice mail.

The voicemails meant that Han Jie was alright. She could still remember how her sister looked so shocked when she saw her in the hotel mall.

As soon as she left the store that time, she immediately runs back to their grandma's place, scared that her father would find her.

She continued to listen to the voicemail. Some were making her giggle while the others make her upset. Han Jie had left multiple voicemails. One of the recent one said that there was an engagement party and she was going to help her.

What does that mean?

It only means that Han Jie was pretending to be her all this time.

She could not help but smile bitterly. It was not unusual for them to do it because it was a game that they played a lot as kids. Then occasionally, during high school, then barely in college. If their wants and figure were still almost identical, Han Mei could bet that they will continue to do so still in the future.

It was really unexpected. Han Jie must have left her this message before, but it was one of those that she needed to delete.

Han Mei released a heavy worried sigh before she looked around the room and saw her laptop.

Maybe she could find out what was going on via the internet. Han Mei knew her sister was an extremely private person, but she wouldn't put it past her father that Han Jie was pretending to be her right now.

Han Mei sighed, deeply disappointed in herself for doing that to her sister if her father had thought of that. She knew Han Jie would hate all the attention and press members following her about.

She had told herself she wasn't selfish as she got up to get the laptop, and decided to blame Han Jun as the selfish person who probably put the lousy idea in her father's head.

All Han Mei could remember was that his last name was Suzuki. She had never even seen him.

Han Mei blushed deeply in embarrassment for forgetting her supposedly fiance's name and never even researching him. She does remember that he was from the Suzuki Family in Country J.

The Suzuki family was a very traditional family that her father wanted them to visit a lot before. She could remember her father telling her all the rules in that family when she was still young.

Her father was so strict about it that time, like they were going to a royalty's house, it made her so scared. Add to the fact that she was always scared of planes, and she remembered switching places with Han Jie, who has no problem with it since she loved adventure. Her sister still does.

It was a very long time ago. So many years had passed.

Now, she was engaged to a member of the Suzuki Family.

What type of fiance would she have been?

'The fiance who was in love with someone else and pregnant to a man who lied to you about everything,' A small bitter voice said inside her head.

Han Mei shook her head vehemently. She hadn't been in love with him. She might have believed that while she was drunk and in need of an escape. But not now with a clear mind in the harsh light of day.

Han Mei clicked on a search engine application on her laptop when it had finally booted up and began to type her fiance's name. Han Mei had not finished typing his name when a suggestion was made.

Suzuki Kyou.

Han Mei smiled, feeling silly. How could she have forgotten such a strong name?

The search results made Han Mei feel dizzy. Suzuki Kyou was still engaged to her? Han Jie did not try to talk to him and tell him that she was missing?

Han Mei lost the color on her face.

She realized she was selfish, but she hadn't realized the cost of selfishness to Han Jie. It had cost her twin her freedom.

Han Mei wiped the tears from her eyes. 'How could I have been so selfish?' She thought sadly, her lips trembling.

The engagement got finalized so fast? Why?

She knew Han Jun and her father would have come up with a way to excuse her absence. She knew they couldn't do it forever. Were they both that desperate for a deal with the Suzuki family?

But she hadn't expected them to offer her sister off in her place until this point.

Han Mei scowled at the screen as she continued to read other articles before something else caught her eyes. She sat back against the headboard with an audible thunk.

She was looking at her fiancé with a complicated expression. Han Mei realized something. At the right angle, Suzuki Kyou looked just like master Shu.

Han Mei frowned.

Master Shu was the reason Han Feng and Han Jie didn't really get along. One day she was a normal girl pretending to be her sister at a convention the next week, Han Jie was a changed person, constantly drawing Yaoi manga based on the character Master Shu.

Han Mei never told her father that she had read her sister's works. She never told her sister too.

She and Han Jun read the books but had made a tentative agreement never to speak about it, and they didn't. He was cooperative at that time.

Han Mei wondered if there was anything at all she could do to help her sister as she studied the picture from the engagement party. Her sister looked… for the lack of a better word, different.

Han Jie did not dye her hair, and she was wearing a white long dress that even Han Mei could not easily pull off as well. These were the type of clothes that Han Jie wouldn't be caught dead in unless she was pretending to be someone else. Someone else, being Han Mei.

She continued to read other articles and found one particularly disturbing. The author had insisted and urged people to believe that 'Han Mei' was a monster, and she thought her fiancé was gay.

The article had torn 'Han Mei' into shreds.

Han Mei moved her computer to the other side of her on the bed, drew her knees up and whimpered into them. She knew she was probably overreacting and very emotional because of the pregnancy. But she could not help it.

On the bright side, since he looked like Master Shu, Han Jie must be enjoying herself at least.

But she still couldn't get over the fact that her sister had looked so lost and alone without her in the picture. And it was all her fault!

Han Mei knew it was time to do something about it. She got up from the bed and walked to her closet. It wasn't as extensive as the one back home, but Han Mei had to work with it regardless.

She was glad she had thought to bring some fashionable clothing during her disappearance. It would have been awful to show up Suzuki Kyou's place in sweat pants and a baggy shirt.

Han Mei picked out her clothes carefully to match what she had seen Han Jie wear at the boutique in town. She wished she had more black in her clothes—something to make her look like she was in mourning. But the mint green wrap around dress would have to do.

Han Mei picked out her shoes before changing to get to the shower. 'You are going to do the right thing and set your sister free. Even if you have to beg.' Han Mei thought silently.
