New Emperor Of Ghouls

Chapter 38 - 38: Warm memories

"Your ancestor, Yan Long was the third emperor of the empire and had the greatest scholars available to research ways of making it happen. For an entire century, they toiled struggles, battled against each other in fierce duels of knowledge and the spires of dominion were the result of their hard work.

Made out of precious metals gathered from numerous provinces, the spires of dominion reached a humongous height of 150 metres and were 230 meters in width."

Xiao Yi's ears listened with rapt attention. His eye literally glowed from how engaged with the story. He whispered to himself.' I want to see one"

His father looked at him. 'Xiao Yi, I will personally take you to see one, but we can't go inside'

Xiao Yi nodded in agreement knowing how dangerous it is to go outside now, especially with the simultaneous takeover of 3 provinces in the north.

His father began once more, "Because of its immense size and the amazing technology used to make it, The spires of dominion were able to harness the inner energy of any entity and channel it into other uses. Once caught by the spires chains, the being would be held down indefinitely until a member of the royal family lets them go.

After the first spire was made, they made a second, and the scholars found out that they mutually powered the other making them more powerful. So your ancestors had more spires made and had them spread around the kingdom because they would have more power to harness energy

However, that's not the only thing they did. The spires of dominion were placed in a specific pattern allowing for the energy harnessed from people to enter the ground and nourish it making agriculture flourish."

Zhong Yi's brain soaked up all the information like a sponge in water and hungered for more. His eyes lacked the confusion of a child his age would have when given so much information. "Then the battle of gods?"

Zhong Yi's father rubbed his head with his hand with approval. "Looks like someone has been listening to their tutors in class, unlike your brutish older siblings."

"Then battle of the gods," he repeated. "Powerful beings descended from the sky and waged a war upon each other. They were so strong; landscapes became unrecognisable and disaster struck every kingdom, every nation, every race. Nowhere was safe any more, people couldn't even live underground because of how frequently it would collapse.

It came to a point where the gods battling each other became a common occurrence. However, they made the most foolish mistake, and we held every god accountable for it.

We Ghouls would've stayed out of it because no battles happened with our borders and no ghouls were killed because of their conflicts, till they brought a battle above Bradford city killing half of our people!

Emperor Yan Long was angry along with the rest of the kingdom sharing the same sentiment, they launched a war against the gods and ordered for every powerful being to be captured and serve a life sentence to repent of their mistakes.

The arrogant fools who call themselves them gods were quite infuriated at and attacked the Sacred Ghoul empire. Unfortunately, every being who crossed into our borders never left. After research, we found out that those being used an inner energy called divine energy and it was the most powerful energy we had ever seen before.

With the divine energy being drained from their bodies and their dependence on it to live, they had to keep gathering more of it making our supply of energy to the spires limitless.

We suffered heavy losses from not being able to find out where the attacks would start, but every battle was a victory and later, the battle was named the Ghoul's revolt because of our ways of defying expectations and going against beings who could become kings and queens of any place they went to."

Zhong Yi was still bubbling with energy and was waiting for another story.

Yan Gu looked at his son and released a tired sigh. 'I knew he would stay awake'

"What story do you want to hear now?" Asked Yan Gu.

Yan Gu's son ripped the covers of the king-sized bed of his small legs and ran over to the bookcases along his bed chamber's wall. With his small size, he climbed it and reached the top where he pushed a thick book onto the floor.

He climbed down like a monkey and carried the large book over to his father, lowering his head slightly to not look directly at his father's disapproving gaze.

'Who on Ghouls grave, thought to put such a big bookcases in my child's room.' Shaking his head slightly, he looked at the title written on the book in bold writing depicting of the epic take held inside.

"Father, I want you to read The First Emperor Ghouls Rise To Dominance." For extra insurance, his eyes took on a look he knew his father wouldn't say no to.

Yan Gu released another sigh, but still complied with the request opening the which book and holding young Zhong Yo on his l.a.p.

"This is a legendary tale of a legendary man..."

*Flashback End*

'Maybe the system would shed a light on it?' Thought Zhong Yi before he inspected it.
