(Knox’s POV)1

After much difficulty, he opened his eyes. Something in front of him sparkled like the stars at night. It was Amy’s hair. He murmured, as he gazed upon her fluttering orange hair.1

… It looked like the stars shining at night.

He truly felt like Amy’s hair sparkled. But Knox thought what he was seeing wasn’t reality but a figment of his imagination. No, it felt more like a dream. He swore he saw the sun rising behind the girl.

“Knox. Knox! You have to keep conscious. Huh? Can you hear me? This poison can cause you to hallucinate when you have a high fever.”

He felt something touch his neck in this strange reality that felt more like a dream. As the touch grazed his neck, he winced at the chills it gave and the goosebumps its raised.1

Come to think of it, he got hurt somewhere on his body. Knox who realised this, paused for a moment.

He saw no scars.

Was it really all just a dream then? Was his fall and the sunrise he saw all just a dream? Wounds couldn’t heal in just a day. It made more sense if everything he saw didn’t happen, but he still felt weird.

Looking down at Amy, Knox reached out his hand. He lifted the girl and laid her next to him. The girl, who was now lying precariously at the edge of the bed they were both laying on, was peacefully asleep. Knox laid next to her, stayed still, and stared at her.

“Hng…”

He slowly lifted her hair and placed it gently next to her cheek. Under the moonlight, her hair was bright orange and Knox realised her hair was the reason why he wanted to see her in the day.

“… You look like you’re sleeping well.”

An unbelievable scene just flashed across his mind. Was that a dream too?

“Reynok. Reynok. Please wake up.”

In the scene, Amy was calling him a strange name as she shook him.

“You can’t lie down here like this. Reynok. Reynok!”

The name he heard in that dream remained clearly engraved in his mind. He couldn’t get the name out of his head.

Why did she call him that? Why didn’t it feel strange?

As he tried to say it, his eyes narrowed.

He had no idea why she would call him that…

The name had felt familiar.

(Amy’s POV)

T/N: This part was a little confusing (even for me) so I’ll be saying who says what.1

(Amy) “Uhm, this is strange.”

I thought it would be nice to have nothing to do since I was sick but it wasn’t.

For the past 10 years I have always been doing something in the day, now I felt restless since I wasn’t doing anything. It seems like I have developed the traits of a professional housewife.

Oh my God. I’d rather wash the dishes than continue lying down like this. It was clear that I had been trained well. I had been in charge of this house, taking care of it whenever my sister was away.

Furthermore, since this was the only thing I was good at, I worked harder at it. Now, it had become my routine. That was why I was feeling restless.

(Amy) “Phew. Since I’m awake, I should start cleaning up first.”

My fever was still present, so my sister made sure that I was comfortably lying down. She had no choice but to feed me herbs, since we didn’t have any medicine or doctors around here. But I was frustrated with my slow recovery.

Actually, there was someone else, other than me, who was injured after last night’s scuffle.

(Diana) “You want to sleep with him? Gosh, what are you talking about when you’re sick! I’ll take him to my room!”1

I had been freaking out last night, trying to stop my sister from bringing Knox to sleep in her room. I finally succeeded in persuading my sister to let him sleep with me. But only after acting cute, whining, and arguing with her…

(Diana) “Don’t you think you love Knox a little too much? If you give Knox too much attention it can become poisonous to him, Amy. Your sister is just worried about you.”

In the end, she had this absurd misunderstanding, believing that I was obsessed with this child.

What do you mean, obsessed? My sister was being ridiculous. Although, I just wanted to prevent her from suddenly seeing an adult body replace that of a child’s. It must have looked like her sick sister was uselessly obsessing over a child. I understood where she was coming from… but I was a bit disappointed that such a misunderstanding came about.

Obsessed. She said that I was obsessed! That’s only because she didn’t know that he was the male lead!

(Knox) “… Why are you suddenly crying?”

(Amy) “Just because.”

It was because of you, Mister.

My lies to my sister were increasing day by day; all because I was trying to hide this Mister who becomes a young adult by night. I swallowed the words that I had been meaning to say, and I dropped my head to bury it in my hands.

(Amy) “… This is so unfair.”

(Knox) “What are you talking about?”

“It’s because my sister said that I was obsessed with you. When she doesn’t even know anything.”

“… Obsessed?”

“It’s what she said when I tried to stop her from taking you to her room to sleep. She was being so unfair to me…”

I wanted to just hide it at first, but it was becoming impossible now that Knox’s cycle was ending. It should be fine now, since enough time has passed since Dianna and Knox have met, the flag wouldn’t transfer over to my sister.1

(Knox) “Won’t you tell your older sister?”3

(Amy) “… I’ll have to. But I can’t bring myself to say it.”

My sister had no idea what sacrifices I had made to help her avoid the death flag. It may have been quite obvious but my sister had committed no crimes. It was just me who decided by myself to hide it from her.

I know that I couldn’t hide it for much longer. But it was hard for me to bring it up so I’ve been putting it off day after day. I know I’ll have to say it soon, but…

(Amy) “It’s a little hard to say it now.”

(Knox) “Why’s that?”

“… I don’t know how she’ll react to you after I tell her.”

There was once a monster hunter who got lost in the Night Forest. He had found our house and let himself in. That night, my sister overpowered him and cut him down in one stroke.

“Amy. I have no choice but to cut down men like him.”1

She might have been smiling then, but I knew her character too well.

I can’t even imagine what would happen if he got caught. Now that we’ve come so far, she wouldn’t be settling this issue with a sword, would she?4

“Knox, what do you think I should do?”

“On whether you should tell your sister or not?”

“Yes.”

Knox lifted his upper body slowly.

“Well, I’d prefer it if you didn’t.”

He raised his head to look at me before slowly getting up. As the sheets drooped down, it revealed his rock hard abs.4

As soon as I realised what was happening, I stealthily turned my head towards him.

“W-why?’

His arm hugged me from my side, locking me in place as his big hand covered mine.5

“I hate it when someone other than you calls my name.”6

His low voice gave me goosebumps. My pulse was becoming as sporadic as my heartbeat. Compared to when the Knox in the day tried to touch my heart, my heart was beating a little louder this time.1

I couldn’t help but to place my hand on my chest, trying to keep my breathing levelled. I wanted to put my hand down, but I couldn’t budge.

I have no choice… I have to start making him clothes.

I jutted my lips out and managed to force the words out.

“D-do we have to continue talking in this position?”

Knox tilted his head and replied in a beat.

“If we don’t talk like this, you won’t meet my eyes.”1

I whimpered.

“That’s… because your gaze was too fierce.”

“Me? Then, I’ll smile.”

I think it would be more dangerous if you smiled with that face.

I swallowed the words I wanted to say as I tried to scoot backwards.

The problem was that if I tried to put some distance between us, he would try to narrow that distance so we wouldn’t be too far apart. Eventually, my back hit the wall.

“W-why are you coming closer?”

“Because you were running away.”

“If I stop running away, will you let me go?”

He gave me no answer. I was nervous for his reply but I tried to keep calm.

“H-how about, uhm, we keep some distance between each other and talk?”

He pulled the sheets back up till his hips as if it were some sort of a shield before puffing his chest out. He didn’t budge.1

Instead, he wrinkled his forehead before smiling and placed his hand on my cheek.

Startled, I jumped and pushed hard against his chest. His body fell over the bed but the sheet managed to keep him in place. He barely balanced himself by holding onto my waist, putting us in a weird position where I was laying on top of him. But the problem wasn’t the fact that Knox almost fell down.2

Knock knock.

“Amy, are you asleep?”

I knew it. I didn’t hear it wrong.

“I came to change the water for your towel. Can I come in for a second? … Sounds like you’re asleep.”

My eyes widened before I looked back and forth between Knox and the door.

“W-what do we do?”2

“…”

Knox remained firm in his place.

Click.

I could hear the doorknob turning. W-wait is my sister just coming in like this? I froze as I pushed myself away from his chest.

This can’t be happening. Just as the thought of preventing this came to mind, I opened my mouth.

“D-diana!”

“Amy?”

“Yup, I’m fine! My fever’s gone! My face is now cold and my towel’s still wet. So, I’m completely fine.”

The doorknob stopped turning. It would have been strange if I had been in a normal situation and my sister hadn’t come in. But in such a difficult situation, I was only grateful that she didn’t open the door.

With my hands still on Knox’s chest, I gulped nervously.

“Is that so? Hmm.”

I was now experiencing more suspense than any other horror movie just because of the separation that a thin door provided.

“You don’t have to change your clothes?”

“Huh? Yeah! I’m fine! It’s completely fine! If I change my clothes now, I’m just going to get wet again anyway. I’ll just sleep like this.”

I might have sounded desperate, but please just accept is as it is. No. Just leave. Just leave and… Fortunately, the door that I had been worrying about never opened, but I heard my sister’s voice.

“Is that so? Well, alright. It looked like I woke you up.”

“Uh, yeah! Sleep well, Diana!”

“Alright. You too.”

Even without seeing it, I could tell my sister was smiling. At the same time, I started panting like someone who had just finished running a marathon.

“… We’re saved.”

Thud. Thud.

It wasn’t until the sound of footsteps walking away was completely gone that I finally relaxed.

Before my memories of living in Korea came back to me, I had no memories of my life when I was a child.

So, of course, I went through puberty. Since then, the number of times my sister had abruptly opened the door to my room had decreased, but it was still a relief she didn’t this time around too.

Thank God for puberty …

Only then did I stare back at Knox who had been staring at me all this time. After managing to overcome such a difficult situation together, his gaze felt friendlier.

But he wasn’t saying anything.

“We were saved, right?”

“… Was it such a relief?”

“Huh? Of course, it is. We can’t get caught…”

Knox chuckled softly.1

“If you’re relieved, then it’s fine.”

At the same time, I widened my eyes and flinched.

He laughed? He just laughed a little, didn’t he?

Despite distancing myself from him a bit, my hand was still in his. Then, he brought the hand he had been holding towards his lips. I was surprised.

“There’s a scent coming from you.”

“A scent? Ah, it must be the herbs… Then, there should be a scent.”

So, could you stop coming closer to me? Instead of looking like a normal action, it looked more like he was a beast who was shoving my hand into his nose. The moment I realised that my hand was dangerously close to his lips, my cheeks flared up.

“By the way, how long will you be staying on top of me?”

“What? Huh?!”

“I wouldn’t mind if we continue laying like this.”9

Only then did I realise that I was still lying on his chest.

This was crazy. Where the heck have I been touching all this time?1

My pale hands, which were a result of me not leaving the house often, stood out against his tanned chest. As I laid above his chest, my heart thumped. It felt as if even my fingertips were turning red.

“S-sorry!”

I wanted to get up quickly, but his legs trapped me in their hold. Knox leaned back, before raising his upper body.

I was now sitting on his thighs with his arms still around my waist supporting me.3

I met his gaze.

“Amy?”

“Y-yes?”

“I think it’ll be okay if we could just stay like this.”

“…”

“Do I have to ask for permission this time too?”

He had a very strong grip. I could tell just from his muscular body. I’ve seen his naked chest so many times before, but I still couldn’t get used to it. This half-naked man was holding me in place with his sturdy arms.

I didn’t know how to reply to him so I just lowered my head.

“Do you not like it?”

“I-I…”

The door swung open.14

I was just about to say something but I froze as Knox continued to hold me.

“Amy, it looks like I am still very worried about you. I got a new wet towel for you, Amy…? Huh?”

For a while, there was silence.2

Time continued to pass as no one spoke up. Neither my sister, who had opened the door, nor me who still had my hands on his chest, spoke a word.

My eyes widened before I finally stuttered.

“D-diana? I-I can explain.”

“Amy.”

My sister cut me off. As she slowly looked at the both of us, she opened her lips. With such a tense atmosphere, my sister continued speaking.

“Your sister is a little sad that you kept this a secret.”

“H-huh?”

“Why didn’t you tell me? I was so surprised. You’re too much. Were you trying to date behind your sister’s back?”8

“How did you come to that conclusion!”

“… Then did you get engaged without your sister knowing?”

“W-what are you talking about? Where would I find people in this forest?”

“Hmm, is that so?”

Flustered, I tried to speak but I could only stutter.

“Then who is this man? And why is he holding your waist like that when you’re not dating nor engaged… ?”1

No, I mean she had a point. But as my sister continued to attack me with facts, my face could only get redder. Did she have to talk about it like that?

But as soon as I met her gaze, my hands that had been groping Knox’s chest, slowly slid down.

I realised that my sister was holding back her anger.

This is bad. My sister was angry.

“He’s also not wearing any clothes.”

“Diana! I think you’re misunderstanding something. He’s wearing pants underneath the sheets!”3

“…”

“… I said he was wearing something.”

… I realised that I sounded like an idiot saying all that but it was too late. Dumbfounded, my sister burst into laughter.

“Amy. Is that all you have to say?”

“… N-No.”

I quickly zipped my lips up.

She was usually quite nice but when she gets angry, she becomes very scary. All I could do was to shut up and quietly beg her to calm down. I clearly remembered how my sister took care of the person who came into our house by accident.

“For now, instead of you, I’ll have a chat with that person behind you. … What are you doing hiding behind someone younger than you?”

My sister whispered sweetly.

Knox’s body started tensing up. Realising I had to do something, I reached out to Knox and tried to clear the misunderstanding with my sister.

“D-diana, this person originally can’t really speak…”

“Are you already protecting your lover?”

“No! I’m telling you it’s not like that!”

My sister’s face then contorted into a sneer.

“How disgusting.”

In a flash, my sister’s gaze changed.

Ting!2

My sister pulled out the black dagger she had hung on the wall. She had placed it there to prepare for anything that could happen.

Only then, did I realised despite the fact that she was speaking like how she normally would, she was very angry. She was angrier than I thought she was.+

“For now, move out of the way.”

“D-diana, wait!”

I’ll have to first calm her down, right? Geez, these are the two people who shouldn’t be fighting with swords right now!
