Nikita

Chapter 258 - Reason With Me

Walking along the highway to Nikita's office, Liza couldn't help but think of the doctor who had gone through enough shit in the past six months. The loss of his parents had turned Nikita into an empty shell. He had lost hope and had given up. He wasn't fighting to live through life anymore. He was just a dead man walking who was only alive in the operating rooms. He was good at his job no doubt, but Nikit he had resolved to pretend that everything was okay. He had cut off communications with his grandparents who were still hoping to reach out to him. They only got reports from Liza about their grandson, but that was because someone had to ensure the old couple didn't go crazy from worrying about their grandson. Of course Nikita had found out about it, and instead of confronting the director for meddling in his affairs, he pretended, again. He had ignored almost everything that he shouldn't have ignored. Then again, what was there for him anyway? Nikita hated how things were going but only because his surgeries were limited. Instead of While Qiao was getting the information about the virus from the coving woman, the panic in the hospital was decreasing, maybe because everyone could see that the doctors were doing their best to ensure there wasn't a pandemic in the hospital and outside of Todorov. The CDC officials had looked relaxed compared to when they had come to the hospital. Maybe that was also why the people were chat's why Liza wasn't going to leave him alone too.

ed to two surgeries a week. Liza realized that it was pointless trying to link the good doctor with his humanity. He would heal when he wanted to and they would be here for him. But the healing process took a while. Nikiyta hadn't even initiated it yet and they were always worried about him. Liza considered relieving him from his job, three months after the crash, but what excuse would she use? The doctor didn't show any signs of distress or grieving. He always interacted with his patients and even consoled the families of those patients who didn tmake it out of the hospital, of course in other departments since Nikita had only ever lost one patient since his career began and that was years ago. So Liza never really had a reason. She had let the doctor do his job, even when he preferred staying at the hospital over going back home. He had always smiled with the kids and loved them. He was kind to everyone as usual, to the point that no one could even begin to iMagine that he had lost his best friend and his entire family in a crash that the world was still trying to decode. Liza had even gotten officers to convince Hilton to talk about the crash but he had declined and told them that he was wasted on the plane and he didn't know what happened. Even though that was true, he could have at least acknowledged that he was hurting but Nikita was numb. He couldn't feel shit. Maybe after the incident today, Nikita would relaly dnertsand that it was important for him to take a break, but Liza knew it all depended on him. Knowing Nikita he would jump right back into work like nothing ever happened. What comforted Liza in this night today was the certainty that Nikita wouldn't put anyone in harm's way no matter what happened to him. He valued the lives of the people around him and he would never endanger them. He had alerted her of the possible threat and that's what made the director so sure that her doctor was innocent. Liza knew Nikita could have been compromised in the pathology room and there was a chance that he could infect Maggie, the old doctor who doesn't give two shits about herself. She was more worried about Nikita's well benign. Maybe there really isn't a virus, maybe this was a direct attack on Pavlenko's reputation. Maybe this was all just to bring Nikita down, which was even more surprising considering the man couldn't give two shits about himself. So what was the conviction that he would get put there and defend himself and his family? Maybe whoever was after him didn't really know him, because Nikita was tired. He had had enough of people pointing fingers at him even when he didn't care. He had had enough of people trying to befriend himsinche he was alone and had a fortune to his namalming down and the patients were listening to the doctors. Liza on the other hand, had figured she would be of more use healing Maggie with her favorite doctor. She needed to ensure Niita was okay, and not because she wanted him in the operating rooms as soon as possible, but because she cared about him. Nikita had cared about them in all the ways he could, even if he was always in the operating room, the good doctor never once stopped worrying about his friends in the hospital. He was the doctor that could relate more with the cancer kids and one who easily ȧssociated with children in the hospitals. It was almost like he was their guardian angel. Then again, maybe he was good with kids because of his little sister Raisa, the angel he would never forget about, the kid that made him happier than anyone ever would. Nikita loved that kid so much he would gladly walk on fire for her. He would even drag himself to hell and back for that young child. It was only a pity that she had presided in the crash, but that didn tmake it any easier for him. However, ta fortune to his namalming down and the patients were listening to the doctors. Liza on the other hand, had figured she would be of more use healing Maggie with her favorite doctor. She needed to ensure Niita was okay, and not because she wanted him in the operating rooms as soon as possible,  hat didn't change how he interacted with the kids at the hospital. Hsi smiles were always there for them, his laughter, no matter how dry, was always existent whenever he was arouf the children. He was a good human and an angel at heart he didn deserve what he was going through, but then again, no could control their destiny. They all just had to be there for him at his west and his bets because Nikita Pavlenko never left a friend to suffer on his own. Te. So he had decided to live his life on a daily basis. Liza was sure there was more to this, but she couldn't just walk to the CDC officials and tell them that there wasn't really a virus in the hospital. She couldn't really convince them that all of this was done to ruin one person who couldn't care one bit about what the society was saying about him.. Nikita didn't deserve all the hate he was getting, that much Liza had already known. Maybe it would get better, but when would that be?
