My New Isekai!

Chapter 8 - Epilogue 2

"I gotta get ready before dad and Haru come back!" I exclaimed, rummaging through my mage attire.

"Kura, you don't need to do it in haste, they're probably not gonna be back for another hour or two." Mom said, walking up to me and petting my head.

I stared down at the floor, "Yes I know, but I'm eager to do a quest. It's like I've been stuck in this house my entire life."

Mom used her hand to make my eyes connect with hers, "We never said you had to stay here, you've just been scared to leave the house alone. Respectfully so, you've only heard the stories that Kazuma told you."

No matter how many times she says it, calling dad that doesn't sound good to me.

"Yeah, but you have to admit, he did some pretty cool stuff as a teen and beyond!"

"He did, but don't listen to everything he says. Kazuma is one of those who'd bend the truth to make sure he didn't look like a wimp," Mom said.

Not that she said it, dad really did sound much like a superhero in his stories. That's probably how I've admired him for so long.

"Did dad really defeat the last Demon Lord?" I asked, hoping to not be lied to on that half.

"Yes he did," she started. "He almost died while doing it... The only reason he survived was through Aqua, and now...she's gone."

"Gone?" I asked.

"Yes, after the Demon Lord was defeated angels came down and brought Aqua back with them." Mom said, "We said our tearful goodbyes, and never saw her again."

"Oh, how long was this before I was born?"

"Around sixteen years ago."

"Wow, I said."

We stood there for a bit, in silence. Next thing I know, dad and Haru are back.

I awaited in silence, hoping he'd figure out I wanted to go on a quest. He did!
