My Two Dads

Chapter 12.1

Yang Mo let Yang Han return to class first as Xu Jia went to change her clothes.

He slowly went downstairs, paced to the parking lot and glanced at a black Porsche not far away from him. Yue Qi Mo was talking on the phone inside but Yang Mo couldn’t hear what he was saying.

He glanced his way, saw Yang Mo’s civilian-priced ordinary car and looked away with contempt.

Yang Mo didn’t drive to work today. When he received a call from the homeroom teacher, he was in a rush so he could only borrow the enthusiastic security guard’s car and rushed over.

He got inside the car, placed his hand on the steering wheel and dialled Han Shi Yu’s phone number.

Han Shi Yu picked up but before he could say anything, Yang Mo said, “Come back immediately.”

Han Shi Yu was silent for three seconds, thinking his ‘playing-hard-to-get’ trick finally worked as he replied with a tone that couldn’t quite hide his excitement. “Did you miss me?”

“Our daughter got beaten by someone.” Yang Mo tapped his fingers slowly on the steering wheel and said.

Han Shi Yu brought a return flight ticket home that day.

In the first year of high school, there was no class divisions yet as there were many compulsory subjects to take. The last two classes were political science and they were asked to solve questions in class.

Yang Han was distracted and couldn’t continue answering after writing down the title.

Xu Jia listened obediently and changed back to her uniform pants. She glanced over at Yang Han, then poked her elbow a little.

Yang Han turned her head and saw Xu Jia handing her a note.

She unfolded the note and read what was written on it.

“Yang Yang, I’m really thankful to you!! You were so cool today! All hail the eldest princess!”

“Ahhhh your dad’s so cool I was going to cry then. I feel like crying now too.”

“Does your face still hurt? ╯﹏╰”

The corners of Yang Han’s mouths raised a little. She wrote back, “It’s fine,”

Xu Jia: “That jerk is really hateful…How can the school not punish him.”

Yang Han helplessly wrote: “I don’t know.”

Suddenly, Shang Xue who sat behind them poked her back.

Yang Han turned around as she saw Shang Xue pointing in the direction behind him. Yang Han looked up and her gaze met Lu Yue Ming’s.

Yang Han took the note, unfolded it and read it.

“Are you okay?”

AD

The writing was really clean and elegant.

Yang Han couldn’t tell the entire story on a note, so she only wanted to express her gratitude. Just as she was about to write back, ‘I’m okay, thank you.’, Shang Xue poked her again.

Yang Han: “?”

She received another note.

This time it came in the direction of Liu Zuo Ye.

She opened it carefully.

“How did that bunch of people treat you and Xu Jia? Is everything okay?”

The writing was very suave.

Yang Han knew that the basketball was thrown by Liu Zuo Ye. She was just about to reply with a ‘Thanks for helping me out.’.

Shang Xue poked her again.

Yang Han: “??”

Shang Xue pointed at Xu Jia, meaning to hand the note to her.

AD

Yang Han passed it to her and wrote down her unfinished words.

Shang Xue poked her yet again.

Yang Han: “???”

Shang Xue pointed at himself.

Yang Han took the note and unfolded it.

It read, “Don’t worry. I have 3000 followers on Weibo. I kept some evidence. I’ll help you fight back. Are you two okay?”

The writing looked as if it was chewed by a dog.

Fortunately, the political science teacher didn’t have the habit of making students read out the notes they pass around or confiscating them. She was even as generous as waiting patiently for Yang Han to finish replying to every single one, pass them back via the original route where they came from.

Xu Jia and Yang Han as well as the students who got their notes back were so embarrassed that wanted to bury themselves.

The political teacher didn’t say a word, only giving out an extra sheet of practice questions to the students who passed a note around.

After the incident this time, Xu Jia decided that it was better to follow the school rules and regulations in the future. So she hid her cell phone and took it home with her on the weekend, never taking it along with her anymore.

She was extremely reluctant to say goodbye to it that night.

AD

Xu Jia gave a little kiss on the phone screen.

Yang Han went to wash up.

After a while, Xu Jia: “……”

She shouted, “Yang Yang!!!!”

With toothpaste foam in her mouth, Yang Han looked at her and blurted out, “What is it?”

Xu Jia raised her head and said confusedly, “It got on Weibo hot trends.”

Yang Han: “???”

# Inappropriate remarks by Hai Ting’s executive #

Hot trend number 5 and it was still rising up.

When one clicked into this hot trend, the most striking top Weibo post was a video posted by an account.

It was a text video with a black screen. The audio quality was a little blurry so it came with subtitles.

The owner of the post captioned: “Sigh…This is the true character of a certain manager in Hai Ting and his son.”

AD

The person who posted this was Shang Xue.

He might had just wanted to do what he usually did: whenever he encountered upsetting matters, he would post it online to express his anger and indignation. But who could had expected it to blow up like this?

There were people asking whether it was true or not in the comments.

Shang Xue used fake names to substitute the students involved and Yue Qi Mo so that he could retell the story in an objective way.

It was illegal to seek out information about students on your own. But information on the management team of a company was transparent. An executive from Hai Ting with the surname ‘Yue’ was really easy to find.

The netizens exploded further.

Yue Kao’s personal account and the previous unethical things he had done were all exposed.

He seemed to feel really proud of it still, continuously provoking the netizens who rushed over to scold him. He said, “I helped Ji Xun earn money. The internet has no memory anyway, so stay jealous, you poor people.”

This matter was then directly pushed into the limelight.

Netizens first praised Xu Jia for her courage to stand up and resist. But of course, there were also some different voices.

Although the matter was not done by Yue Qi Mo, but he sided and protected his son and his words also had hints of sexism from time to time.

Angry netizens flooded Hai Ting Music’s official Weibo account, Ji Xun’s official Weibo account and called out the school as well. They demanded an explanation.

Digging deeper and associating everyone related to the incident had always been the most prominent characteristic of netizens. Although the effects were notable, it was also easy to go off track.

Just a few hours later, even without a clear investigation yet, the discussions had given birth to conspiracy theories, claiming that Ji Xun was planning to ignore this matter as a solution.

Ji Xun and Han Shi Yu’s accounts were bombarded. They were condemned for such a rotten behaviour.

In reality, if this incident had not been publicly exposed…private remarks of a manager would not lead to dismissal as long as they did not go over the limits set.

However, some people had claimed that if he wasn’t fired from his position, they would boycott Hai Ting Music, boycott the indecent man and boycott Ji Xun.

In a short amount of time, many commercial accounts and self-bloggers voiced out their thoughts. Some posted their serious comments and analyses while some simply wanted to get some clout out of it.

“Girls can dress up however they like. It’s not for you to see.”

“After being assaulted, she still had to be labelled as ‘having no self-respect’?? What era is this already? Yue Qi Mo is a slave who came from the Qing Dynasty, isn’t he? Not firing this kind of person, is Hai Ting planning to rebuild the country and restore the Qing Dynasty?”

“The little miss is really brave.”

“Truly, if the upper beam is not straight, the lower beam will be crooked too.”

“See, it’s the same thing all over again. It’s the ‘he’s still a child’ excuse. He’s a sexually-conscious high school student already. Only giving him verbal education after he did something wrong? What if the school isn’t aware when he commits it again?”

“Saying you guys don’t earn money at Ji Xun…Hah, you guys are earning rotten money again. Han Shi Yu, oh, Han Shi Yu.”

AD

The overwhelming number of public opinion, in which every person thinks they are playing the role of a righteous man and pushing the gears of society. Some indeed played a helping role while some only added hostility.

The official Weibo account posted, saying an investigation was underway so everyone was asked to stay calm and patient.

The school found Shang Xue’s account and the classroom teacher who was involved in this incident. They first sought out the evidence on the truth or falsity of the matter. Then, they investigated those fox-like friends of Yue Kao as well.

This group of friends couldn’t withstand the questioning and immediately admitted their discussion with Yue Kao on ‘creating some accidental encounter’.

The school was still very fair in how they handled things. They affirmed Shang Xue’s courage to speak up but also criticized him for bringing his phone to school and openly recording the situation.

But in view of the special circumstances, he was only given a normal point deduction and his phone was not confiscated.

“Every institution has its own way of handling things and procedures to follow. You can’t just depend on the media and public opinion to fight back,” The discipline teacher taught Shang Xue, “Report to the school first whenever something happens. If you can’t solve it then only turn to using the media.”

Shang Xue, who never expected such a big mess, hastily nodded.
