Nikita

Chapter 63 - Two Rats

"Wait, can you even see me?" Qiao asked as he walked towards Nikita. His friend had been acting weird, and only Qiao Cloud risked asking such dangerous questions.

In response, Nikita flung a pillow at Qiao, absolutely in the opposite direction of where the culprit was. This would be fun for Qiao, amusing for everyone in the room, and hell for Nikita, and he could just tell by the way Qiao had begun teasing him.

"Well damn Maggie, how many bottles of sedatives did you empty him? Are you sure you did not overdose him?" Qiao asked lightly. Of course, he knew Maggie cared about them and would always do what's best for the two idiotic friends, but this right here was hilarious.

"Well, he was having nightmares, and I didn't know what to do so that I may have increased his dose a little more than usual. He's awake though, and he'll be fine in twenty minutes," Maggie said like a mother who had walked in on her two useless children playing in the snow.

She looked so done with them it was somewhat cute. On the other hand, Liza was starting to feel like a third wheel here, so she excused herself. Someone had to ensure the door was fixed, and only she had that much power here right now.

"I'll get someone to fix the damn door before you all start kissing," Liza laughed as she walked out. The brothers were chaotic, but at least she could rest easy knowing that there would always be someone to try and protect Nikita. That is all she needed to make things better for him.

"Liza, help me—" Nikita pleaded, but Liza was already out the door.

Dave came with Nikita's coffee, but Qiao drank it, not giving a shit about his brother.

"But that was the boss's," Dave said.

"Oh dear, this ingrate only takes coffee he makes himself. No matter how much love you put in here, he wouldn't have drunk it anyway," Qiao said as Nikita slumped back into the bed, removing the drip on him.

He didn't need it anymore.

Nikita had so many questions, but he would relish Qiao's playful banter. It was a relief seeing him smile, considering the soldier never really laughed around people. He only laughed when he was free with the people around him, and right now, he had Maggie and Nikita.

Of course, the three crazies were there with him too, but they didn't matter to him.

"Boss, we'll have to leave too. We got some work we need to complete," Rael said, her tone so respectful that Qiao and Maggie wondered where the hell her manners had been all the while. SO she could only talk to Nikita in a respectful tone?

Wasn't she such a horrible darling?

"Alright, and tell Kyle I'll drop by later. I still need to look at Qiao's horrible face so that I could aim my pillow better," Nikita said; his statement carried so much power even though he was talking with his eyes closed. That was how much power he had.

Rael didn't have to be told twice; she just looked at the CCTV cameras and knew Kyle was watching and had gotten the message, which meant they had to finalize everything before their boss went to them.

"Okay, boss, and quick recovery," Rael said with a bow before walking out of the room.

"I'm sorry about the door," Morgana said quietly, and Nikita just nodded.

"Please give him vitamins," Dave said to Maggie, who just smiled at him. Everyone was addressing Nikita and Maggie; it was cute that he cared about his boss. He knew only Maggie could ensure the stubborn man in the bed was taking his medication and being good.

Dave walked out the door with Morgana, after Rael. They needed to get back to their base and get everything ready.

There were a lot of reports that needed Nikita's approval. They all had been waiting for him, and maybe this time, they would even manage to make them understand how important he was to them.

They hated it when the doctor was out there by himself, but what else would they even do to him? Maybe he would get better and think of himself instead of other people with time.

Maybe when all of this chaos was over, he would have time to check out the theories and ensure everything was okay.

Eventually, Nikita would have to go home. He couldn't stay away forever just because of a housemaid he suspected. He wasn't a coward, and he needed to show that.

Running away from the Pavlenko household had seemed like a beautiful idea yesterday, well yesterday, he didn't know that Natalya would send her daughter to make him into an evil person. E would just have to deal with that later, though.

"Nikita, are you still there, or do you feel like peeing?" Qiao taunted the poor doctor. There were times when Nikita wanted to auction his best friend, and right now, it really seemed like a really great time. Besides, no one would miss him, right?

Qiao was a royal pain in the ȧss, but he was the kind of pain Nikita would gladly endure. They had been through a lot of shit, aligned with Ren and Carrie, and they always were the best friends of a lifetime, and even though Ren was no longer here with them, Nikita could only hope that not much changed.

He didn't want to think of ever losing his best friend.

They had cultivated a lot in their relationship, and frankly, Qiao was the only reason he didn't feel like giving up completely. Of course, he didn't want anything to do with his life, but he didn't want to put Qiao and Carrie through the pain of losing another best friend.

They had already lost Ren, and Nikita would forever blame himself no matter what the Semenovs said. He would always think of it as something he could have prevented if he didn't always give in to what Ren wanted; besides, he had gone with the Pavlenko family.

Shaking his head, Nikita didn't want to think of the crash anymore. He had people to look for, or rather, he had a Samantha to deal with.

A Samantha to tell him what the fuċk was going on, a woman who needed to answer his questions because if she didn't, Nikita wouldn't guarantee that she would ever see sunlight again.

Nikita had the motivation, and right now, he needed something to make sure he didn't go all out and ruin the woman's life without a care. Of course, he would have to be rational about it all, but maybe this time, he would have to bargain with his humanity, no?

"Oww," Qiao whɨnėd when Nikita held him down and hit him with the pillow. It was unexpected since Qiao was still busy enjoying Nikita's coffee and making faces and comments at the man.

What he seemed to have forgotten is that Nikita was never sick, and he was just tired, and now that he had woken up, he had the strength to teach Qiao Xi a lesson.. They hadn't even realized it yet, but somewhere between their banters, Maggie had left the room.
