My World Now

Chapter 41 - Assassin

I emerge in the field in the woods. As soon as I appear I can feel someone standing in back of me. I smile as I turn around and see him. His skin is white and his hair is white. He is thin and tall with pointy ears. He dresses in orange with a long sleeve shirt. His belt is a thin silver ribbon like material that streams down his t.h.i.g.h about a foot.

I get a closer look at the belt from last time and can see it's like a thin chain made to wrap around someone's neck made to look like a simple belt. I reach out my hand and he passes me my bag he is holding. My smile gets bigger as I turn away and say, "Have you made a decision yet?" I take the first Rayback by the lead and remove the blindfold. As I'm leading it to the wagon he asks, "How did you, the Raybacks and the wagon come out of that bag?"

I keep smiling as I hook the Rayback to the wagon and say, "Magic, if you want to learn more you will have to pledge your loyalty to me. What's your name?" I give the straps around the Raybacks c.h.e.s.t one last pull and walk over to get the other Rayback. Fuma makes a happy moo like cow sound when I remove the blindfold and happily follows me to the wagon. As I'm hooking her up the wagon. He says, "Tortunk."

I think back to two years ago on the outskirts of the town of Azar.....

"Help please help me." I'm standing in a run down street I'd taken a short cut through the slums to get back to the dorms before curfew. The streets are dark and I can see my breath in the cold night air. I look like a human with my yellow skin and green hair. I turn towards a side alley and hear the voice again, "Please someone! Anyone help me." I can hear the sound of gasping followed by gagging and the laughter of men.

I head down the dark alley on the right are crates and on the left are pallets with clothe bags on them. I can smell the scent of rotting fruits and vegetables from them. The closer I get the louder the laughter. A voice can be heard now, "Stupid b*tch thought she could steal from us. Look at her now. Hahahaha dead." I hear a thump and then shapes of the men come into view. "Sh*t man you weren't supposed to kill her. She could have made us money. Now we need to get rid of dead weight."

Laughter can be heard again. The one with his back to me is tall and has broad shoulders. The other two appear to be thin and lean. He laughs again and says, "She was dead anyway stupid pick pocket just didn't know it yet." I can see the small form of a figure with long white hair on the ground. She appears to be very thin and the wrist I can see is tiny.

I smile as I slip through the shadows coming up behind the tall broad shouldered human. He is a big guy with a well developed upper body and a small waist. His upper legs are pushing his skinny blue pants like they are gonna burst. He has on a red tank top. It looks good on his orange skin and blue hair. I look down at his tight b.u.t.t and smile. I change my hand to normal. I watch as my fingernails start to turn to claws. I look back at his a.s.s.

I drive my hand into his back and out through his c.h.e.s.t. I say, "Nice a.s.s." As he falls to the cold dirt ground. The two men look shocked as they stare at me. I smile as I remove my hand from his back. He slides to the ground. The other men start backing up and in a few feet they come to the orange stone wall. I look up to the bright moons and say, "You both have to die. I didn't change me form. It's to bad that you are both humans." With that I lick my fingers.

The man on the right starts screaming as he takes out a knife and starts coming at me. I let loss two fireballs one back to back as his scream turns into one of agony and is joined with the other mans voice. I look down at the young girl. She appears to be about 12 years old and has white skin and white hair with pointy ears. I smile as I say, "Can't let you two fools mess with my wonderful Toram I have here now can I?" With that I turn her onto her back and smile even bigger as I reach towards her head.

...

I pull myself back to the present. I smile at him and climb onto the wagon. I look down at him and say, "Tortunk, What is your decision?" He looks up at me with a thoughtful look on his face as he says, "I'm curious what your plans are so I'll be your servant."

With that he falls to his knee and bows his head saying, "From this day forth you will be my master and

I will be your blade. Ask what you will of me and do what you want with me. My life is yours to do with as you please." I look at him for a few minutes and nod. I tap the seat next to me. After he climbs up we pull forward and head down the twisted trail through the trees and back to the road.

As soon as we get to the road I head towards the village in the early morning sun. I smile as the village walls come into sight. Two guards lean against the side walls talking to each other about the strange activity of last nights beasts.

I pull the Raybacks to a stop in front of the gates. The guy who walks towards me is named Thatus. He is a fit man in his late 40s with orange skin and blue hair. As he walks towards us his smile gets bigger and bigger. He looks excited like he can barely contain himself. I smile and say, "Thatus where have you been? I haven't seen you in over three months. How is the wife and baby coming along."

His smile looks like it's gonna split his face as he says, "Runta is fine and it's a girl. I've named her Thanta. She is the cutest. Once she is old enough I'll bring her out to see everyone. I'm looking for a nature mage so I can get a memory wood made of her." I smile back at him as I say, "congratulations! You are gonna have to take care of yourself now that you have another mouth to feed. No more dangerous quests." He chuckles as he walks to the back to inspect the empty wagon.

After that he steps to the side raises his hand and makes a forward movement. With that the second guard a tall man with yellow skin and green hair opens the gate. He is fit as well but has a small stomach. As we pass by I nod my head and say, "Zark you need to watch those sweets your girlfriend keeps slipping you it's starting to show. It's not a good look for a soldier."

A look of embarrassment and surprise cover his face as we pass through the gates. I hear the gates close behind me and a ruckus from the town square heading this way. I head through the streets towards my house where Tatsa should be waiting.

I pull up to the small orange stone house and Tatsa comes out pulling a large orange clothe bag behind her. She smiles as she struggles along. I laugh and jump down. Tortunk follows suit and we help her load the five large bags she has into the wagon. I lock the door and property with a spell and we all climb into the wagon.

I snap the reins and the Raybacks head towards the main gate. Once there we see a small crowd of about twenty soldiers waiting around the gate. A man with short greasy looking hair that sticks out at all angles stands with them. His pants are blue and his shirt is off white. He looks like he slept in his clothes. His skin is orange and his hair is lite green. I chuckle softly as I recognize him as the man from the Alchemy shop. He looks angry his orange face almost looks completely red as his eyes fall on me and my cart.

"Was it You?" he screams as he stomps towards me and my wagon. I look surprised as I watch him coming closer. I pull on the reins and the Raybacks come to a stop. He stops next to me and yells, "My gonna search through this whole wagon myself and find what was stolen from me. You can't hide it." His eyes fall on Tortunk, "I've never seen you. Give me back my stuff thief." The guard to his left looks frustrated as he says, "Now Mork you can't go accusing people just cause you don't know them.

The gate guards just said they let Lizeli and her helper in the gates with an empty wagon not even fifteen minutes ago. Even if they did steal your stuff you can't just go blaming the town hero. Plus they didn't have enough time to load all the stuff in the wagon." "Thieves! That what they. What do they need a empty wagon for. Just cause she is a hero I'm not gonna let her get away with it." He storms to the back of the wagon followed by four soldiers.

He starts climbing into the wagon and gets one leg over the back board before two of the guards start pulling him down. "You can't just start looking through other people's stuff." The guard turns to me and says, "Lizeli do you mind?" I smile and say, "I have nothing to hide. Tatsa it's your stuff do you mind?" She looks scared then jumps in the back and grabs a small bag. As she squeaks, "You can look at the rest." The guards climb in and start pulling clothes and books from the bags. Tatsa looks embarrassed as she holds onto the small bag.

Once they went through everything the guards peak out of the back and say, "We found nothing." Mork rips his arms out of the guards grip and steps up to the wagon. He looks around the wagon then yells, "What's that?" He points and one of the guards looks where he is pointing. Under the seats I'm sitting on there is a small pink crystal tied under the seat to a string. The crystal swings slightly back and forth. The guard looks at the crystal and says, "Looks like it's been tied here for years. Lizeli what is this weird crystal for?" I smile and say, "It's just an old experiment."

As he looks at it he says, "I've never seen a pink crystal before what is it supposed to do?" I look at him and think about the swirling pink scent crystal as a say, "I can't remember?" He shakes his head. With that they climb out of the wagon and Mork looks like he is about to explode. Tatsa leans out the back of the wagon holding her small bag to her c.h.e.s.t as she says, "A-A-Are we done?" The guard nods at her as Mork with a glint in his eyes grabs the small bag from her hand. The guards try to get it from him as he says, "I bet she has hidden a few of my items in here."

With that the small bag opens and clean cotton flies everywhere. With cloth and a long string." When it falls to the ground everyone just stares. Her face turns best red. She hides in the wagon as all the men look embarrassed. The closest man picks up the cloth and string as he puts it back in the bag. He swallows as he stiffly walks back to the wagon. He holds the bag out his face turning redder by the minute as he says, "I'll go see my wife about more cotton."

Tatsa's hand shoots out of the wagon as she grabs the bag and cries out, "Don't bother." With that the gates open and we head through." I can here Tatsa crying in embarrassment as she organizes her bags once again. We head towards the town of Azar and over the soft rising on falling of the hills.
