Nikita

Chapter 48 - No Matter What Happens

Walking towards Samantha's isolated room was held in, Qiao Xi swore he would get answers. He knew it wouldn't be easy considering the lengths the woman had gone to ensure there was chaos in the hospital.

Samantha knew there were deaths bound, especially the weaker hearts patients. She knew the patients' families would lose their trust in Todorov and that the hospital would come under scrutiny.

More than anything else, she knew this would affect Nikita directly and indirectly, considering Nikita was the key shareholder in the Todorov hospital.

It was impossible to buy him out no matter what happened, so she wanted him to have no option but to step down, and a sane Nikita would have done that, especially with the pressure, but that wouldn't happen, not on Qiao's watch.

He was going to find out who sent her and why she was doing this, and if that didn't work, then they would just have to use another strategy.

Of course, since it was night and the hospital was compromised, Samantha wouldn't be taken to the police station lest she spread the virus there, and that was something the woman had been sure of.

She would probably just use the same escape route that she used when delivering Renata's body parts to whoever she was conspiring with at the hospital. This wasn't going to be easy, but no one ever said Qiao Xi became a colonel by just taking the easy tasks.

This right here was personal vendetta for him, and even though they were advised against taking on personal matters, no one would make things right than Qiao Xi himself.

He was the one person who couldn't be bought no matter what amount of money was brought to the table. The wise people always said everyone had a price but was there a price to loyalty?

Qiao was loyal to Nikita Rostova, or as the world knew him, Doctor Mykolajki Rostova Pavlenko and nothing would get him to turn on him.

Nothing.

Reaching the room, Qiao dismissed the guards and told them to leave him with Samantha, which wasn't so hard considering he was in a higher position than them. He would fix this. Samantha should have been scared when Qiao sent away the guards, but she wasn't.

Samantha's reaction could only mean that she wasn't scared that Qiao would turn her into some fuċkɨnġ syrup and shit.

She was scared of something else, more specifically someone else, someone who could kill her without a second thought, someone she knew wouldn't be showing up anytime soon anyway. So she knew she could have her fun.

No one in their right mind ever wanted to be in the same room and behind closed doors in a secluded place with Officer Qiao Xi, and they all had their reasons.

The officer was the most brutal of the brutal. He was the one person who could distinguish between emotion and being empty, a feat that had come easy for him following his life experiences that he would never tell anyone other than Nikita who had experienced them with him.

Looking at the woman before him, Qiao Xi almost laughed at how stupid she looked, and she was just a puppet, a kid that had been sold off.

She was just another person in Nikita's world that he would gladly eliminate if requested. Still, right now, Qiao would make her believe they would follow the usual procedures. He would make her comfortable with him and let her open up to him, and then he would strike; that was easy.

On the other hand, Samantha looked like she was about to have a blast. She was sure Qiao would do anything that would risk his position in the military or the oath he had taken, but what if Qiao couldn't care less about his commitment?

What if the officer was here for revenge and just revenge for his dear brother, who was now sedated and alone in his office with the frequent nightmares he always complained about?

What if, this time, Qiao was ready to go wild for the sake of his best friend?

What if he was ready to risk it all for Nikita Rostova Pavlenko?

What if?

"We both know there won't be any pleasantries, Samantha, so how about we just get to the point, no?" Qiao asked Samantha, his eyes and demeanor cold while the woman was wearing a fluffy smile, one that Qiao was hoping to wipe off forever.

"I wouldn't expect anything less than an officer," Samantha said, draining the last bit like it was supposed to mean something. Maybe if Qiao Xi was an average person, he could have picked the hints that the woman was about to use seduction to get her way out of this.

However, Qiao Xi was an emotionally stupid person; he knew nothing of women except for the fact that they were just humans like him. For him, he did not realize seduction or the art itself.

All he knew were how to detonate bombs and get in the way of the bullets that were aimed at his family.

Maybe he would someday understand the aspects that he was missing out on, but today was not that day, and it didn't take long before Samantha realized his emotional quotient was very low.

"How did you know that much information about doctor Pavlenko?" Qiao asked.

"What? Anyone could see it. He's a Pavlenko, and nothing good comes out where they are involved," Samantha said scornfully like she didn't even think about their state for a moment.

She had nothing to lose because she believed there was nothing Qiao would do to her. She was, after all, the key witness to Nikita's supposed actions. But was that enough to get her off the tracklist?

"What does that mean?" Qiao asked like he was already tired of this. Maybe he was, but he hasn't gotten his answers, and no matter what happened, he would get them. Come rain come sunshine or even the deadliest virus they were about to face, Qiao Xi would get what he wanted.

"You know what Qiao Xi means. Look around, and everything has changed since they died, and I am bright enough to know that you think the same," Samantha said, her conviction being ever so clear.

She had her reasons for doing this, and the more she talked to Qiao, the more the officer was convinced that someone was pulling the strings because otherwise, the woman wouldn't have been so confident.
