I froze for a moment before quickly replying.

“No, Knox if we’re both not hurt, we should keep staying that way.”

He nodded his head.

It was only midday but it’d be better if he went to sleep now instead of moving around anymore, right?

Knox obediently laid on his bed. However, his fingers clasped my hand and instead of removing them I just sat next to him, beside the bed.

“I’ll stay here till you fall asleep.”

“Okay. By the way, Amy.”

“Yes?”

“If I sleep now, can I not sleep at night?”1

What? My eyes widened as I looked at Knox.

After he spoke, he looked at me with eyes filled with fear and stubbornly sealed his mouth. He looked restless, probably because he was afraid that he would not be allowed to do so.

“Why?”

I replied with a question.

“So that I can be with you, even at night.”

I couldn’t possibly give him a reply to that.

‘… But aren’t we already together?’

“Can I not sleep?”

“No, it’s not that you can’t… No, it’s probably not possible.”

“Why?”

“At night… I still have things to do at night.”

I couldn’t just say, ‘I already see you at night when your adult form.’

Although it wouldn’t change much even if I told him, I couldn’t tell a child who had a boiling fever such a shocking truth. Even if I do tell him, I have to say it when he is in good health.

I scratched my cheek. Knox held onto me tightly, as if I would throw him away before saying carefully

“Who are you seeing at night?”1

“H-huh? O-oh. You’ll see when you see.”

In a daze, I almost said the truth.

Knox’s eyes stared straight at me.

“Who do you go to see at night?”

‘You.’

Dusk arrived and the sun dyed all the furniture scarlet. The light reached as far as Knox’s bed, as he laid there sleeping.

Huuu…haaa

The child fell asleep peacefully while breathing in small breaths as if he didn’t have a wound on his back.

The curtains fluttered.

There was a bookshelf next to the child’s bed. I turned my head towards it as I wanted to read a book.

‘I think I have to start preparing for dinner soon.’

That said, how do I remove his hand from me?

Knox had a tight grip on one of my sleeves. Every time I tried to remove them he would open his eyes. He would give me a look as if I had betrayed to him. Even though the boy may look like he would be weak forever, the male lead will always be the male lead.

I couldn’t just leave the child that would cry over me leaving.

This is a big problem. I still have to do the laundry, fold the dried sheets, and make dinner by tomorrow morning.

I winced. Holding my breath, I began my eighth attempt to escape. I gently peeled off his fingers.

Maybe it was because of the drugs. But he seemed to be sleeping more peacefully now.

‘I escaped!’

I placed the child’s small hand carefully back on the pillow. Making sure Knox wouldn’t wake up, I crept away and shut the door quickly.

“Hu… Ha…”

After successfully closing the door, I leaned back and gave a sigh.

When did it get dark? Time had passed quickly because I could see the sun already setting past the mountains. Since Knox got hurt yesterday, time seemed to be passing by quite fast.

After I lost my parents and settled down with my sister, I had never left this place.

Because I knew the forest outside was dangerous, I never felt stuffy or constrained in this house. Most importantly, I never felt bored because of my sister’s efforts. Just like that, my life had always been peaceful. This was until Knox showed up, my life now felt like a swirling whirlpool.

I never regretted receiving the flag on my sister’s behalf, but I wonder how the world had changed because of my choice.

After Knox disappeared, his entire knighthood goes out to search for him.

Knox’s cherished Knighthood of Dawn, ‘Lux’, were the most active in the search for him. Although they were competent they were a step behind the Crown Prince.

When the knights finally arrived at dawn, Knox was already standing before a dead woman. That woman was Diana, who was Knox’s first love.

‘That day, his tears flowed for the first time.’

The readers could tell how much Knox had loved my sister, but I wasn’t so sure whether Knox would feel the same even in this situation. Well, at least we’ll already be out of the way when the imperial knights arrive.

I’ll first have to find a way to find out whether the imperial knights have started their search. With the little clues I have from the novel, I’ll have to figure it out myself

When my sister comes back, should I ask her?

When I finished folding the laundry and was heading back inside the house, I was stunned.

“You’re already awake?”

Knox had the night sky behind him.

“I just woke up.”1

“Ah…”

Knox reached out his hand towards my direction.

“I was looking for you.”

Looking at his gesture to come, I took cautious steps towards him before stopping.

Wait. Wasn’t I obeying him too calmly? When I first looked at his fierce gaze, it felt as if the obvious choice was to follow what he asked.

“Where were you?”

“Where else could I be. I was in the house all this time and I’m behind schedule. I only managed to make dinner and prepare breakfast. Ah. Aren’t you hungry?”

“I’m not hungry yet.”

He looked exactly like his child self when he asked me where I’ve been. If I wanted to run away, where would I even go? My sister hasn’t even come home yet.

Knox looked at me and frowned.

“… Too far.”

“What?”

“Why are you sitting so far away?”

“That’s because… No. I mean, what’s it got to do with you?”

“Too far.”2

Compared to the distance we were at when I was bleeding, we were now further apart. The distance we had now was like that time when I sat at the edge of his bed.

When I was about to open my mouth to ask what he meant, I was caught in a sturdy arm. Knox, with his arms twisting around my waist, tilted his head.

“I can’t see your face from that far away.”1

I noticed since the previous night, that he was insanely ,no, abnormally strong. I already knew about his strength but experiencing it first hand, it’s more amazing than I thought.

I swallowed my saliva. Looking at him carefully, I opened my mouth.

“You surprised me. You shouldn’t… touch a person like this… without permission.”

“Really? I didn’t know.”

I tilted my head before frowning.

“You don’t know… but it’s common sense though?”

“I don’t have memories, remember?”1

How could he answer so shamelessly? Looking closer at Knox, I noticed that there was a subtle difference.

Instead of looking the part of Grand Duke, he looked more like a limping wolf.

I heard that wolves were animals that could never be domesticated. That’s why Knox would never change his stance and always crossed the line.

I didn’t think much about his behaviour since I knew about the male lead’s past. But it would’ve been weird if I were too nice.

But now, the fact that I couldn’t say anything back to him made me feel strange.

“Why… are you so busy today?”

I carefully reached out my hand and touched his forehead. I noticed him flinch but he didn’t avoid my hand. ‘Did his fever go down?’

“You don’t have a fever.”

“I don’t feel sick.”

I guess he did look better than yesterday, but why wouldn’t he feel sick? Since he was sick he shouldn’t be able to carry on with life like normal, but his eyes were as calm as usual.

Rather, I was the one feeling awkward with his arms around me.

“Uhm. So, what I’m trying to say is that it’s common sense to ask for permission before touching someone.”

“Common sense.”

“Yes, common sense.”

For a while, I didn’t know what else to say. Knox continued to stare at me.

“I didn’t know.”

‘Now that you know, can you please let go of me now?’ was what I was about to say but Knox beat me to it.

“From now on, how about you teach me common sense?”

“… What?”

“Weren’t you… determined to bring me here?”

I mean, who would be determined to bring people into their homes? No, I mean, what kind of determination was he talking about? Determined to do what exactly?

(T/N: I’m not exactly sure whether I translated this part correctly because I was basing it more off the context instead of translating what she said. I had no idea what she was saying ;P)

But to be honest, I didn’t feel bad. That’s right. It was nice that he had firm muscles and soft skin… But the fact that I liked it was the problem. There was nowhere I could look! His breath was close enough to tickle my ears.

“…Uhm, I mean, who would have thought the boy I rescued would turn into a half-naked man at night…”

Although, I did already know that.

“Then, all I have to do is adapt to it.”

“…”

That’s why keep wondering why he was being so pushy today. Looks like I wasn’t imagining it. I leaned my head back as I pushed his chest away.

“Uh… Dinner! I think you should eat dinner. Uhm. You have to eat before taking your medicine. I’ll go prepare it right now. Just wait here for a while. Then, excuse me.”

“You don’t need to do that. I’ll take you there.”

“What?”

Knox stood up while carrying me in his arms.

“Wait a minute!”

I thought about this yesterday but Knox carried me as if I was a feather. And if all men were like Knox, no women would ever have to think about dieting again.

I mean, didn’t you agree 3 minutes ago that you should ask a person for permission before touching? It’s not like losing your memories will make you stupid when you were originally smart. This man was doing it on purpose.1

“Why is an injured person carrying someone? P-put me down!”

“It hurts more when you move like that.”

I froze. My hands stopped automatically.

“What, you said you weren’t hurt just now.”

“Maybe it hurts just a little?”

“…”

Should I believe those words? Why was he talking about this with such a calm face?

While staring at Knox confusedly, we arrived at the kitchen and he put me down gently. The problem was that he placed me atop a table.1

On the other side of the kitchen, the porridge I had made for Knox had steam coming out of it. I heated it just in case he woke up in the evening.

Anyways, I thought that since we were in the kitchen, I should just give that to him, so I asked.

“Do you want to eat the porridge?”

“Did I eat that during the day?”

“Huh? Yes.”

For some reason, Knox narrowed his eyes towards the pot. He looked uncomfortable but I could only give him a look of impatience. I wondered whether he had managed to remember things from the day.

Knox’s most hated food was porridge. So, just in case, I had made something else.

“Do you not like porridge? Should I give you something else? We have stew and bacon. Oh, if you can wait for a while, I could make you sandwiches.”

“No. I don’t hate it.”

“Ah, what a relief. Porridge is the best for digestion. You enjoyed it very much during the day.”

“The me in the day?”

“Huh? Yes. I added some herbs so it should help with your recovery.”

I looked at him innocently. But then, he looked at me and asked.

“How did I eat it?”

“What? Well, since it was porridge… I just fed you a spoonful at a time… though?”1

I didn’t know what else he wanted me to say so I just stared at him. But Knox who was frowning for some reason, said.1

“Let’s eat like that.”

“Huh?”

“I asked you to feed me.”1

Before he could continue, I quickly cut him off.

“What are you talking about? The Knox in the day couldn’t use his arms well so I fed him.”

“I can’t use my arms too.”2

Mister, didn’t you carry me just now?

The man who had been carrying me in his arms had the nerve to say that. Trying to fight back, I looked into his eyes but flinched at his fierce gaze.

“Don’t tell me. Is there a reason why you can feed the me in the day but not the me now?”1

What reason was he talking about? If he talked so close to me, all the words I wanted to say would run away from me.

I swallowed my breath and nodded my head first. Then, I came down from the table and rushed to the pot.

Clang.

It dawned on me that I was really going to be feeding him once I placed the bowl of porridge and spoons in front of him.

“Uhm, Knox, was it a joke…”

“No.”

“Of course not. Yes, there’s no way that’d be a joke. Uhm.”

I may have agreed to do this, but it was easier said than done. In a flash, Knox lifted me once again and placed me on top of the table. I could only blink confusedly as I sat on the table.

“We weren’t at eye level.”

“Ah…”

I wanted to ask if I could sit on the chair instead, but I thought about our size differences. I realised that even this table was too small for Knox to use.

Although the position was a bit awkward, I picked up a spoonful and gave it a big blow. All the while Knox was staring at me, giving me cold sweat.

Knox opened his mouth and slurped a spoonful. I didn’t know how the action of him swallowing and the movement of his Adam’s apple could be so weird. It was probably because he was half-naked.1

My word. I can’t believe this man who had two fine arms by his sides needed me to feed him. I couldn’t find a place for my eyes to look, so I just swallowed my breath.

“… Does it taste good?”

“It’s tasty.”

Hoping time would pass faster and this would be over soon. I just scooped up whatever from the spoon and fed it to him.

“N-Now that I think about it, I think my sister will be back tomorrow.”

“Really?”

“Yes. I’m sure she’ll bring back a lot of delicious food. Sometimes, she might even bring back new clothes. She usually brings a lot of stuff… Oh, she’s like Santa Claus.”

As I continued talking more about my sister, I felt less awkward about feeding him.

I think it would be better if my sister could hurry back. I would prefer it to staying alone with Knox who would throw curved balls suddenly.

“I hope my sister comes back soon.”

“I’m not sure about that. Your opinion is different from mine.”

“Huh?”

Instead of answering, Knox just stared at me. What’s wrong? I looked at what he was looking at and then, looked at the sky.

I think my sister will be back by tomorrow. She would never come home straight back from the village since she would detour to hunt for food. But when she returns with luggage, she would always head straight back.+

Would she have left the village by now?
