New Emperor Of Ghouls

Chapter 53 - 53: [Beserker Commander] and [Royal Shadow]

The barracks were moved 2 kilometres away from the city to allow for room for expansion as the army grew in size and quick response from any attacking force.

The barracks was a large area clear of trees and a large string of buildings ran along the west side of the area.

Most of the buildings were the living quarters of the soldiers.

When he entered the barracks, the noise instantly quietened. Yan Zhong Yi walked in with the dignified and majestic aura. The soldiers stopped whatever they were doing and stood with their backs straight facing forward. Hands pressed at their sides and their chins parallel to their feet.

"As you were!" Said Zhong Yi as he walked over to the largest building with the steles resting outside of it.

The [Berserker] Stele and [General] were joined by two more steles. One of them was the [Berserker Commander] Stele.

[Berserker Commander]: SSS grade military, Description: The evolved professor of general, Effect: Receives skill [Army Command]

[Army Command]: All soldiers being led will receive orders easier, and not only will morale, but soldiers will also be fearless under the threat. All soldiers being led will receive a cultivation stage level shadow upgrade. Receives the ability to arrange troop formations]

The shadow upgrade was an amazing effect. They would allow for a soldier to be one cultivation stage higher when being led by the [Berserker Commander].

It was a broken effect because if a soldier was on the verge of a breakthrough to stage 3-0 from stage 2-9, then they would be able to fight as if they had broken through under the army command skills. The strength between each stage widens after level making a stage 3 way more powerful than a stage 2.

Because he only had 3 generals, he couldn't turn anyone into a commander yet. But, if he were to make An Ming, Hong Shen and Wu Lin into generals, he would have 6 generals and one would be able to become a commander. Of course, that person was going to Cheng Jianjun.

The second stele was something Zhong Yi hadn't expected and it made him giddy with excitement.

[Royal Shadow] SSS grade profession, Descriptions: These people are the best of the best amongst ghouls tasked with defending the royal family. Limit: 1000.

Royal Shadows were an order set up during the reign of Ancestor Ghoul. The empire just starting up at the time and Ancestor's Queen Celeste had been pregnant with his child. He managed to stop an assassination attempt on the queen but she had a miscarriage because of the attacks she had to defend herself from.

The order of the Royal Shadows was made to protect the royal family when the emperor cannot. They followed kings, princes and princess into battle and had been like Royal Shadows from how graceful they made each kill. It didn't help the fact each Shadow were crème of the crop, the best of the best making them powerful compared to their brethren.

What made them even more fearful was the elimination system. With their numbers in the thousands, they made a ranking system that added new strong and talented ghouls recruits and got rid of the weaker members making sure, the order remained strong and continued to grow in strength.

'This is good. More protection for Zhong Mei.' Zhong Mei has been exploring a lot recently and even though the region is safe, he couldn't help but worry about her getting hurt and he couldn't be there every time. Now, he could send shadows, who would be the best from the current stock of soldiers, to protect his daughter.

He couldn't see himself needing the protection because of how quickly he was gaining strength, plus he was more powerful than anyone else in the territory.

He called for Cheng Jianjun and had him become a commander while An Ming, Wu Lin and Hong Shen became generals. He then had them choose the best soldiers to become Royal Shadows.

Naturally, once news spread about the 1000 spots available. The soldiers intensified their training because of how prestigious it was to become an Shadow

Zhong Yi only planned to let 100 people become protectors and the rest of the spots would be reserved for noteworthy individuals who distinguish themselves. The competitive atmosphere helped to help the Sacred Ghoul Empire soldiers to become stronger at a faster rate.

Content with everything, he went to check out the soon to be finished school. The source material and curriculum was close to finishing and with Chen Tai's help, the pace at which it had almost finished shock even Zhong Yi.

The school would have 50 students for every classroom. There would be 16 classrooms and hopefully, 16 teachers would be properly trained by then to be able to teach students. Currently, there wouldn't be enough children to fill up all the classrooms, But the more teachers the better.

Ghoul children can be quite a handful and the thought of having to deal with more than 1 every day sent shivers down his spine. While he was checking the progress of the village and conversing with villagers, his mind wandered to how the task force was doing.

The school was going to be called Sacred Ghoul academy because it would be the first of its kind to be built in the new empire and blossom academy of knowledge wasn't allowed because "naming academies after your daughter would set a bad example."

Under the glowing glare of the moonlight, shadows moved rapidly over buildings. They moved so fast that midnight strollers were lucky enough to catch a glimpse of dark cloud zooming past their head.

At the left side of the city was a large compound. Large amounts of space were decorated with beautiful sakura trees and delicately trimmed grass. Occasionally, patrolling men would stroll past with torches held in hand gossiping like housewives.

The shadows came to a halt on top of a slanted roof belonging to a vengeful servant just outside of the walled compound.
