My World Now

Chapter 13 - The Lone Traveler

The cart goes smoothly over the rough yellow dirt road with the help of air crystals that work like shocks. There are earth crystals embedded in the wheels to stop dirt from building up and making it hard for the Raybacks. Also Wizzal has added his float crystals that make the load lighter.

The Partma(Llama) can be heard honking from the back of the cart. This whole world looks like someone took a paint brush and colored the world wrong. I stop the cart as I hear something that sounds like thunder coming this way. I get some scent crystals from my bag and toss some in the wagon. I then jump down from the cart and hold the Raybacks steady.

Llama starts making a ruckus at the back of the cart but I ignore him I can't be two places at once and making sure these guys don't bolt is more important. It doesn't take long till I can see some orange colored long legged animals coming over the hills. Thousands of them start to pass by. They part when they get to where the scent crystals can be smelled. The very ground shakes as the antelope like creatures rush by and down over the next hill.

Once they pass I wait a little longer. A few stragglers can be seen coming over the hills followed by five large stripped dogs.(Zorgs) When they get close enough I use my thread to capture three and watch as the Zorgs take down one of the creatures. I hook the Slyma as they are called to the back of the wagon with Llama. Then give the wild eyed Llama a treat and a pet to calm him.

I climb into the wagon and watch the Zorgs for awhile as I think, "My hunger like these Zorgs doesn't come from DNA as I've been thinking. DNA is found through out the body. So if it was then blood or any part of the body would work to get what I d.e.s.i.r.e. There are certain cells that can only be found in the brain, hmmmm." I shake my head to come back to the present and head down the road. The Slyma make a fuss as we get a little closer to the Zorgs. They ignore us as we head down the road.

A little before dark I find a field and pull into it for the night. I setup a perimeter of crystals and release the Raybacks and Llama into the field. They happily go about eating grass. I look over at the Slyma I've left hooked to the wagon and click my tongue I'm unsure what I'll do with them it was just an opportunity so I took it.

I head into the woods to collect enough fire wood for the night. Once I collect enough I start the fire and sit there watching the fire crackle for awhile. I stopped so the animals could rest, I've no clue what to do with a fire now that I've made it. Most the time people sit around it cooking food, laughing and enjoying its warmth I pass my hand through the fire. "I don't need the light or warmth anymore, I don't even need to cook my food or need it for protection. "I guess I was feeling sad. Meaning this will be a night of those stupid memories."

I take out a pot from my storage and throw some meat and veges in it with some water, and a few herbs. I hang it above the fire thinking, "I can always eat it some other day. Just a feeling but I feel like cooking something tonight."

The smell of cooked food fills the air. As I stir the food I hear footsteps coming down the nearby road. I check my appearance and make sure I look like a Florensin in every way and pull a bowl and wooden spoon I made out of the Void bag. After setting them beside me I set there stirring the pot.

It doesn't take long for the footsteps to turn towards me and a voice to come out of the darkness. "Mind if I join you?" I smile at the figure and take a good look before I answer. He has a cape over his head, with a greyish green skin. A simple grey shirt and orange pants. With a large bag over his shoulder. He appears to be a Limpit, a race of creatures that have an earth affinity.

I lick my lips as I say, "Not at all, come on in." Lucky for him I've spent the last few years getting my hunger or urges under control and I already have an earth affinity. He comes into the light and says, "How lucky is this. It can be hard finding a safe place for the night once you leave the towns and cities, and to find such a nice companion to spend it with. I can clearly smell the Lizeli flowers, but can't find them. My name is Zark."

I smile and say, "Oh is it? I wouldn't know I haven't left my village to long ago. I'm Lizeli" He looks at me in surprise and smiles saying, "It's rare seeing a Florensin out of the caves, and a women no less. What has brought you so far from your home?" I look down at the food I have cooking and say, "I have a wagon full of herbs and other goods to sell. I'm also a capable women that's why I was chosen."

He shakes his head smiles and says, "It must be so," he looks at the wagon. We can see the Slyma at the edge of the fires light and hear the Raybacks in the night. He looks back to the fire and his stomach growls, I laugh and say, "Sorry I only have the one bowl." He smiles as he pulls a bowl out of his bag saying, "If you wouldn't mind sharing I have one." I laugh again as I take his bowl and he starts telling me about his people.

He doesn't appear to realize that I barely touch my food as he has three bowls. Laying back he sighs. "That was really good. Where are you heading?" I point down the road and he asks, "Mind if I join you? I'm heading to Azar two towns over." I look at him as I head back to the wagon and say, "That would be fine." I act like I'm pawing through the wagon and pull my hammock from my Void bag. Then hang it from a tree in the field to the wagon. I climb in and pretend to go to sleep.

Once I know he is asleep I pull a crystal from my bag and toss it over to him and get out to look through the wagon. The sleep crystal will keep him asleep but can't put him asleep. I start to look through the wagon.

Supplies - for sale, check

Weapons - I pull some out of the Void bag and place them in the bottom of the wagon, check.

Food to eat - I take out a basket and fill it with roots, dried meat, even some bread I got from the Village as well as some fruits and berries, check.

I get out blankets and a pillow as well as a mat stuffed with fluff That I roll up and tie. Looking down at myself I will my dress to become yellow pants and a grey top. The shoes become boots and I tuck a knife in the boot. I take a sword and sheath out of my Void bag and strap it to my back. I walk over to Zark and pick up the crystal. I reach towards him and stop pulling my hand back I head back to my hammock and climb in. I look up at the sky thinking, "Not yet." I lay for awhile then look over at Zark, "At least I no longer feel plagued by memories this night."
