My Swarm Academia: Call Of The Void

Chapter 10 - Meet Class 1-A

A few days later, school began.

That morning, Kai and Ayako got up early and put their uniforms on for the first time. For Kai, that was a white collared shirt, a tie, a gray suit coat, and dark green slacks. Much the same for Ayako, except a skirt of the same color and black leggings.

With one final check of their supplies, the two were out the door. Just as in going to the test, they took the Zergling Express. While they got odd looks just as before, this time, seeing them in UA's uniform, the looks turned to envy. While they might have still been judging on the inside, UA had a much higher weight in this city.

With the speed of the Zergling Express, they were among the first students at UA's gates. Both of them stood outside the gates, looking up at the shining building before them.

"This is it! First day of school! You ready for this, Onii-chan?"

"I think so."

"What, you think that something is going to happen," Ayako asked, elbowing Kai. "At UA? The teachers are the best! Nothing is going to happen."

"Remember, the best disappointed my mom before."

Ayako had nothing to say to that.

"Oh, well," Kai said, stepping forward through the gate. "If anything happens, I'm sure that things will be handled. Assuming, that is, that all of my teachers read the file they now have on me."

If any of them didn't, I'm sure that the fool will see hell, he thought. Chances are, there will be one.

With a hug in the hall, the two separated to their classes.

After a little bit of looking, he was able to find 1-A with no problem. Taking a deep breath to prepare himself, Kai slid the door open. As he did so he plastered a smile on his face, wanting to make a good first impression.

Aaaaaannnnd… the room was empty. There were just twenty empty chairs. Of course. Ayako wanted to be early today. The smile disappeared from Kai's face. Why did his best friend/kind of sister have to be so perky? This was school, not a party. With a sigh at his wasted effort, he walked over to the sixth seat. He sat down, lay his head on the desk, and pulled out his phone.

He closed his eyes. To any observer, he would appear to be simply sleeping. Not far off, but his mind was far more active. He ran mental exercises, trying to improve his mental capacity by brute force. Which is to say, he was running a table of exponents through his head, trying to improve on his current time. unfortunately, he always slowed terribly around 6, and he only went to 12 and the power of 5.

Even he knew that this was a primitive way to work on his mind, which was a necessary part of training his Quirk. But, he hadn't had time to summon some zerglings to do what Ayako would call a circus routine, or something equally complicated and not to mention entertaining. And, of course, there wasn't room for that here. As long as he was just stuck in the classroom alone, this was all he could do.

Besides, the quiet was not to last.

As he muddled through calculating 7 to the fourth, the door slid open. Kai's eyes snapped open, but he held his resting posture. Out of the corner of his eye, he could see girl walking in. She was fairly tall, with her long black hair pulled back into a spiky ponytail. She held her head up high, though she was somewhat taken aback seeing Kai apparently sleeping at the desk. She had expected that she would be the first to arrive. Not only was she not, the guy who was was sleeping already. She jumped when he suddenly spoke.

"Don't worry, I wasn't sleeping." Kai stood up and extended his hand to her. "Kaisei Oguchi, Quirk: Monster Master. I can call on some… creatures, let's just say, to fight with me."

After a moment, the girl shook his hand.

"Momo Yaoyorozu. Quirk: Creation. Do you always introduce yourself this way?"

She had no problem telling about her Quirk, as it was going to be revealed anyways with school. However, it was an unusual addition to introducing oneself.

"No, as a matter of fact, I like to pull out my Quirk and scare the living daylights out of them. But, since I will be working with everyone in this class, I feel like it's appropriate to give you fair warning. Additionally, I got to know your name and Quirk easily. Creation sounds like it would be an Epic class Quirk, but you weren't on the board for the entrance exam. I'm guessing you got in on recommendation?"

Momo was not sure how to react to this. He had figured out that much from just the name of her Quirk? She hadn't given him any details.

"How did you-"

"Quirks tend to be named simply. If you are a student at UA, it makes sense that you are a great operator, if not carried by a powerful Quirk. I'm thinking you are a mix of both, judging by your attitude- powerful Quirk in intelligent hands. How does it work? I'm guessing that you-"

Suddenly, a rush of voices came into the room as more people filed in and started claiming seats. First was an empty girl's uniform, then ball boy from the test, someone with a bird head, then it got hard for Kai to keep track. With a quick bow to Yaoyorozu, he returned to his seat. Sitting down, he returned to his resting position. Quickly, the seats filled up. The class seemed lively.

"You!"

Kai knew that voice and sighed internally. He wished for two things: normal, nondescript hair that made him less distinct, and that he wasn't going to have to deal with Aoyama very much. That guy had nothing but sparkles in his head. At least he was friendly.

"Hi Aoyama."

Yuga Aoyama eagerly started talking at Kai, who was wishing he would just shut up. Then came a pair of louder voices, more so as Aoyama trailed off to look in that direction.

"No running in the halls!"

"Like I care! Shut up glasses!"

In walked a boy with spiky ash-blond hair and a messy, sagging uniform. Arguing with him was a familiar face with glasses- the one from the entrance exam. They were shouting at each other in what seemed to be a continuing argument about following rules. Great. Classic wamp-sack vs. maj-sack. Always a point of contention. (Wamp-sack coming from wampaku, meaning mischievous, or naughty, but more colloquially just a troublemaker who won't follow rules)

Now Kai had three headaches to worry about in this class.

… and he owed Ayako dinner for a week.
