“Yes,” Xiao Mohan replied. His slender and long fingers held a pen as he signed some documents. He occasionally drew a few circles.

He threw the document in front of Han Changqing and said, “Give these projects to Gu Yan. Give him the bid. Also, Gu Miaoting…”

Han Changqing tapped the document as he looked at the projects on them. “We’re giving him perks again. What a waste of these projects.”

“Waste?” Xiao Mohan raised his head and looked at Han Changqing intently as he listened. He asked casually, “Has Wen Shui been pretty free lately?”

“Master, what do you mean?” Han Changqing’s heart dropped when he heard this.

Wen Shui? That demon! Was Xiao Mohan planning to let Wen Shui take on the projects? If anyone had to work with Wen Shui, they would want Hades to take them as soon as possible so that they wouldn’t have to meet Wen Shui.

Up in the mountains, in the Xiao family chambers.

Gu Chuyan sat on the sofa and was preparing to turn off the television when she saw this scene. She sprung up immediately and pasted her face right to the television.

“What… what’s happening? Is this revenge?” Gu Chuyan whispered.

Gu Yan had just gotten appointed but was then dragged by someone’s motorcycle and beaten up. This was definitely an act of revenge. This would make the people of the S City question if Gu Yan was really as good as they thought.

He got into trouble the moment he got appointed. It would probably take a long time for Gu Yan to change his image. If not, who would listen to him?

“What are you looking at?” At this moment, Xiao Mohan walked in and placed his coat to one side.

The sudden noise caused Gu Chuyan to stand up hurriedly. In the process, she pulled her wound and fell on the sofa. He walked towards her.

Xiao Mohan bent down and lifted his hand. He touched her forehead gently and asked, “Does your wound still hurt?”

“It’s fine.” He was leaning too close to her and his warm breath landed on her face. She didn’t know what to do.

Gu Chuyan blushed. She wanted to escape Xiao Mohan.

She had only met him twice but for some reason, every time he approached her, her heart would start palpitating furiously as though she was having a heart attack.

“Oh right, why am I here?” Gu Chuyan was confused.

She could still remember what happened yesterday night clearly. Whenever she recalled the event, she felt frightened. The wounds on her body were evidence of what happened that night.

“I passed by coincidentally and saw you injured. So, I brought you home,” he replied calmly. He didn’t want to mention it again.

Gu Chuyan sat on the sofa and watched his finger brushing against her eyebrows. He slowly lifted her chin so that she would stare into his eyes.

The moment she raised her head and met his indifferent gaze, she felt as though she had fallen into a deep lake. She couldn’t get out!

She shifted her little hands. He released her chin and raised his arm and Gu Chuyan fell into his arms. He carried her up and walked out with huge strides.

They were the only ones in this huge villa.

“I can walk,” she said softly.

She could smell his scent. She secretly peeked at him. His aura made her feel at ease. She wanted to rely on him the way she relied on her older brother.

When she thought about this, she moved her hand and held his sleeve lightly.

He carried her out of the villa and walked along the path. Not far up ahead was a huge garden. Right in the center, there was a circular rocking chair.

Xiao Mohan carried her and placed her down.

“Why do you treat me so well?” Gu Chuyan asked after she sat down.

Xiao Mohan stood behind the chair and hugged the chair from the back. He leaned forward and looked at her with his handsome face.

“Rest and recover quickly.”

Gu Chuyan’s heart felt warm. She wanted to thank him.

“You have to show responsibility towards me,” Xiao Mohan continued.

She clasped her fingers together tightly.

She was a little flustered as she looked at Xiao Mohan. She wasn’t used to this. Her eyes flickered and she tilted her head slightly. She pursed her lips and whispered, “Thank you.”

Xiao Mohan smiled gently and raised his eyebrows as he looked at her.

… He split that sentence into two and almost made her heart explode! Gu Chuyan glared at him with her big round eyes. She pondered for a moment and said, “If I’m a bad woman, you’ll be in trouble.”

He was so handsome. That face was enough to tempt people.

Xiao Mohan shifted his face closer when he heard this. Her lips were almost glued to hers as he moved them and said, “If you cause me trouble, I’ll accept it gladly.”

For some reason, when Gu Chuyan heard his reply, her face turned red.

Xiao Mohan turned his head. She thought he wanted to leave so she stood up. Instead, when she pushed her lips forward, their lips collided.

“Why? Are you afraid of me?” The man’s charismatic voice resounded deeply beside her ear.

Gu Chuyan grasped the corners of her clothes tightly. She didn’t know what to do. She was like a little child.

Xiao Mohan held her face with his hands and pulled her into his arms.

Gu Chuyan made a muffled sound as she widened her eyes in surprise. She didn’t know where to put her hands.

Her mind went blank. Her body was stiff as she leaned against his chest. She even forgot to breathe.

Because of his overpowering kiss, her small face was extremely red.

As she almost suffocated, her vision turned blurry as she saw Xiao Mohan’s face getting closer.

When she thought she was going to die, Xiao Mohan released her.

Gu Chuyan went weak and fell onto the chair. He hooked her body and pulled her towards his chest.

“I-I-I!” She stuttered and couldn’t say anything.

“Gu Chuyan.” Xiao Mohan’s voice was a little hoarse as he called her name in a low voice.

He called her gently and deeply as though he was carving her name into his heart.

“You need to go to school tomorrow, right?” Xiao Mohan asked.

Gu Chuyan finally remembered that her school holiday had ended. She was supposed to return to school tomorrow. She was in her third year. She couldn’t fail her modules.

“Yes,” she replied absent-mindedly.

Xiao Mohan lifted her up so that she could sit on the chair. He placed his hands on the sides of the chair so that he covered her body entirely. “Do you need to stay in school?”

“Yes,” she replied in a forced tone.

His gaze was fixed on her exquisite face.

He couldn’t help but laugh. He picked up her hair with his fingers and twirled them around his fingertips.

“I see,” he replied. He stood up and took half a step back with his hands in his pockets.

Gu Chuyan snuck a few glances at him. She touched her chin. She felt so awkward that she wanted to run away but her legs were weak so she couldn’t escape.

Or maybe her heart was dead after what happened yesterday. However, she wasn’t sad at all. When she saw Gu Yan getting dragged by a motorcycle on television and getting his legs beaten, she actually laughed.

“The marriage certificate is real. Don’t get too close to other men at school,” Xiao Mohan said as he turned.

Gu Chuyan’s mind turned blank.

Did he think she was the one who wanted to seduce him the previous two times? She saw the corners of his lips lifting up slightly. For some reason, she felt like a scared cat.

“But,” He remained silent for a few seconds and walked back. When he walked past her, he threw a sentence at her, “I’m the exception.”

… Gu Chuyan turned around and saw him walking back to the villa. He left her alone here!
