At a certain location inside the facility…

Long Yu looked at the corpse of a creature he just killed. A pool of blood started to form on the floor from the wound on its head.

"I assume this is one of the sick experiments you bastards concocted?" he coldly stared at the old researcher at next to him.

"No- I mean yes, but swear I took no part in these experiments! My role was only to research the genes extracted from the bones of mutated animals!" the researcher quickly denied.

"Forget it, I did not come here to lecture you nor does it matter anymore. Let's keep going," Long Yu said as he stepped over the pool of blood.

"Wait for me!" the old researcher hastily ran after him. He dragged his tired body, desperately trying to keep up with the young man.

As they continued to walk in silence, the old man tried to break the ice by asking Long Yu some questions.

"So young man, who exactly are you looking for? Since you dared to come and brave the dangers here, this person must be very important to you, no? he smilingly asked.

"None of your business," Long Yu replied without looking at him.

"Come on, don't be like that. Tell me who it is, perhaps I might have seen this individual before," the old man was unwilling to let go of the topic.

"….."

When he saw the young man reach for his pocket, he shrunk back in fear, thinking he was going to be hit.

"What are you closing your eyes for?" Long Yu's impatient tone entered his ears.

The old researcher gingerly opened his eyes and saw a photograph in front of him.

"Ah!" he subconsciously shouted before quickly covering his mouth.

"So you've seen this woman before? Where is she now?" Long Yu asked as he coldly squinted. He could tell that the researcher's reaction was a little strange.

"Sh- she is that woman! The one the General ordered to be captured-" before he could finish his sentence, he was grabbed by the neck and lifted into the air.

"What the do you mean captured?" Although Long Yu's tone was calm, a surge of anger could be felt from him.

The researcher was now sweating profusely. He knew he had to choose his next words carefully.

"D- Don't worry, I can assure you they haven't done anything to her yet. Last I heard, she was only sedated and placed inside a stasis chamber," he stuttered.

"Only sedated? Am I supposed to feel relieved hearing this?" Long Yu threw the old man against the wall. He had controlled his strength so that the old man would only suffer some bruises at most.

Since the system had informed him that Xixi's mother is still currently on the move, that would mean that she is no longer unconscious like mentioned by the researcher. Thus, he was not particularly angered by what he heard. Besides, he doubted she would still be there, but wanted to check anyway.

"So, which room was she held in? Bring me there," he looked down at the old man who was sitting on his b.u.t.t on the floor.

"Ah, yes, yes, it's actually not far from here. Just right ahead after this corner," the old researcher quickly got up and led the way, afraid he would anger the young man further.

A short while later, they arrived outside a room with an already opened doorway. The inside of the space was unusually large, with its ceiling reaching up to six meters high.

Long Yu readied himself for combat as he entered. However, all that greeted him were rows of white standing cylindrical pods. These were the stasis chambers mentioned by the researcher. They could preserve the life of entities kept inside while keeping them unconscious for a long period of time.

Yet now, all the glass to the chambers have been broken, causing the blue fluid inside to spill out onto the floor.

"As I expected, there must have been a malfunction, causing all the stasis chambers to lose power! From the looks of it, all those mutant experiments must have long awakened and crawled out of their chambers," the old researcher shivered in fear as he anxiously look around him.

Although the department he worked in did not participate in conducting the human experimentations, he still had some knowledge about them.

"So these stasis chambers were used to house mutant experiments like the one I just killed?" Long Yu asked while examining them. He realised the chambers actually varied in sizes; some large enough to fit a mountain bear.

"That is correct. Even though we worked in different departments, we would occasionally be allowed to visit this chamber room to observe the experiments' mutation process," the researcher replied.

"So why is this lone stasis chamber placed all the way over here?" Long Yu was standing in front of a human sized pod, which looked the smallest compared to the other ones. It was placed in the middle of the room, isolated from the other chambers.

"Oh, if I'm not mistaken, then this should be the chamber they used to keep your lady friend," the researcher promptly walked over and stood behind him subserviently.
