Nikita

Chapter 74 - Heart Strokes

"Please don't hurt me," Samantha said, making Nikita scrunch his face in disgust. Surely she didn't think he was going to try and force himself on her, no?

He had seen a lot of patients whose will had been stolen from them, and even if that wasn't enough a lesson to make him back off from women who didn't want him, his mother was.

Yelena Pavlenko was a force to be reckoned with. She was the typical Russian mother who would beat the shit out of her kids if they so much as disrespect anyone. The woman and her slippers were best friends, but only during the theme when the slippers found their way on Nikita's head or buŧŧ.

She wasn't violent, no. She just had her way of disciplining her children, something that had just been triggered.

Once again, Nikita was thrust back into the harsh reality that he would grow old alone and without his family. He had no one, and there wasn't shit he could do to change it either. Maybe if he were lucky enough, he would see Qiao's children because Carrie was more of a lost cause like him.

She hated kids yet had a soft spot for humanity. How that worked was still a miracle for everyone else. Anyway, Nikita shook his head as if trying to forget the horrible fact that was hitting him hard in the face. How lonely and lost he was without his family.

Maybe he really should have gone with them. But would that make him feel any better today? That shit hurt like hell.

"I wouldn't do anything you didn't want me to. As I said, I was just passing by to check on you. Now that I see you're well, I'll just take my leave. Goodbye, Samantha," Nikita said with a smile before heading towards the door.

He was beginning to get emotional, or maybe he was just a sentimental person, and the woman in front of him simply reminded him of the fact that he wouldn't ever be forced to wear pink shit to the hospital as part of a pinky promise with Raisa.

Or maybe it was the fact that he would never step into a children's mall so casually while looking for dolls because who the fuċk was he supposed to buy them for? Or even the fact that the engineering gears would never look the same because Yuri was not around anymore.

Everything around Nikita will always hate him, and he hated it because he had been ready to let everything go, but then his pain in the ȧss best friend had thought that it was a good idea to try and save him or, even worse, to help him get closure, but where was that getting him anyway?

"Aren't you going to ask me why I did it?" Samantha asked, but what was Nikita supposed to ask that she didn't already know he wanted to know? She didn't really seem like the type to want to tell him anything anyway/.

"Why would I care about what you do, whatever it is you do with your time?" Nikita strained out, trying to make himself sound like he didn't want the answers when he was desperate for them.

He had never wanted closure since the death of his family, but he wanted to know why the woman had gone to great lengths to ruin his reputation.

Maybe she had her reasons.

Maybe, but then everyone had their own reasons for doing things, but that was never an excuse to be a shitty person or even ruin other people's lives, right. However, in the world they lived in, in the side they had chosen, there was no good or bad.

There was just falsified humanity.

"I—"

"You don't have to worry. I couldn't care less if I lived or died. Which reminds me, It's almost dinner time, and I need to go home and eat the delicious meals Natalya has been preparing," Nikita said as he opened the door, not caring about the woman who was in shock behind him.

He was done being a good doctor today. He had saved enough lives, and the longer he stayed in this room, the thinner his chances were of not attacking Samantha because this woman was crazy.

"Don't worry, Jacob will project the security feeds from our mansion. I wouldn't want you to think I did anything to mommy dearest now, hmm," Nikita said thoughtfully before locking the door behind him.

Nikita had said that like he was sympathizing with the woman. Then again, nothing about his voice screamed security with him. The moment he walked out the door, Nikita crashed. He needed a break from everything, including his life.

Before he could even say anything, a voice interrupted him, scaring the living wits out of him. His life was literally hell for him.

"Are you okay?" Jacob asked Nikita, startling the excellent doctor.

"Goodness Jacob, you want to give me a heart attack too?" Nikita said as he pointed his handgun at Jacob's heart. His reflexes had been so quick that Jacob was in shock himself.

"I'm sorry, sir, I didn't mean to," Jacob muttered to his boss. He had recovered pretty quickly, but still, that didn't make him feel any safer around Nikita.

"What will we do about her?" Jacob added, unsure of what was expected. Of course, there were procedures in such scenarios, but then not all the scenarios revolved around holding a psycho bitch who wanted to ruin his life like she was being paid to.

"Her? Nothing. Let's see how long she keeps her mouth shut, locked up in that room and with no food. You give her food, and you're dead. That's just a polite reminder," Nikita said while patting Jacob's back with his gun. This was going to be complicated.

"Okay, sir"

"Great, now that we got that settled, I still need to go check out the body parts she stole and the eye tech. Remember, no one receives in or out of that room except me. I will know if you lie, y'know with the Rostova legion and all.

Anyway, I'll see you around, Jacob. Make sure to eat and sleep well—oh wait, and you're on the job. I'll send a few people down here to watch her with you," Nikita said reassuringly and in the most lovely voice, he could muster.

Maybe the doctor finally lost it, but he had something to look forward to.

Maybe at the end of this, maybe when he got his closure, the world would get to see Nikita for the excellent person he was instead of a damaged doctor who no longer had anything to lose.

Maybe then he would understand that the world wasn't so bad.

"Okay" Jacob nodded in agreement.
