"Thank you." Han Mei said as she reached out to collect the offensive glove from the man's outstretched hand.

He smiled as she said, "You are most welcome," The man was still holding tightly to the glove for a while, despite Han Mei trying already pulling it. Before she asked what he was doing, he already let go of it.

Han Mei refused to read into the smile, so she gave a small bland smile of her own and excused herself.

"Are you going to get a taxi?" The man asked, taking a step closer to Han Mei, crowding her too close to the street.

She nodded, "It should be here any minute, and you don't have to stay with me," Han Mei said quietly with a small strained smile.

"Or I could give you a ride," the man suggested, still smiling. For Han Mei, he was more like stating a fact.

"Oh. But don't you have to work? Er… I'm sorry I don't know your name," Han Mei said, finally cracking. She was mostly just glad her voice wasn't shaking in fear.

"It's Xia Wei. Nice to meet you." He said as he pulled her away from the brink of the sidewalk.

Han Mei suddenly stiffened because of his action and closeness. "Thanks Mister Xia," She began to say to Xia Wei. She was sure he had lied about his name for some reason.

"You can call me by my name. Please drop the mister part. It really makes me feel old." He said with a smile. "No need to thank me, my car is at the side of the building." Xia Wei added as he kept his almost too tight hold on her hand and began to pull her towards his car.

"Oy, no, that's not what I meant." Han Mei said, panicking as she looked around in hopes of finding a savior.

The man turned her and held on to her other arm, making her look directly at him.

"I have a car, what's the hold-up?" Xia Wei asked in confusion. His expression has a hint of impatience.

"It's just not right." Han Mei said with a determined shake of the head. "I'm an almost married woman driving around town with an unknown man that I hardly know." She said as she tried to pull her arms away from his tight grasp.

Xia Wei let her go suddenly, making her stumble back a step before she caught herself. He then shoved his hands in his pockets and stared at Han Mei.

He then nodded, "You are right. I really wish I could say that all I want to do is give you a lift. But it's not. I do have an ulterior motive." Xia Wei began as he stared solemnly at her.

'Ah, ha! This guy is not decent at all!' Han Mei thought as she pressed her lips together for fear that she would say what she was thinking.

So his ulterior motive wasn't so bad, but she still wasn't sure she could trust him.

Han Mei blurted out the address of the place that she owned with Han Jie, before she could stop them. 'Isn't it better to just give the hotel address where Han Jie is currently at?'

"Huh?" Xia Wei asked, looking confused.

"My address. It seems like I still need a lift." Han Mei said with an uncomfortable smile. She had decided to be dropped off just around the apartment she owns with Han Jie, but not there exactly.

"Oh, alright, cool." Xia Wei said as he pressed his key fob. A small black car flashed a little away from them. "Your chariot awaits," he said with a flourish.

Han Mei wasn't sure if she was doing the right thing still. She stood beside the car and looked at him. Xia Wei paused and stared at her.

"Can I have your ID?" Han Mei asked, not getting into the car.

He stared at her in confusion and frowned a bit. "Er, sure. But why?" Xia Wei asked, staring at her suspiciously.

Han Mei laughed at the suspicious look. "So I can text it to my friend, duh. Girls go missing all the time now." Han Mei said, smiling at Xia Wei.

"Okay, sure. Let's get comfortable in the car first, right?" Guy said as he opened his car door and waited for Han Mei to enter through her side.

They got and fastened their seat belts before Xia Wei gave Han Mei his work ID.

Han Mei took a picture of it and saved a draft message to her sister. She didn't send it because she was worried about scaring her sister.

The drive to her place was relatively quiet. They hardly keep each other, and they didn't seem to have anything in common.

He parked his car at the curb in front of a building not far from their apartment, startling Han Mei from her thoughts.

"Thank you." Han Mei said before smiling at Xia Wei.

"You're welcome," He said forlornly, looking as sad as his voice.

Han Mei felt sorry for him.

"Do you want to talk for a little bit? There is a good coffee somewhere around this block. You can tell me what you want from Suzuki Kyou, see if I can help." Han Mei said in a rush and cursing herself for spending more time with him.

Xia Wei brightened, and a large smile suddenly appeared on his face. "Sure, let's go." He said as he jumped out of the car.

Han Mei bit her lip in regret. She really shouldn't have to spend more time with this man.

They walked into the cafe, Xia Wei was close behind her. Way too close for comfort.

When they arrived, Han Mei was supposed to lead him into one of the tables.

"Wait, I forgot something in the car. Stay here, I will just go back quickly," He said before quickly turning around.

Han Mei's eyes brightened. This was the opportunity that she waited to get away from him.

Immediately, she turned and went to the side of the building, using it as an alternative route to get to their apartment building. Han Mei felt relieved when she was in front of it.

She had decided to stay there for the meantime as she mustered the courage to talk to her father.

Han Jie was already fishing out the keys from her bag, but suddenly she noticed a man running towards her. It was Xia Wei.

"Miss Han! Is everything alright? I only returned for my wallet as I can't make a pretty lady like you pay. But you already left." He accusingly said. Xia Wei looked like he was sporting a grievance.

She chuckled nervously. While looking at him like this, Han Mei was distracted and failed to really consider that the man was weird enough to even chase after her.

"I wanted to get something, then I will go back to the café," She said before continuing, "You run so fast, and I was not able to tell you."

"Oh, that's why! I thought you ditch me." He said with a bright smile, "Sorry, I am not used to not having money with me." Xia Wei added, before his gaze looked in front of the apartment.

"Do you want to stay here? I will be just getting something shortly," She said, trying to be polite.

Xia Wei looked at her with an embarrassed smile, "Can I get in and sit? I did run, quite fast, and somehow tired."

Han Mei nodded since she could still see the beads of sweat on his forehead running down his face.

She opened the apartment door and let him in. The apartment has a hired cleaner that visits every other two weeks. Because of this, Han Mei knew that the place is presentable.

However, she still doesn't feel right having this guy along.

"So, what would you like to have?" Han Mei said, giving him her best hostess smile when they get in.

"You," Xia Wei said, making her smile falter on her face.
