"Xixi's soul is still in slumber, but I don't know how long I'll be in control for… I should go look for big brother now," Luo Xi muttered.

The reason she knocked Li Xue Lan unconscious was because she knew the woman would get in the way. She definitely would not let a little girl like her enter the facility, let alone face the unknown dangers that might be inside.

Without hesitation, Luo Xi exited the vehicle before locking it again. Long Yu had registered Xixi into the Black Shark's recognition system previously, so she could operate its functions to a certain extent.

Alone in her white dress, the little girl calmly walked towards the wooden cabin.

…..

Inside the facility.

Long Yu had already searched through quite a few rooms, but had yet to find anyone.

Frustrated, he almost resorted to shouting to announce his presence. Of course, he refrained himself from doing so since that would only attract unnecessary dangers.

"Maybe I should go find that researcher first…" Long Yu thought to himself.

Although he had the layout of the facility in his hands, it would speed up the process if he had the help of someone who was familiar with the place.

Having decided, Long Yu started to head towards a certain room on the plan.

….

*Duun*

The rectangular elevator platform once again arrived at the underground level of the facility.

Luo Xi calmly exited the elevator as she glanced at the two zombie corpses without batting an eyelid.

"It's so dark in here…" she complained while looking into the corridor.

Thinking this, she then went towards the body on her left and rummaged it for a bit before finding what she wanted.

*Click*

A ray of white light suddenly beamed, illuminating the dark corridor.

'Much better,' Luo Xi thought with a smile.

Her pink slippers started echoing soft pitter patters as she walked in silence.

Within moments, she reached the steel doors that had been pried open. With her small body, she squeezed through without problem.

Unfortunately, not long after entering, she found herself arriving at a crossway between two paths.

Since her ability wasn't related to tracking, she could not tell where Long Yu went.

"Haaa… I guess it can't be helped…" Luo Xi sighed as she randomly selected one of the paths to enter.

'This should be the place,' Long Yu looked at the room in front of him.

The doors were locked tightly so others could not get inside. Since that was the case, he either had to get the person inside to open it or forcefully do it himself.

*Knock* *Knock*

Long Yu knocked the door a few times but no one replied. He checked the security camera again and saw that the old man was still huddled at the corner without moving.

Seeing the person ignore him, he got a little annoyed.

"Hey, open up, it's safe out here now…" Long Yu tried to say in a friendly voice.

Still no answer.

"I was actually sent by the military to save you. Open the door."

"...."

"Hey bro, open up, I just want to chat."

"...."

"I can actually see you through the camera you know…"

"...."

"Hey, are you dead?"

"...."

However, even after several tries, the old man still had no intention of opening the door.

Eventually Long Yu got fed up and hacked the door access system to open it.

He then strode in to where the man was hiding, almost scaring him to death.

"Wah!! Who are you? What are you doing?!" the old researcher in the white lab coat screamed with anger.

"Alright old man, no need to panic. I'm just here to ask you some questions," Long Yu grabbed him by the scruff of his lab coat and placed him onto a nearby desk with one hand.

Since he was not welcomed, Long Yu did not feel the need to be too friendly either. After all, he did not have time to waste.

"You- you, what are you!" the researcher still seemed to be afraid of him.

"Oh, right…" Long Yu realised he was currently wearing his exoskeleton armor. He retracted his helmet to expose his face, to the shock of the researcher.

"You are…human?" the old man muttered with a stupefied expression.

"Of course I am. Aren't you a researcher? Why are you acting so surprised," Long Yu rolled his eyes and said.

"I specialise in genetics, alright!? Besides, such tech is not supposed to be possible yet, especially to such advanced extent!" the researcher replied indignantly. He felt that he had just embarrassed himself in front of the young man.

"Look, what I need from you, is to relay to me the events from the start when 'doomsday' happened," Long Yu said with a serious face.

"Doomsday eh… A fitting name I guess, considering the kind of hell that this world must have turned into."

"Alright young man, so what do you want to know about?" he easily agreed since he knew he had no choice.
