New Emperor Of Ghouls

Chapter 31 - 31- Sword Rain

The mountain of corpses cushioned his fall, but the sound of bones breaking sounded out under his feet. Zhong Yi put up a protective barrier around the city and heaved a sigh. Now all his attention was on this problem.

The massive cloud of darkness was slowly approaching. Hawks, ravens, bats, thunderbirds, all kinds of flying monsters were there, numbering millions and more kept joining the large cloud of blackness as it approached.

Zhong Yi knew he was missing something, a missing link drawing everything together like pieces of a puzzle. While he was thinking, the human soldiers fought like they were on some kind of super drug. They attacked everything on their path slowly acc.u.mulating varying degrees of wounds. When they lost their arms, they resorted to kicking. When their legs were lost, they resorted to moving like slugs and biting their enemies heals. As their numbers decreased, their ferocity was the opposite.

With the city as the centre, expanded in a circle pushing back the players slowly but surely.

On the other hand, the player's expressions were blank. Their pupils had expanded to cover the entire eye making them look soulless, and they attacked like zombies. Once one of them died, the other two took its place.

The battle was increasing in intensity and the soldiers were at a disadvantage from the lack of numbers. What he didn't see was the lack of fighting on the other fronts of the city. It was like they had reached a unanimous decision for a ceasefire and all walked towards the western wall where everyone was converging towards

Zhong Yi was doing his part as well. He advanced at breakneck speeds, cutting down players like grass. His kagune moved just as swiftly, only aiming for necks for an efficient kill.

He was like a devil on the battlefield, those caught in his path were torn apart by his b.a.r.e hands, or smothered into the ground because of them. When they tried to get back up, a kagune would pierce them, pick them up and throw them at incoming enemies, knocking them down long enough for him to repeat it.

'The more blood, the better!' Deviously thought Zhong Yi. As everyone was fighting. Blood from fallen foes was rising from the ground to join the sphere of blood floating above Zhong Yi's head, where a flag was absorbing it.

A bad feeling was creeping up inside him. The players lack of response to anything, slow mobility and general weakness were bad signs. It was like someone wanted them to die and sent them to their deaths.

Suddenly, a large shadow covered the entire battlefield blocking out the sunlight.

Everything stopped. The soldiers stopped fighting the players and looked up in horror. The residents inside Haven city got out of their houses and looked up in fear. Even the players in their controlled state looked up, whether out of acknowledging a hostile presence or to welcome it, He would find out very soon.

The sea of unorganised flying beasts started to converge in the sky, lightening the area from the unblocked sun rays, letting him see what he was up against and frankly, he didn't know what it was.

Flying beast stacked against one another biting and tearing each other apart only caused confusion among the observers. Eyes, torn wings, bloodied heads started to float in mid-air after being ripped from their body.

Millions of uneven body parts were floating in the air before they shot forward stacking against each other. The shape of a brain was fleshed out before it grew in size from more body parts slapping against it.

The brain hovered down to the ground while still increasing. Zhong Yi could feel a weak and impotent aura from the brain of flesh as the players allowed themselves to be absorbed by it. Their mummified bodies were all that was left after being in close contact with it

He knew better than to let the brain continue to become more powerful. The millions of human cultivation it would absorb would make it too powerful to fight against. Cutting of its power supply was paramount.

A flag materialised in his hands. As if to follow it. Waves of blood raised from the flag and swirled around Zhong Yi. It was exhilarating, being able to control seas of blood with a wave and a single command.

Despite his spirit energy draining at fast speeds because he sped up the gathering processes, He circulated the Royal sacred Origin scripture to the maximum to slow down the draining.

Once all the blood was gathered from the flag and the battlefield was gathered, He spun the flag in his hand in a circle like motion and the blood hovering in the air copied.

The smile on his face became more pronounced. He raised the [Devourer of Gods] to the sky and like loyal slaves, heaps of blood followed disappearing into the clouds. Zhong Yi commanded "Sword rain"

The blood, out of view, slowly parted splitting into millions of small spheres the size of a head. The spheres transitioned from their spherical shape into shapes of swords. Longswords, rapiers, sabres, scimitars all kinds of swords were shaped out by blood.

The [Devourer of Gods] in his hand was consuming something something else to power it, not just his spirit energy, and he needed to finish up things really quickly, or else the foreboding feeling might come true.

"Feast on thy blood and consume thy enemy!"

A gleam of light from the sky signalled the beginning. Like thunder, blood-red swords rained down reaping death. Players still approaching the brain were struck down. Zhong Yi concentrated a larger percentage on the brain. Unfortunately it didn't kill it.

The beasts were struck down stopping it from gaining more mass and pieces of the brain were carved off, reducing its size from the size of a 3-story building to the size of the carriage. It's aura was reverted to its weak state and without players and dead beasts to fuel it.
