The girl who had once relied on him and looked forward to their future was no longer there.  Now, she even yearns to spend the second half of her life with another man.

The light in Lu Liting’s eyes gradually faded and the grip on Ji Qingqing gradually loosened little by little.

Someone suddenly coughed near the corridor. Ji Qingqing was slightly startled and quickly shook Lu Liting’s hand away.

Is it Lu Liting?

Lu Lixing was really there at the corner of the corridor.

It’s over. Did he see them? Did he hear what Lu Liting said?

Ji Qingqing smiled softly and rushed over. She then hugged Lu Lixing’s hand and pulled him away.

Well, It’s pointless to entangle with him any longer. It wasn’t even worth it in the first place.

Lu Lixing’s hand has only recently recovered. What should she do if they fight and his wound worsens again?

“Husband, I’m sleepy. Let’s go to bed.”

Lu Lixing lowered his head and raised his eyebrows as he looked at her. “It’s only nine o’clock…”

“But I’m so sleepy!”

Lu Lixing didn’t say much. He only turned around and gave Lu Liting a warning look when Ji Qingqing wasn’t looking.

Lu Liting remained motionless as he stood there in a daze.

He only recovered after the backs of Lu Lixing and Ji Qingqing disappeared down the corridor.

He then looked at his hand that had just grasped Ji Qingqing.

The warmth from earlier was still there, but he knew that there would be no more chances for them to patch things up.

***

Ji Qingqing, who usually fell asleep as soon as she lay down on the bed, couldn’t sleep that night.

Lu Liting’s words raced back and forth in her mind.

——If you had confessed everything to me and trusted me…

Confess?

Ji Qingqing suddenly remembered her secret.

She actually was planning to tell Lu Lixing that the woman he was about to marry was not “Ji Qingqing.” She also wanted to reveal to him her true identity to him as well as her past. But she was unable to do so every time she tried.

Lu Lixing won’t believe this kind of thing, right?

Even the mere thought of it kept her on her toes.*

T/N: In this case, it means the idea of Lu Lixing negatively reacting to her confession keeps her bothered and preoccupied.

Lu Lixing holds a master’s degree from a prestigious university and believes in science. Where could he possibly believe such a ridiculous thing?

I wouldn’t believe it myself, let alone Lu Lixing. If I told him that, he’d probably look at me as if I were crazy.

Forget it, l’ll talk it over with him later.

She turned over sideways and closed her eyes as she forced herself to stop overthinking about it.

However, just as Ji Qingqing rolled over, Lu Lixing opened his eyes.

——“Has the host ever thought about confessing this matter?”

Lu Lixing did not communicate with the system.

——”In fact, Lu Liting is correct. The most important thing between couples is honesty, which is especially important for you because you are about to marry. You should learn to trust her completely.”

Lu Lixing responded while looking at the top of Ji Qingqing’s head, “But even if I said it, she wouldn’t believe it.”

——“You haven’t tried it yet, so how can you tell that she won’t believe it?”

Lu Lixing closed his eyes. How could she believe such a ridiculous thing?

——”Or, do you want to lie to her for the rest of your life?”

Lu Lixing frowned.

——“The confession was originally a task that was given to you, but the decision on whether to accomplish it or not is now left to you. If you do confess, your health will increase. But even if you don’t confess, your life won’t be threatened. So it is up to you to decide.”

As he mulled over what the system said, Lu Lixing rolled over and slept with his back facing Ji Qingqing.

Yet, when late night came, the two were still unable to fall asleep. They finally couldn’t help it and turned over at the same time, facing each other.

“There is something I want to tell you.”

Both spoke in unison.

Ji Qingqing said, “What’s the matter?”

Lu Lixing said, “What’s the matter?”

“…you say it first!”

“…you say it first!”

The two tacitly remained silent.

After a long silence, Ji Qingqing whispered softly, “You also couldn’t sleep because you wanted to tell me something, right?”

“Hmm.”

“The thing you wanted to tell me… is it important?”

“It’s very important.”

The two silently faced each other.

Ji Qinqing hesitantly tried to tell Lu Lixing about the matters in her heart. However, she was still unable to confess.

She reflected, After telling him my secret, maybe I won’t be able to peacefully sleep at night.

They might as well have a good sleep first before facing it at once!

“Let’s get to bed first. Let us just say what needs to be said tomorrow. What do you think?”

“Okay, let’s just talk about it tomorrow.”

The two exchanged smiles then turned over and laid flat on the bed and closed their eyes.

Ten minutes later, Lu Lixing felt a gentle long breath near him. Ji Qingqing easily* came up to him with her eyes shut. Lu Lixing stretched out his hand and gently took Ji Qingqing, who was sound asleep, into his arms.
