My Two Dads

Chapter 17.1

Chapter 17.1 - About University 2 Part 1

“Me? What’s there for me to talk about.” Han Shi Yu was in his study, with an English book in hand. He looked up at Yang Han who stood in front of him.

Although Yang Han did not really want to ask him, there was some information that she couldn’t pry out of Yang Mo no matter what, so she had no choice but to look for Han Shi Yu.

She hugged the bear plushie, pointed at the box of fruit candies on Han Shi Yu’s table and asked, “Can I have one?”

Han Shi Yu snatched it away and said, “No, your dad bought this for me. If you want one, ask him to buy some for you.”

Yang Han could hear the overflowing intent of flaunting in his words. “…..”

She rolled her eyes and said, “There are plenty in the nearby supermarket.”

Han Shi Yu: “If so, get your dad to buy them for you then.”

Yang Han wanted to retort but shook her head to wake herself up.

Why did she have to argue and fight with Han Shi Yu over Yang Mo’s favor like kindergarteners here?

She sucked in a deep breath and cut to the chase. “I actually wanted you to tell me about…what you and dad did in university.”

Han Shi Yu blatantly opened the box of candies and stuffed one in his mouth, raising an eyebrow at her, “What are you asking this for?”

Yang Han: “Because I think it’s almost like doing charity work for my dad to agree to dating you.”

Han Shi Yu shamelessly said, “He fell so deeply in love with me from the very first moment he saw me.”

Yang Han raised an eyebrow, coughed a few times before imitating Yang Mo’s tone, “’If you’re so capable, get up here and fight me then?! What kind of man yells from all the way down there, you wimp?!’”

She went back to her original tone and said again, “Did he fell in love with you like this?”

Han Shi Yu: “……”

He said, “How did you know.”

Yang Han: “My dad told me.”

Han Shi Yu: “Why are you still asking me if he already told you.”

Yang Han: “I wanted to know what those 800 words of praise you two wrote were.”

Half an hour had passed.

Yang Mo held his breath and grabbed the pen with ink that felt as heavy as a thousand pounds in his hands. After it touched the surface of the paper, he couldn’t find any will to move it.

The counsellor: “Yang Mo, you have poked two holes on the paper already.”

Yang Mo: “I don’t know how to write it.”

The counsellor readied his words, about to open his mouth to start lecturing him again. But on the other side, Han Shi Yu was already done with his 800 words of praise, holding it up and snapping his fingers like a storyteller. “Teacher, I’m done.”

Yang Mo: “……”

The counsellor who was watching him finish writing his masterpiece on the side put on a serious expression.

He said: “Read it out.”

Han Shi Yu starting reading out in very articulate pronunciation and a smooth tone—

“Once upon a time, fate was something that had nothing to do with us. I was at the east and you were at the west.”

“Later on, fate became the five accounts that you mercilessly killed. I am in the light, and you are in the darkness.”

“Now, fate is in the form of these two pieces of A4 paper that are big, white and square. I’m on this end, and you’re on the other end.”

The counsellor: “……”

Han Shi Yu finished reading the foreword and was about to move on to the body. He coughed a few times and continued, “The first time I saw you, I was attracted by your captivating beauty1 and adept technique of shouting at buildings.”

“I thought to myself, this is truly a white, untainted lotus flower that emerged out of the mud. Your calmness in front of the counsellor and the way you compose yourself. That expression of yours transcend normalcy, as if you only use non-stick pans to fry rice at home and freely throw charred pots2 to other people.”

Yang Mo: “……”

Full of emotions, Han Shi Yu continued again, “I gave it a lot of consideration. White lotuses are everywhere in this world, but it’s difficult to come across someone like you. After thinking deeply about it, I think I’m too ignorant and uncultured, unable to find the right words to praise your open-mindedness, righteous behavior, simplicity and elegance.”

“I believe this is probably what fairies are like from the legends, and as everyone know, intermarriage between fairies and mortals are against the rules of heaven. Ahh, only other fairies would be worthy of you, how could mortals ever come close…”

Yang Mo dropped his pen harshly and said, “Try insulting me any more than this??”

Han Shi Yu: “Teacher, he’s threatening me.”

The counsellor looked around the office, checking on the other counsellors’ reactions. He sucked in a deep breath, feeling a suffocated feeling in his chest that wouldn’t leave.

He said, “This is complete nonsense. Han Shi Yu, get out of here and rewrite it outside!”

Han Shi Yu felt wronged, “Teacher, the white lotus was really complimenting him–– Ah!”

Before he could finish his words, Yang Mo had rushed over to start another fight.

The counsellors instantly sobered up and stepped forward to stop them.

The counsellor yelled angrily: “Yang Mo!”

Some teachers returned after eating their suppers, passing by the office on the first floor and finding two tall boys squatting by the doorway together.

They immediately backed away after walking near them. They saw that the two of them were holding hands, with their faces pale from embarrassment and were laying paper on their knees to write a reflection report.

""

A physical education teacher was requested to watch them by the side too.

This type of human suffering was rarely seen in university, but because of the great achievements made by the two, it reappeared in this world.

The teachers who passed by: “……”

They silently walked away again.

This physical education teacher came back from playing basketball. When he passed by the office at first floor to get some water to drink, he happily agreed to help the counsellor out in watching over them out of sheer amusement aside from sitting and resting for a while.

As he watched their small gestures and actions, he would pretend to be fierce and reprimand them, “Tsk, why are you moving around? No loosening your grip.”

Han Shi Yu: “……”

Yang Mo: “……”

Han Shi Yu frowned at Yang Mo and said, “Can we change our position a little? I’ve been writing with my left hand for fifteen minutes already!”

Yang Mo’s anger flared up the moment he saw his face again. He glared back at him and impatiently said, “Is your skin fucking itching for a beating again?”

Han Shi Yu turned his head and said, “Teacher, he’s threatening me!”

Footnotes

This is mostly used to describe specifically a female beauty that causes fish to dive down and wild geese to alight. The charred pot here actually refers to ‘blame’, so he’s hinting that Yang Mo threw the blame on him.
