My Ultimate Ambition

The prime minister received the information with a mixture of happiness, anger and sadness. He was happy to finally get rid of an eyesore, angry that he couldn't watch the show himself and sad that it took him a long time to find her.

Crumpling the note in anger, he threw it into the burning fire and wrote another note. "Kill her". The bird went back for another errand to deliver the instruction.

The spies switched their role to assassins when they received the letter. It's been two days since the discovery and they can't wait to get done with the mission and go back to the capital.

The leader of the assassins gather her men and gave out an instruction on how to go about it. She narrated that there might be obstacle if they blindly attack at night. They needed a strategy to execute their mission. After listing down the routes of exits in case of emergency, the dangers ahead and the plans , they dispersed to their hideout to await nightfall.

The prime minister considered the mission executed and accomplished and moved on to the next scheme. The empress mother ordered him to find a reason to make her head the entire selection process without damaging the crown prince's reputation and playing favoritism. If he fails, he's afraid he will have to play dirty to get the crown princess seat for his daughter.

As for Seo-yun, she has already considered herself the crown princess. She's just waiting for the selection process as a formality. According to her mindset, she's the only one worthy of the crown and she's planning her grand entrance and things to take with her.

One day, when Eun-hye visited her, she indirectly indicated that soon she won't be able to visit always as she will be faraway. Eun-hye thought she was going for a long vacation and promised to visit her wherever she goes which brought a smile to Seo-yun's face.

In this era, there are scholars called sungkyunkwan scholars whose petitions are never denied or rejected as long as it is righteous and with a good conviction. They don't favor any political party and are claimed to be unbiased in their judgements.

The sungkyunkwan scholars received an anonymous letter which asked for a rally petition to allow the empress mother head the next selection process.

The letter stated that only a true empress can enthrone the next one. The letter listed the good attributes of the present empress who should have the right to choose someone as virtuous as her.

The history of previous empresses who were enthroned by their husband but later failed in their duties were recalled and stated . The present empress dowager was charged with the sin of infertility and it was emphasized that if the previous empress had made the selection, a barren empress wouldn't have been enthroned.

Some of the scholars agreed and penned down their petition to the emperor, while some saw it as a strong political move by someone that stands to benefit alot if someone he wants is enthroned and desisted from getting involved.

"Schemers, they want to use us for their political games". A very angry scholar who saw through the lies couldn't help but voice out.

"Shh! someone might hear and misjudge you". The friend rebuked but the man snorted.

"So what if they hear. I said the truth". The man shouted. The shocked friend dragged him away to the nearest room while covering his mouth with his palm to prevent his friend from causing trouble for himself.

The empress roared with laughter when she received the information about the petition.

"They called the old hag infertile!"

The palace maids watching and listening to their mistress loud laughter couldn't help but pity the dowager.

The empress wiped off the tears flowing down from the corner of her eyes and smiled. The prime minister seemed capable. He not only paved way for her, he also hyped her characters thereby giving no room for the emperor to refute.

She smiled when she remembers that she will be the one choosing her son's bride. With this power within her reach, she will enthrone her favorite person and choose only the girl with the best power and status to match the Phoenix crown.

The cries of your Majesty filled the air with the sounds of running feet towards the slumped empress dowager.

"Get the doctor!". Her chief maid shouted while holding up her mistress from the ground.

The crown prince received the news calmly without displaying any emotions which scared his chief eunuch and attendants.

The only thing he did was to pick a brush and paper to write. After writing, he called a person's name and asked that the letter be delivered to him.

"Choi sang-min... you want to play with conviction? I will give you the best play then".

He silently went back to his work, calmly writing his opinions on the task his father gave him , looking like someone not interested in the affairs of the world.

At the dragon palace, the emperor was shaking with anger at the turn of events. He knows the people involved but he can't do anything about him.

He wants his son to marry whoever he chooses not who is chosen for him , but right now, it seems things won't go according to plan.

Pacing around in his quarters, he expectantly waited for the crown prince to show up and ask him to reject the petition of the scholars eventhough for the sake of the record he won't agree, but he never came.

"Seja... what are you up to?".

Smiling at himself for unnecessary panic, he went into his study room and wrote down something.

If he's right then it means that child already has a solution.

The scholar whose name was Baek-soon received the letter boldly written, confidential.

He tore open the waxy seal and read the content. Whatever it is he read brought smiles to his face.

The letter was snatched by his friend who couldn't contain his curiosity any longer upon seeing the spring look on his friend's face.

Reading the content , he unbelievably asked his friend if it will work but the man laughed out loud.

"How will you know if it will work if we don't give it a try". He jested.

The letter was immediately burned with a candle while the two men gathered their fellow brothers in faith to write their own petition to the emperor. If things work out well, they will be recognized by their patriotism.
