My Unexpected Marriage

Zeus saw anger in her eyes and he smirked.

"Zeus, can you answer my questions or should I try to find everything by myself?" She said again while controlling her anger.

Zeus stood from where he was sitting and walked towards the glassed wall and stood there looking outside.

"Shanell, I know you are angry about what you heard." He said without facing her.

"Yes Zeus, I am angry and honestly I don't know how long I can control it. So please tell me did you really know about the arranged marriage between us earlier?" Shanell asked him, while she stood from the couch and started walking towards him.

"Yes" Zeus answered in one word.

Shanell felt some sharp pain in her heart. She wished it to be false. But when she heard the word from Zeus, tears welled in her eyes. She tried hard to control it and asked Zeus again.

"So it is just business collaboration and for that you are willing to marry me...? And what was the reason for not having any girlfriend?"

Zeus could hear her voice being cracking while asking him that question. He felt terrible for lying. He understood that it is genuinely hard for him to lie to her. So he chose his every word carefully.

"I never felt any special feelings to anyone. So I didn't have a girlfriend. And about marriage, it is undoubtedly business collaboration. It will give both of our companies' profit."

Zeus turned around to face her then said.

Hearing it Shanell's strength just left her body. She couldn't feel her legs and tears gave her away. She lost her balance and Zeus saw her soulless body falling. He caught her before she fell on the floor, and he helped her to sit on the couch.

"Shan..." Zeus called her name but her only reaction was crying uncontrollably. Shanell tried her best to stop her tears but it was a failed attempt. She felt ashamed for crying in front of him.

Zeus was helpless he cursed himself in his mind for being harsh towards her. He even thought about telling everything to her but still decided not to tell, because it will only make the situation worse now.

"Sorry I have to go." After a few minutes Shanell controlled her tears and said to Zeus and stood up from her seat then turned around to leave.

Suddenly she felt her hand was grabbed by Zeus. She turned to say to let her go. But she was stunned seeing Zeus on his knees while keeping his head down and grabbing her hand.

"I am sorry Shan. I lied to you but please give me a chance to prove myself. Please don't leave me."

Seeing this side of Zeus was truly a shock for Shanell. She didn't know what to say. She looked at him in surprise.

"Shan I admit that I knew about our marriage earlier and I didn't tell you about it yesterday. But trust me I was not lying to you I will explain everything to you, but not today."

"Why can't you tell me everything today, Zeus? I have so many doubts now and why can't you clear my doubts? You and everyone around me kept this secret for years why can't I know about my own marriage? Tell me Zeus, why did everyone hide this from me?"Shanell asked furiously. She completely forgot everything around her and whom she is talking to.

"Shan we didn't want to hide it from you but it happened, so please let the past be past. I will explain it to you when the time is right, please trust me and give a chance to me." Zeus literally pleaded to her.

Shanell started to think about it, few minutes later she said.

"Okay I will give you another chance. But you have to tell me everything before it's too late. And also promise me you will never keep any secret from me and never ever break my trust again."

When he heard her words Zeus felt relieved, and he stood up and said.

"I promise I will never keep secret from you and never break your trust in me and also never hurt you neither let anyone hurt you."

"Okay, then I forgives you this time for keeping secrets from me."

Zeus took her hands in his hand and said.

"I will tell you everything and it won't be long from now."

Shanell nodded her head and said.

"I trust you now. (She paused for a second) Okay then I is leaving now."

"Shan wait; there is something else I want to tell you."

Zeus said and Shanell looked at him questioningly.

"Today I had a meeting with your dad and I asked him about the things I promised you."

Shanell's eyes sparkled with curiosity to know what her dad said to him.

"Dad agreed to send you to Medical school on a condition."

"What is the condition?" Shanell asked in curiosity.

"Condition is that you have to prove to him that you can handle business even if you don't go to a business school." He said calmly.

"I am confident in it but how am I supposed to do that?"Shanell asked.

"I have a solution for that."

"What is it? Tell me..."

She asked eagerly to hear what is the solution?

"You have to work as my secretary till your birthday. This means you have two months to prove yourself as an efficient business woman."

"What? I have to work as your secretary for two months? Why do I feel like I am going to be in a trap set by my dad and you?"

Her words struck Zeus's weak point. His expression changed. His aura took a massive alteration. She noticed it and it gives a chill down her spine. She thought how a person can change so fast. But to maintain the peaceful atmosphere she said.

"Okay I agree to it."

"You can ask Lisa for more details." He said.

The caring Zeus is gone and now it is the Cold hearted Devil speaking, Shanell thought to herself and said goodbye to him then left the room.
