My Swarm Academia: Call Of The Void

Chapter 46 - Fun With the Class- The Calm Before the Storm

The next morning was odd for the students of Class 1-A, as nothing strange happened. After all, on Monday, Aizawa had set the Quirk Apprehension test, Tuesday was the first day of actual classes, Wednesday they were swarmed by reporters, and yesterday had had Kai's bizarre performance.

As a matter of fact, nothing happened at all until lunch ended.

"For the foundational skill of heroics we'll study today," Aizawa droned, "it has been decided that you will be supervised by a three man team including me and All Might."

"Sensei! What will we be doing?" Sero called out from the back.

"Be the hero everyone needs, whether it's a flood or any other disaster. It's the Rescue Trial!"

"Rescue Trial, huh? Sounds more difficult than before!" Kaminari said.

"Come on, that's what being a hero is all about!" Kirishima replied, slapping him on the back.

"Besides, that means nobody has to go against…" Ashido trailed off, looking towards Kai.

Kai clicked his tongue and made finger guns with a smile and a wink. It seemed that after yesterday, everyone had decided to treat him as an oddity rather than a psycho. For the most part.

"Anyways," Aizawa continued activating the costume lockers, "as I was saying, this time, it's entirely up to each of you whether or not you wear your costume. Some of your costumes are probably not adapted to the task at hand, after all. The training area is fairly far away, so we'll be going by bus. That's all. Go get prepared."

It didn't take long for there to be a problem, and with the usual culprits.

"YOU BASTARD!!!"

"Oh. Almost forgot I did that. You're welcome."

"That" was the current state of Bakugo's Grenadier Bracers. They were both mangled scrap and dripping with slime. And of course, Kai was the only one who would have done it, considering the mangling in question was clearly bite marks.

"WHY THE HELL WOULD I THANK YOU FOR THIS?!?" Bakugo screamed.

"Well, for one thing, they are heavy and c.u.mbersome. You'll be much more mobile during this exercise. Second, I wanted to be sure you wouldn't try to commit murder again. You're an opportunist. Lastly, you hate Quirkless people."

"What the f*** does that have to do with anything?"

"I asked the teachers about the support company that made our gear. I wanted to thank them for my gear and got their phone number. So, I call them, and get this nice lady on the line. Apparently, she worked on a lot of the technical stuff in the class' gear. Turns out, she's Quirkless! Brilliant engineer, but since you hate people like her, I figured you wouldn't want it anymore. A favor for her, too. After all, demanding a service while degrading the people who give it to you is basically slavery.

"While I'm telling you about that," Kai grinned widely, "I suppose that I really should mention that this is also why you've been having trouble at convenience stores along your route home."

It's not like it was hard to do, as long as he was willing to have a changeling or two roaming about town. Changing them into Bakugo and causing minor inconveniences and overall being nuisances was enough to get them tired of his face.

Suddenly, a lot of things from the past couple of days made a lot more sense to Bakugo, who was somehow filled with even more rage.

"YOU-"

"Race you all to the bus!" Kai shouted and ran out the door before anyone could react. This was not the ideal situation to fight Bakugo, even if he was easy to deal with. As soon as he was rounded the corner into the hall, he summoned changelings as he ran to scatter off to different parts of the school and make sure he had time to find a place to change.

So, by bypassing the changing rooms altogether, he was able to avoid dealing with Bakugo and be the first one to the bus.

"Took you guys long enough," Kai said as he waved to everyone.

"How are you here? You didn't even go to the changing room!" Deku shouted, surprised. If he hadn't changed there, where did he change?

"I just went directly here. I can get away with just changing my shirt," Kai said, stepping forward to display his legs, which were still in his uniform pants.

"Then where did you put your clothes?" Sero asked.

"A changeling is holding them." Kai summoned it back to show the case, then let the changeling take it back.

"Where do these guys come from, anyways?" Uraraka asked.

"Another dimension. Or universe. Whichever the right word is. Don't worry, you will never run into one without me around."

"I wonder what it's like?"

Kai was surprised by the question. He'd not really thought about it. It just never seemed important. It surprised him, really, that he hadn't even asked what their planet was like. Not to mention, she seemed like the most delicately minded girl in the class, so that she had gotten to the point of asking questions like this was very quick recovery on her part. He would have to reevaluate his perception of her.

He touched the side of the bus, summoned a changeling, and tossed it his phone. Then, he dismissed it, giving it instructions.

He wasn't able to retrieve it before Iida rushed everyone onto the bus. Everyone had a good laugh about how much of a fuss he had made about going in orderly when the bus's layout was different than he imagined. Then the conversation moved on and he forgot.

"Your Quirk reminds me of All Might's" was the line that pulled his attention away. Suddenly, he had to keep a poker face as he tried not to laugh. He had thought the same thing as everyone else. He just noticed more than them.

Kai was sitting in the back with Todoroki when he overheard that from the front of the bus. He had to cover himself by coughing.

Unfortunately, it sounded as fake as it was, Bakugo was sitting right in front of him, and he took it as an insult.

"You laughing at me?"

"No, no, it's something else entirely," Kai said a bit sheepishly. This time, he really didn't mean it. "Though you do seem funny right now. You need to work on that pride of yours. Your anger makes you really, really predictable."

Bakugo was building up steam when Asui's voice came from the front.

"Bakugo's always fuming, so he won't be very popular," she calmly stated as a matter of fact.

"Thank you, Asui-san!" Kai called up.

"You bastards! I'll be popular too!!"

"It's only been a brief while since our socialization has commenced and yet already we have been made apodictically cognizant of your personality, redolent as it is of a turd getting steamed in a sewer!" Kaminari, of all people, said.

"HUH!?! WHAT THE HELL KINDA WORDS ARE THOSE!?! I'LL KILL YOU!!"

"Ha! Splendid, Kaminari!" Kai applauded both his vocabulary and boldness. "Indubitably so! Now, Bakago, my good man, if you would please reseat yourself! Thou art being a vociferous exasperation upon the resplendent lady adjacent to you!" Kai grabbed his collar and yanked him back into his seat so that he wasn't leaning over Jiro, who had gotten caught in the middle.

Everyone had a good laugh, except Bakugo of course, and Aizawa called for their attention.

They had arrived.
