My Naughty Fake Bride

99 Not A Friend

She placed her hand on the railing and looked back, considering going down the few steps to the door on the next floor or going back up through those many, many stairs to get back to her floor.

Han Jie didn't get the chance to decide when she felt a heavy shove on her arm that almost caused her to let go of the railing and fall. Han Jie held on tighter and turned to look at Wang Jin.

What does she think she's doing? Han Jie thought, her heart beating fast with fear. Wang Jin's face had turned an ugly, splotchy red, and the other woman was breathing hard.

"Oy! What was that for?" Han Jie yelled at Wang Jin, not releasing her death grip on the railing.

"He's mine!" Wang Jin yelled back and tried to push Han Jie again.

Han Jie let go of the railing and shifted right on time away. Wang Jin had used a whole lot more force than the first push.

Having nothing to push on, Wang Jin tipped forward, falling fast. Wang Jin rolled a couple of stairs down. Han Jie thought she might have banged her head on the way down because she lay still at the bottom of the stairs right in front of the door.

The door opened, and Jonah came in. Jonah had heard yelling from his point but had not entered. His orders had been clear. Don't interfere. So he hadn't. But he had called Han Jun the minute the yelling began.

Jonah squatted down in front of Wang Jin but didn't touch or move her. She was still breathing, he observed. 'Should we call for an ambulance now?' He thought to himself as he fished out his phone and called for an emergency.

Han Jie sat down shakily, and her breathing was erratic. 'OMG! Did I just became a criminal?' She thought worriedly. She was also justifying the fact that she was only defending herself and

"Is she dead?" Han Jie asked shakily, not really looking at Jonah.

"No," Jonah said soothingly and sat beside her.

Han Jie leaned on the wall and stared at Wang Jin.

"Is she going to be alright?" Han Jie asked after a while.

Jonah nodded, "I called an ambulance, also Doctor Bai."

The door above them opened, and Bai Min and Han Jun came in. Han Jie breathed out a sigh of relief. They were safe now. Bai Min is a doctor, and he will make sure Wang Jin is alive.

'Darn it! How did the plan to make Wang Jin help me look for Suzuki Kyou turn out to be like this?' Han Jie felt like crying. She was also dizzy with all the worry.

"Should I lift her?" Han Jun asked disgustedly, staring at Wang Jin like she was vermin. He really didn't want to pick her up, but he doubted the wisdom in leaving her here.

"Check on Han Jie first." Han Jun said as he was stiffly nodding at Bai Min.

Bai Min rolled his eyes and ignored Han Jun's attempt at commanding him.

"She might have internal bleedings, and the bump on her head may just be a bump or brain injury. The longer it stays untreated…" Bai Min trailed off, not wanting to say what he was thinking.

Han Jun stared at Bai Min. Bai Min held his ground.

Jonah nodded, "That is really possible. Young Master Jun."

"Fine. Someone would be here to pick her up." Han Jun said as he brought out his smartphone and sent a text to someone.

"Where would she be going?" Bai Min asked.

He didn't know Wang Jin. He and Han Jie hadn't been in touch for a while. But that didn't mean he didn't have a doctor's oath to live by. Judging by the way Han Jun acted towards the woman, the now nonchalant attitude towards her, Bai Min guessed she wasn't worth much to them. Regardless of this, she was still human.

Han Jun mentioned the name of a hospital and startled everyone. Why does that place sounds like not the regular hospital?

"What?" Bai Min asked, sounding like he had forced the word from deep within.

Han Jun repeated the name of the hospital.

"We heard you the first time," Bai Min said, ignoring Han Jun's raised eyebrow. "We just want to know why she's going to a mental hospital instead of a place for her physical well-being." Bai Min finished, his face flushed.

"Oh. Suzuki Kyou said that her brother is there, so I am just helping out so she won't be so lonely." Han Jun said evenly. "Also, with her acting like this, doesn't that mean she is crazy like her brother? So, crazy siblings should be together."

"What?" Everyone on the staircase fairly shouted at Han Jun.

Han Jie stood and stared up at her cousin. Why was it Suzuki Kyou mentioned something like this to him but not to her?

Is her cousin thinking of using the mental issue as a means to get out of trouble for her?

Han Jun sighed and stared right at her and sighed. "Why do you keep asking if you heard me the first time?" He asked neutrally, still staring at Han Jie. "You always give me trouble."

I guessed correctly! Han Jie happily thought to herself. She then vowed to make things easier for him the next time. But teasing him is still so much fun…

Han Jie opened her mouth to speak but was interrupted by Han Jun's chiming smartphone.

"They're here." Han Jun said, cutting off anything Han Jie wanted to say.

"We have to be discreet." Han Jun said, immediately going into his usual ways.

Bai Min rolled his eyes, "How can you be thinking of such a thing when a woman in front of you might be dying?"

Han Jun ground his teeth against each other, biting back the words he wanted to spit at Bai Min.

Jonah, noticing the rising tension between everyone, moved to Wang Jin and picked her up.

"They'll be coming up?" Jonah asked Han Jun interrupting the current tension.

"I really would prefer it if you would let a professional do that." Bai Min said to Jonah before sighing in defeat. "OK, where are we taking her?" Bai Min asked Han Jun.

Han Jun looked at his phone before answering.

"Third floor, we don't want to get too involved." Han Jun turned and looked at Han Jie. "Go back up. Uncle is waiting there. I will take care of the rest here," he told her.

"But---" Han Jie began before she was interrupted.

"Now." Han Jun ordered there is tone not to allow any arguments.

Han Jie clenched her teeth and glared at Han Jun. 'I change my mind. You are still a bully, JunJun.'

"You'll tell us about the hospital when you get back?" Han Jie asked, wishing she didn't have to concede defeat. She held his eyes, daring him to look away before making the promise.

Han Jun gave her a curt nod without breaking eye contact. Han Jie sighed and got off from the step she was sitting on.

"I'll use the elevator on this floor." Han Jie said, head held high. Han Jun raised a brow at Han Jie's retreating back before letting out a helpless smile. His cousin, if possible, should really not go out.

Han Jun wanted to let out a smile of his own but years of practice helped him to hold it back in. Whenever he was dealing with his cousin, it always makes him lose his patience.

'These cousins are both troublesome,' Bai Min thought as they filed out of the surprisingly well-spaced emergency staircase out into the floor, they were on.

Bai Min frowned at the number indicating what floor they were on. That didn't seem right. Han Jie must have absolutely hated walking down those three flights of stairs. He shook his head in alarm.

Suppose Wang Jin had wanted to keep Han Jie as a friend, she should not have made Han Jie walk three flights of stairs. Bai Min shrugged it off.
