My New Isekai!

Chapter 55 - This Young Lad Gets Hit by Reality!

"Haru Evans, you're amazing!!!" Axel citizens said to me.

I shake my head, pushing makes and females out of my way as I made my way towards the Kazuma family.

I made it to the body of Kazuma, and went onto my hands and knees and shed my tears even more.

It was a full thirty minutes before my tears would stop dropping. I stood up, and watched while soldiers took Kazuma's body to a graveyard (yes, they're getting a grave immediately).

"Mom…" Kura said as she was trying to comfort the crying Megumin.

Megumin, suddenly stopped crying, but you could tell from her facial expression that she was trying as hard as she could to not. "Kura… I… I'm sorry…"

"It wasn't your fault, mom!!"

"It was, though. If only I'd fire that explosion in time…!"

I got emotionally carried away when she said this, "Megumin, this isn't your fault. It's mine. I'm the person who didn't check that he was dead. I'm the person who he was after. I'm the person who killed your husband - Satou Kazuma."

Megumin held back tears harder than ever, but turned away and started walking in the direction of the mansion. I could already tell what she was going to do; cry her heart out that her love died.

"I'm going to head home, as well, Haru…" Kura said walking behind Megumin.

While I - teary eyed - stood there in the middle of the street, Sakura came up from behind me.

"Haru, Haru. Are you alright?! Are you hurt?!"

"I'm not hurt physically, only mentally…!"

"..."

"..."

We stayed in silence for a few moments, she looked into my eyes and saw nothing. My eyes were completely blank.

"Haru, I know your friend died, and I know you're having a tough time getting through -"

"I'm having a hard time!? Oh gee, what gave it away?!"

"Calm down, Haru!"

"Yes, yes. You say 'calm down' but what if your friend died? What would you feel!?"

"I- Haru...I'm sorry…"

I took a sharp exhale. "Don't be sorry, just leave me alone for a bit," I said walking into the town, wanting to get away from all human contact. "Why did it have to be Kazuma? He didn't do anything wrong!" I mumbled to myself as I walked down the streets of Axel.

I felt useless, I felt powerless, I felt...despair. "God...what have I came too…?" I cried as I stared into the cloudy sky. "This has to be a dream, right? This whole thing must be one sick dream I'm having. This never happened, I never died, I didn't come to this world, I didn't make bonds with people here. It's all a dream...right…?

I slapped myself. "I can't think like that!!" I yelled at myself.

People stared at me like I was a crazy person, and thankfully, ignored me.

Then, for some reason, Sakura popped up again and walked up to me.

"Hey, Haru. I know you said to leave you alone, but I can't leave you all sad like that!" Sakura mentioned to me.

"It's okay...I guess. Sit down, at least," I said pointing to some chairs.

We sat down and ordered some food. "Well," Sakura started, "wanna talk about it…?"

"Yes…"

"Okay, speak up."

"Firstly, it's my fault. If only I didn't have human limitations, I wouldn't need to take a break after getting the breath taken out of my body. Secondly, I didn't check if he was dead. And lastly, I cause all of this by being victim of the Demon King General!!!"

"Look, Haru. Yes, the General may have been after you, but there are bound to be casualties in any event or quest. This one was destined for at least a few to die, and that they did. Satou Kazuma, the adventurer who beat the hardest dungeon, the highest level "adventurer" there is. Satou Kazuma accomplished many things in his lifetime. He had his misdeeds, he's had his good deeds - like when defeating the formal Demon King. Satou Kazuma has a good and eventful life. Legends die, but heroes die quicker. Everyone dies inevitably, you will, I will. So, put your head up high! I'm sure he wouldn't want you moving around over him!"

This took me by surprise. "You… you're right…! But I can still be sad that the person who gave me housing died in front of my very eyes…"

"Yes, you're allowed to be sad. You're allowed to shed tears, but even though he may have died, try to be happy."

She's right, I died in my old world, and people must feel horrible. So, I must respect Kazuma's sacrifice with honor, and not be depressed over it!

"Thank you, Sakura."

"No problem, Haru! Anything to help a friend."

I chuckled, but stopped. How am I going to help Kura and Megumin…?

Our food got to our table, and we eat. Of course, after eating, I paid for the meal and gave the waiter a tip. (That's how they do it in my country, so I'm applying that right here.)

"Goodbye, Sakura."

"I don't like the word 'goodbye,' it's negative. So, use, 'cya.' "

"Okay, cya then, Sakura."

"Cya, Haru!"

I turned around and started walking back to the mansion. I should talk with Kura and ask how she's doing about this conflict, shouldn't I?

Once making it back to the mansion, I walked in, and saw Megumin and Kura sitting down on the couch.

"Haru, you're back…"

"What going on…?" I asked hesitant.

"Nothing...just, Kazuma died…!" Megumin cried.

"I know...it's hard to believe…" I responded.

Kura stayed quiet during our short conversation. But, shot up at me, "Haru, I think dad did this on purpose!!"

"Wait, why would you say that…?"

"... He usually doesn't do stuff like that. He would let the person die. He didn't like to set off flags for situations, but it seemed he set off his own death flag entering that that battle. Almost like what happened to me!"

"Come on, you're joking, right?"

""No…!"" the two women exclaimed.

"..."

No...this can't be right. He sacrificed his life for mine…!?
