Mysteries of the Earthsea

Chapter 4: Frey Cult

Holding the echo banknotes in both hands, John, with a gratifying face, turned around to leave, but he opened the door just to leave, and then turned around embarrassed after thinking for a while.

Looking at the figure intertwined between light and darkness behind him, he hesitated to speak.

"Captain, I'm leaving too. To tell the truth, you should also go ashore, if you save enough money to buy an exploration ship, what can you do? The Land of Light does not exist."

"existing."

Charles has a calm tone, but his eyes are firm.

"A thing bigger than an island hangs in the air, selflessly providing us with light and warmth, and dispelling the darkness, how is this possible? It is all made up by the God of Light to deceive people."

Seeing Charles being silent, Old John sighed and continued to persuade him: "When I first saw you, although you couldn't even speak, you were so energetic, so cheerful and confident. I thought so well. Boy, if I have a granddaughter, I will definitely introduce it to you."

"You don't have to lie to me, I know you have heard the voice of the gods for many days, if you continue like this, you will really become a lunatic, give up."

The expressionless Charles walked to the door and closed the door with a "touch".

"Child, you are too persistent." John's footsteps slowly faded away, and calm returned to the door.

"Am I too persistent?" Charles muttered to himself against the door, his expression slowly twisting.

"What's wrong with I want to go back?" Charles suddenly shouted with a painful expression.

"I have never done anything to commit crimes and crimes!! Why did this kind of thing fall on me! Why!!"

"Eight years!!! Eight full years!!! Why do I suffer this kind of torture!! I just want to go home!!!" Charles roared.

"gluimglw......na......" The whisper in the ear sounded again, which made people very irritable.

"I'm g your mother!!" In a rage, he directly took out a pistol and pressed it against his temple.

Just as the trembling finger was about to pull the trigger, the neighbor’s dull protest sounded from the wall next to it

"What is the noise!! Give me a little noise!!"

Excited Charles suddenly fell silent. He inserted the pistol back to his waist, picked up a piece of cloth and carefully wrapped the wooden knife in his hand.

Charles had a lot of dreams that night, but when he woke up again, he didn't remember anything.

"Chuckchchuck." The door was knocked again.

After Charles opened the door, he found that standing in front of him was a bald head with an octopus tentacle tattoo on his face.

"Is it Captain Charles of the Mouse? My name is Hook. Please take care of me when we meet for the first time."

Charles looked up and down vigilantly at the guy in front of him, his face was very popular, with deformed ears bent inward, representing that he was a native of the Coral Islands, and the octopus tentacles on his face proved his belief.

"What can the followers of Futan want to do with me? Don't you want to give me to your Almighty God, right?"

Feeling the hostility between Charles's words, the hook is not angry at all.

"If you want to be a sacrificial offering to the mighty, you may not be qualified. I asked you for other things, Captain Charles. I heard that you are short of money, right?"

Charles is not surprised, this guy in front of him is not the first time he has found him.

"I don't smuggle contraband." Charles closed the door when he finished.

In fact, he lied. As long as the benefits are sufficient, he sometimes smuggles. He decisively refuses but does not want to have too much contact with these cults.

The only difference between Futan believers and the lunatics on the street is that they can speak normally. Normal people would not regard the monsters in the seabed as gods.

Just as the door was about to close, Charles suddenly heard a number floating at the door. "One million echoes."

Looking at the black pupils in the crack of the door, a confident smile appeared on the bald hook's face.

"Mr. Charles, these remunerations can completely fill up your funding gap and allow you to buy a top-level exploration ship. Think about it. As long as you explore a new island, you will own your own land and become a new one. The Governor of the island, the Echo Coins that women have inexhaustible power will be yours."

Charles didn't know where these guys knew their purpose, but he was a little moved. With so much money, he would take a big step back home.

He did not relax his vigilance. The Fultan Cult is not a charity organization. The huge rewards must be extremely dangerous.

"What are you smuggling?" Charles asked vigilantly.

"It's not that you are asking you to smuggle goods, and you are asking you to help us find things. Please come with me, and our high priest will explain the details to you."

Charles thought for a few seconds, opened the door and followed out.

The two walked out of the port area, through the port area full of fishy smell, and walked towards the residential area on the island.

The residential area on the main coral island is less chaotic and a bit more popular. If there is no gray-white coral architecture, Charles seems to be walking on the streets of London in the middle of the 18th century.

Banks, hospitals, clothing stores, theaters, and various modern facilities are available on the island. If it weren't for people's deformed ears and pale skin, everything would be so normal.

An island is equivalent to a city, and the streets are very lively. From the clothes on them, you can see that there are poor and rich people, and everyone is busy with their own affairs.

"Roasted spider crab legs, each one only costs 4 echo coins!"

   "Dad, I can't walk anymore, I can't walk anymore."

"Sell newspapers! Big news, Governor Nico will soon marry his sixth husband in 6 days."

"This gentleman, can I take up your time? Let me introduce to you our Heavenly Father and Savior, the all-knowing and almighty Mighty One, Futan Saweto."

The quiet and peaceful scenery makes Charles a little unappreciated. No matter how peaceful it is, everything here is as fragile as a bubble. Although very rare, islands inhabited by millions of humans have also sunk.

The two shuttled between the gray and white buildings, and finally they came to a huge church.

Walking around the church, the sound instantly quieted, and in the center of the main hall was a huge stone sculpture that was barely human.

is said to be human, but the appearance is more like a standing rotting octopus, the scales turned out and the eyeballs all over the body make people feel uncomfortable at first glance.

The believers in black robes lined up neatly and recited a certain language without consonants in a low voice. Charles was a little familiar, and the words were somewhat similar to his own hallucinations.

"The high priest is in the confessional, please come with me." The hook took Charles through the crowd and continued to walk in.

The guard at the back of the main hall began to be tight. Every corner or door of the room stood a believer in black robes. Although no one spoke, Charles could feel that they were all watching him.

In a dimly lit room, Charles saw the high priest of Fatanism, a figure in a red robe lying on the ground.

The hook respectfully gave a teaching and then backed out.

The high priest slowly stood up, but did not turn around

"Captain Charles, I need you to find something. A holy thing of my lord."
