"You know, I was really worried for a second there! I thought you weren't going to catch on! But you figured something out, and don't have to worry about trying to be a Quirkless hero! Of course, you wouldn't be the first, but hey, that's life, eh?"

As Kai finished speaking, he sat down, seeing brief trouble in the blond guy walking up to Midoriya. He prepped his Quirk and put one hand on the ground, but held for a moment, curious as to how things would shake out. There could be information worth letting him rant and scream for a moment.

Luckily, this idiot was also simple-minded.

Just as Kai had predicted, Bakugo set an explosion off in his hand to rush up to Midoriya.

"What is this, Deku!?! Explain to me now, sh*trag!"

Well, Kai hadn't expected civility from him, but he could at least have better curses and insults. Or said more before the inevitable happened.

Before Bakugo could grab Midoriya, the explosions in his hands cut off and he was wrapped by the same cloth that had grabbed Midoriya before.

"What the hell is this," he shouted. Honestly, did this guy have any different volume settings?

"It's my special capturing weapon, made with steel fibers and carbon nanotubes," Aizawa said. "But more importantly, stop making me use my Quirk so much, dammit! I have dry eye!"

Kai sighed, hearing that. No rumors were going to have that information. It was a pity, but one of the principles of Quirkology was that every power came with some kind of price or limitation. There probably wasn't much that could be done for him.

Aizawa sighed. "We're wasting time. Prepare for the next trial."

As the class moved, Kai and Uraraka checked on Midoriya. According to him, the damage to his finger wasn't as bad as the past time. Duh. The last time, he destroyed both legs and a whole arm, was a single finger really supposed to match up? Still, it did seem halfway functional, which was better than total destruction, but it still looked horrible.

Through the remaining, boring tests (flexibility and upper body strength type stuff), Kai pondered the problem with Midoriya. Between his lack of control and Bakugo's vehement reaction, his Quirk really had come out very recently. But that just raised more questions. Why now? Why not before? There didn't seem to be a procedure to activate, so what was up with the Quirk? It did seem to have convenient timing though…

A few theories came to mind, but they didn't have enough merit for Kai to try to fish for more information now. Better questions would be ones pertaining to how to hasten his growth. It was just too much of a waste for an enhancing Quirk to just be a glass cannon. Typically, physical enhancement Quirks like that had sustainability as their primary advantage.

Kai was unable to come to any conclusions before the last of the trials was finished. The class grouped up as Aizawa pulled out his smartphone. At the press of a button, a hologram appeared in the air, ranking all 20 students by their results. Kai was mildly surprised that Yaoyorozu had the top place. He hadn't kept track of everyone's results, but he knew her Quirk couldn't directly boost her results, so she had had to produce a new device every time.

Sadly, Midoriya still got last place, despite his showing at the softball pitch. But, as despair filled his face and he closed his eyes against reality, Aizawa spoke again.

"Oh, yeah, that whole 'expulsion' thing was a lie." Obviously enjoying the shocked looks of disbelief on everyone's faces, he continued. "It was a logical ruse to draw out your best performances."

Most of the class screamed out, frustrated that their fear had been in vain.

"Come on, guys, of course it was a ruse, use your brains," Yaoyorozu said.

Kai, on the other hand burst into laughter again, as he was the only one who knew the truth. The "Reaper of Hope" had a heart after all. Briefly, Kai wondered what details about the students that had been expelled by his hands before had been left out, as Aizawa clearly just had good standards.

As Aizawa dismissed the class to go change and return to the classroom, and Midoriya to the nurse's office, he was stopped by a sudden voice.

"Sensei!"

Turning around, he came face to face with Kai. Before speaking again, Kai punched his fist into his other palm and bowed his head.

"Thank you for teaching us," Kai shouted. Lifting up his head with a grin, he continued, "You are the first in this country that is actually worthy of the title. I look forward to working with you!"

With that, Kai went after his classmates, leaving Aizawa-sensei to walk off, musing about the meaning behind Kai's words.

Having read the file that Principal Nezu had distributed to Class 1-A's teachers, he knew that Kai wouldn't have said something like that without it coming from the heart. That having been said, what was the intent?

Well, as Aizawa pondered the meaning and ran into a relieved All Might, Kai caught up with his classmates.

"So, Mcdonald's after school? First round's on me," he said in a joking manner.
